In this video I continue the work on the Rapid Ranger brake job and start in the rear. Rear pads, rotors, calipers and parking brakes shoes. We are also still waiting on the other grease cap and flush out the entire system. -Enjoy!

So glad I never bought a vehicle with combo rears. The shoes on back bad enough. What a stupid ass design. Engineer must have had a bird up his ass
I upgraded my sport bike from DOT4 brake fluid to DOT5.1 which is also compatible and has an even higher boiling point!
Is there any special tool to depress the caliper?
Drum brakes are for mechanics
I’m not talking to my self. I’m self employed and I’m having a corporate meeting.
I normally give SMA videos a thumbs up as soon as I start the video..this time I waited until the music for Big Nasty started.
Holy god, no one in my shop is that quick with those shoes. This is going in "saved videos" fo sho.
Edit: does he have a video on 2000 Exploder e brakes?
Sir, were did you buy the front set and rear set. I have 2011 ford ranger sport 4wd looking for parts to general overhaul my brakes, having hard time finding the whole sets. What do you call that ? / ? Caliper bolt . Looking for that parts too. Appreciate your help. Job well done.
Last time I did such a parking break, I hooked the hard-to-reach spring into the two shoes before mounting them to the backing plate. Might be something to try, if there's no other hardware in the way.
You do great work
The Big Nasty music is awesome!!!!
Hes a keeper as mechanics go
I rarely have criticisim for anything in your videos but I do this time. I think you may have installed the white spring upside down. I noticed that your adjuster screw was clicking against it as you adjusted the shoes. One of the straight ends on that spring is longer than the other. The longer side is meant to bypass the adjuster cog. Otherwise a super great video as usual.
Oh shit an Ernest reference.
I have a 2011 Ranger, been looking for a video that had rear disc brakes along with the E-Brake pad change. Thank you for the video!!!!
Don't know if I want to bring a flashlight. "when I have to go down on her"..lol
Great video. Thanks. Glad we didn't have the corrosion. The springs were not sagging in. Slam dunk just doing pads, new rotor/drum and lube.
Nice work Eric. Question. Alfred Tech has a good auto tech program in Wellsville. Have you ever been over there to see their facility?
Memaw sure was smart.
Second time watching 5/7/2020
Perfect I really enjoy watching your channel plus I own a 2011 Ranger 4.0 stick which I just finished with new bearings, pads, rotors and shocks last week. Again great job on the video.
What was that tool you used to clean the studs ? Never seen that before
What is that buffer/scrubber that fit over the lug nuts called. I've looked high and lo and can't find that.
Pure comedy act in a rear parking brake job! Thanks for the laugh and the video!
Hey Eric, SAFETY EYE WEAR WHEN USING THE TORCH!!!
I've heard of barn finds but this is an ocean find!!!
Eric O! You make it look easy… I wish I had seriously started working on Autos much earlier in my lifetime so to get that kind of experience. I believe I've heard you in one of you vids say you wouldn't make a good teacher, but part of being a Great teacher is loving what you teach. I hear that love and enjoyment in your voice and in your videos. And that makes it enjoyable for us to watch and more importantly LEARN. Thanks Professor Eric! :o) On to Part III…
Another great video. And another reason I'm glad I'm outside of the rust belt
I think Eric should be sponsored by CRC brake clean for as much as he uses 🤷♂️
how many years has that can of brake clean lasted you. HAHAHAHAHAH
Them NAPer guys should know better. Don’t they realize they are holding up production?
I thought when you said that if you broke the rubber and had to replace it, it would kill the mood. Lol.
The Big Nasty music was great! That Ranger's pretty clean underneath, considering its age. Eric O., thanks for another educational show!
One of Ford's better ideas , make it so you can't get the caliper bolt out because the leaf spring is in the way. Almost like a Chrysler.
I hate them clips, did the back brakes on my 07 Dakota and it was drums with that style for the hold down. Pain in the behind in my honest opinion. Got it done, but ya know?…. Late to the party, but it be alright.
Hey if josh starts talking like Carl in slingblade watchout! Or have some fries ready?
Those rear brakes look like a pain in the ass! If it works either way on that spring , I'll go for easy! I miss my 87 ranger really liked that truck!
wouldn't it just be easier to pull the axles out? serious question
I hope "memaw" is your grandpa because here in Michigan "memaw" is a grandma. But maybe your grandma was a mechanic.😏
I’ve watched so many SMA videos that I feel like I know the man! Reality sets in,I do not know him. Damn, imagine sitting around drinking a beer and telling stories with the great mind that is Eric O!
( On the rear brake's ) Eric, beat the crap out of it!!!
Sorry about your tripod. Have you checked out Manfrotto? Any decent camera shop should be able to help you find what you need.
I have conversations with myself…only in the privacy of my bathroom though. 😀
Use strings to put in springs =) easy =)
take out the bleeder and coat the threads with never seize, friday free tip
Where do you get that power bleeder?
you took the green spring out from the back and reinstalled it from the front,,did I miss something???
I was just up on the South Main Auto online store and NONE of the tee shirts have pockets. What do we call tee shirts without pockets?
don't you at SMA have an inspection license ?????
just back off the adjusters…..if there are self adjusters push them off the star adjuster with a tweeker screwdriver, and back it off… we always did that always in the days of drum brakes….
