Walmart carb clean won't clean carbs but she dries flooded engines, starts and runs engines and works great for vac leaks and o2 sensor checks. Also good flame thrower paint prep and degreaser. Won't touch carb gum though lol.
Daymn I sure wish you lived near Seattle,WA – OR – that I lived near you in upstate NY. There are so few automotive technitions we can trust. Perhaps there are but so far in my area I've found only shops that instead of diagnostics like you do Eric they simply want to change the most expensive combined components. We have an AWD Toyota Matrix, I watched one of your videos where in you pulled the input at the front of the rear end, did a R&R of the viscous bearing and wha lah, noise resolved. Shops in my area say "No, we'll replace the entire rear end at between $1500 and $2500,," I show them a brief part of your video on my phone and they say "No,, we don't want to do that,,"
That def sounds like a seizure Eric , we have had 2 dogs ( labs ) that have had them . So im very familiar with them . We have our dog now that has them on pheno an potassium bermide .
Im watch on replay hence the multi posts. "Collage" Pah not me, I am gifted and can do pretty much anything. I am dyslexic and school didnt pick it up so they classed me dumb as shit. I put most so called "qualified" people to shame. education failed me but with my enthusiasm and gift I can problem solve and fix so many things people just give up on.
I got bit by a tick a couple of years ago, went to the doctors and she said "looks a bit red I will give you some cream for that" I had to tell her to google tick bites, she must have been embarrassed when she saw what she should have been giving me. Thats our great NHS in the UK for you
Thank you Eric for the channel, the time, education and idiot proof breakdowns from nuts and bolts to complex diagnostics, smokers, OBD's, etc……Enjoy the spring and summer with the kids/family. You're appreciated……
for those that were asking, search scotty bans eric, grab some popcorn and a thick oven mitt to avoid injury from the facepalms as you listen to the snowflake from astral cry and whine about how Eric did not reply to his comment and the hilarity that follows.
"Remove all the warning labels off everything and let natural selection work its course." a great man once said. This is why I love this channel, besides learning how to repair vehicles. My GF and I drive two Toyota Priuses ("Prieye"?) 50k miles a year each as Uber/Lyft drivers and I have had to become a mechanic to keep us going. Thank you Eric and the South Main Auto channel! You have improved our lives, (especially mine as the mechanic), saving us time and money teaching your automotive techniques. I had a wheel bearing go out and I was scared to do it myself so I took it into the shop for that. Not the next time. Watching these videos has given me the courage to replace my wheel bearings myself! No, it's not a pressed bearing fortunately, but removing the old one was my fear. I watched "Big Nasty" struggle a bit removing the bearing from the Toyota Prius 3rdgen bearing replace video. But watching many of his other videos now, I have learned the techniques and physics required for removing the old bearing. I just hope I can do it without a "Big Nasty". TO ALL THE POTENTIAL SPONSORS OUT THERE, I've already bought CRC brake cleaner, the Permatex brake lubricant and Fluid film he uses. Im eyeballing the shrink wrap tubing and some other tools he's using. And I'm sure as hell going to get one of those "Big Nastys" some day! Eric O and The South Main Auto channel is a 100% gold mine for sponsors. Are you hearing me Snap-On and Mac tools and the rest? I gotta go, many more South Main Auto videos to watch! If Eric O can do it, so can I!
I've hear that the best method to remove ticks (on humans) without leaving their head detached inside you is, use a match or BBQ butane lighter on low flame and bring it toward the tick area on you. Tale is said they will back up and out when you can then safely remove them. Then the short funeral…
Regarding the "insurance" coverage for a property leasee/lessor and the trespasser, an insurance guy once told me the only reason those cases get started is because there is a "deep pocket" to tap into and he said the deep pocket was the insurance policy limits. The higher the limits of coverage the more prone someone would be subjected to "pirana" lawyers (aka bottom feeders). He had told me of all the clients he had with high vs lower coverages the ones that got the most activity of lawsuits were those with the higher limits. It really is a shame that the jurors today can be so easily swayed to believe the law is the law no matter how dumb it is due to the many changes in some laws vs no changes. Those laws that dumb to suggest folks already breaking the law and are entitled to the same "safety" protections while trespassing really need to tell the lawyers and court, "this is so dumb, your laws are rewarding outcasts in the act". NOT GUILTY. I pray there is never a day I have to depend on a jury !
On the trade school subject, I simply agree with Eric in the quality and in some of the dated methods and skills being taught. "Top 5" in the east etc. means no beans because of media methods these days. Since around the late 1990's all of these independent schools, colleges, trade tech etc. all have tons of marketing feeding the classrooms full and that is why they are busy. It's not because of their academics, instructors and success in graduating students and getting them jobs afterwards. Most of them are run by "business" types who aren't teachers, instructors or professors who are looking for a business to run. I've seen students go in and come out many thousands of dollars less with a "certificate" and they really never did very well in class. Most of them who were successful never got a job by their placement program so they got them on their own and months after graduating. This is why it really makes sense to get your on the job training from a shop and then pursue the classes put on as Eric has mentioned. Those industry classes are way more informative and cheaper than a trade school plus, the student is earning some money while learning the quick tips and tricks of the trade by being in a working shop.
I agree on the warning labels, get rid of them. Most of them are there due to a lawsuit the manufacture lost sometime in the past. The more the labels/warnings, usually the more they have been sued. Those labels are mostly common sense notifications or lawsuit "preventers". Opioid issues are due to drug companies and shady doctors who get kickbacks from drug companies. It's not the drugs, it's those who manufacture and prescribe them. Many doctors today sell and or pimp their medical degree vs. hold their medical ethics high and mighty.
Hey Eric, its really nice to have someone like you on the you-tube ..you seem like a nice , honest , trustworthy technician , to bad i live to far away to have you around to work on my vehicles, but if i were closer i would definitely patronize your business..I did the intake R&R on my 2003 Grand Marquis 4.6 with no problem whatsoever .MIRACLE no doubt , but watched a couple videos on you-tube wich helped me tremendously..so thanks for your knowledge and information..Thank You consider me a fan..
I had a butt puckering moment, had just put my 350 back together in my 72 Nova, open headers, well I crossed number 6&8, sounded like a dang gun shot lol
The soldering iron trick for ticks works great!!! Learned it in Alabama when I would get ticks on me from fourwheeler riding or drinking on the power lines with friends lol or light your lighter and get the metal of the lighter hot and touch it to the tick and it will let go
When you see a tick on or stuck to you.take your soldering iron and get it nice and hot. And take and touch the tick with it and it will let it's grip go and it will fall off. Or a match light a match and blow it out and touch it right to it
One drug is called Crocodile, it eats your flesh, I saw a case on YouTube, when a girl came into the Emergency Room, all she had of her arm was the bare bone.
I am retired machinist who worked as a mechanic for most of the American brand dealerships when I was younger. Now that I have more time I have been trying to get educated on the electronics side of cars and machinery of today. Got a lot of information and inspiration from Eric and it very much a appreciated. Eric inspired me to get a scope and just bought a Pico 4425 scope from AESwave and for some training. Looking forward to learning new ways everyday.
