In this video I am working on a 2012 ford Focus with under 30k miles on it and it has a failed A/C compressor clutch bearing. The entire kit is available from Ford for a reasonable price. Let's see how it fits! -Enjoy!

Excellent camera work
NICE WORK
Thanks for showing. Ima take it to someone for this👍
Ha! Definition of insanity.
Good job! I’m doing my 2003 Focus. This was very well done!! Thanks!
I need to do this on a 2015 ford focus. I wasn't sure if I would need a puller or not. After watching this, it looks like it won't be too difficult. Mine is making a tick-tick-tick noise. The noise stops when I turn off the AC. Thanks for the video, it's a big help. I should send you a new hat. You probably have a new one, but prefer the worn out one.
Thanks for sharing that!
Gotta love Fords – A/C compressor clutch dies at just 24K miles…
Wow
I snapped the bolt 😑🤦♂️
I've ended up getting a removal kit with left drill bits, and a centre drill bit guide.
But I'm wondering if there is possibly Loctite in there, & if i should try and use a bit of heat first?
On top of that, the clutch component to this one i think may have been pressed on, so i'm wondering if i may have to end up depressuring the gas and take it out completely when putting a new one on. 😱😁.
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF I CAN CUT THE BELT OFF AND BYPASS THE AC LIKE THAT?? Like without any consequences??
26k where he drive over a salt lake
Pop clips are the devil.
ONLY 22,000 miles and the A/C compressor clutch bearing died? Sounds like FORD used a a real POS for a bearing, eh?
I don’t know what Ford considers that they have a better idea remember their old ads none of the so called American auto makers impress me with their new technology have you ever changed a water pump on a Chevy equinox yet you will be in for a little bit of a surprise
Just did this today on my own thanks to your video! Sent you some money on PayPal too since I can't imagine a shop would have charged. Took me about 5 hours start to finish, mostly because I am incredibly disorganized and a complete amateur. I did get stuck at the point when I was removing the 8mm screw that holds it all together. I couldn't get it to spin independently of the clutch. My drill wasn't powerful enough to turn it when the clutch engaged, and I couldn't get the clutch to engage without the rotational speed of the drill. The trick I finally used was to wedge my belt replacement tool between the bottom of the clutch and the steel protector plate, with the old belt providing some extra thickness and friction. That was enough to get the clutch to hold still while I ratcheted the 8mm screw out by hand. Thanks so much for the video!
Thank you
Now I know why I'm paying a mechanic I had no idea so much is involved hope he is up to the job you made it look easy but it's hard thank you so much for your video I can know what I'm paying for kind of scary to see how much can go wrong
I gotta say I love your vibe, I wish I could like the video twice.
I've been a subscriber for about a year and I just got an old Ford focus convertible to play around with for the summer. It's perfect except I'm told the ac doesn't work. I'm yet to investigate but thought I would look online to see how they are configured. Delighted to find you've done a video on the subject! What are the chances!
The problem is not the snap ring itself it is the darn lousey design of the stupid pliers smooth pins that always allow the ring to slide back down the pin pins that are serrated and point out would solve most of the darn issue they a infuriating
Phenomenal job with the camera angle. Was able to see the snap rings and the tapered edges
this clutch is genuine Motorcrap.
Bad after only 30k?
Never new there was a stretchy belt , learned something new , must be there only put on cheap made vehicles. lol
What should a shop cost to do this?
Can you just change the bearing and not the clutch?
1996 Chevy Lumina, the clutch plate will not come off! I removed the nut, sprayed silicone, used multiple flatheads to pry off, and it will not budge! Please help….
Hi ya, AC was working untill the head of the 8mm bolt snapped off and the AC clutch came off, luckily on too the subframe. Any ideas how to remove the rest of the bolt since it's locktight in there. Don't mind stretchy belts, old school baby. Have a good day.
Never understood why people buy Lisle…they sell mostly junk in my opinion
Do you have to drain the Freon before accessing the compressor clutch
I am actually attempting this tomorrow. My 2012 focus keeps blowing the fuse for the compressor clutch. It will work for a few days than blow. Every shop near me told me that they would only replace the entire compressor so I decided to do it myself. Thanks for the great video.
Why did you not just undo the 5 bolts holding the compressor on tilt it and off it comes.
Great video Mr owe
My ac compressor in a 2013 Focus just won't start,.. currently trying to fix,.. pulling the relay,.. which one is the relay,.. I selected on from a different Yutube video,.. confirm which relay power the ac clutch thanks.
It sounds like Chewbacca. Best way to describe it, must be it!😂
WOW! Do they use acid or what kind of salt up there!? I feel for you!
A year and a half after this video was posted I am here watching for my own education.
I have dated a few girls that use stretchy fit belts…
True story….😳
Well done for keeping the swearing to a minimum there bud, but rest assured I was swearing for you watching man vs snap ring was it? In the UK we call them circlips or b8@^%&d F%*@@G things pinging off here there and everywhere. Great vid man fixing stuff proper mechanic top stuff. Also, I hate those stretchy belts!
If I cant afford to fix this problem, can the car run without a belt connected to the a/c compressor?
linda ronstadt
Very informative video and well done filming!
Covid-19 10 4 2020 got my stretchy belt on cuz I gained 19 pounds staying safe
Are you sure that car only had 27k miles? All the components look as rough as mine do and I have 120k!
ford focus mk3 powershift the bad family car in the world
My 2019 ford fusion with 35,000 miles the ac compressor is making noise
Probably the same thing it still pumps out cold air just makes noise
niggas in my butthole
Not still under warranty?
The very first video you posted involved a stretchy belt on a Subaru.
Universal tool for stretchy belts: zip ties and swearing. The louder you swear, the easier they go on.
