In this video we have a look at a Ford Fusion that has had the parts cannon unloaded on it in an attempt to repair a "torque vibration." After they were at their whits end I had a look at it and discovered it had a failed transmission mount. Replacing it cured the problem and all is well. -Enjoy!

I have a 2018 Ford fusion hybrid with the same issue would it show on a diagnostic check
I have a van with only 20k miles. One of my mounts is failing , and I hear a clunk when reversing. Is it possible that a slow battery acid leak could have caused this so early? How about bottoming out while off road? How about during the replacement of transmission?

“Safety 3rd”… Cracked me up. Creaky ball joints are grim reapers. I lived to tell the tale of lwr LF breakage on a 85 Hondoo Civic at 70mph. Tire turned 80 deg CCW in about 3/10 sec. Let’s just say I gave my Guardian Angel a workout that day. 😇

So sad that the aftermarket electronics parts are junk/problematic. For my G35, owners recommend using only OEM Cam and Crank Sensors otherwise you will need to change them again very soon, usually when it lives you stranded.

Put some jello on the dash
I worked as a crank shaft grinder for some time. The grinding wheel needed to be very well balanced to grind a crank with a good finish. The wheel is about 24inches diameter. The mount pivots at the bottom and sits on a rubber bush when not in use so can vibrate freely. To measure the vibration a 6inch long thin spring steel strip fixed only at one end is used. 2 rollers adjust the length of the strip to adjust the frequency. When at resonance the strip will vibrate over 1 inch at the free end.
Off the subject, I haven't hear how your Deer hunt went this year
You have probably seen the "Death Wobble" on solid-front-axle vehicles, like Jeep Grand Cherokee 1999-2004, etc. Man, those are violent. The steering wheel is back and forth at about 4 per second.
I would probably use one of them fishing bells and attach it to the steering wheel with a gator clip to show shimming….. just a thought…..
Don't remember seeing you do any but I would be very interested in seeing you pull down a front IFS differential for a complete rebuild of the trac-lok. I am getting ready to rebuild my 97 Ford Ranger with trac-lok in front and back. The back was a cake walk but I am looking for shortcuts for the IFS. Of course this is in my driveway but at least I am going to wait til the snow is gone! I enjoy your videos.

Just had to do this on a 2010 Town and Country all four.
Put a bottle of water in the cup holder and you can see the vibration.
Get holders for light bulbs and an adjustable rod holder for the vehicle. Set up the row of bulbs in holders at the same height and adjust the rod in holder on car at 1/2 inch below bulb height and do your drive by. If you break bulbs it ain't fixed. (I'm borrowing this from old Ford twin I beam tv ads from the 60s)

Was it Kroil Oil that you used for the penetrating oil?
If one mount is bad what does the other ones look like before they need to be replaced ?
I have the blue point chassis buddy. It won’t “show” it on camera. But you absolutely can hear it.
I use it to sell work when the customer thinks I’m “fos” and don’t believe me. I strap on a couple of sensors, change the channels with the customer in the car (after I show where I placed them with the car on the lift) while driving and BAMM!, if they can afford the job it’s done. If not, they come back to me when they can afford it because I had proof of concept.
I would love to have a pico nvh kit though. But having enough sensors is cost prohibitive. I believe trying to tell a customer that the right frequency proves it is a little bit out of their comprehension level.
