In this video we have a look at a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Classic. The dual climate control intermittently is sticking on full hot on the driver side. However the passenger side works as it should. We use the Autel MS906BT and are able to identify the failing actuator and make the repair. -Enjoy!

thanks for this man. my work truck’s driver side started blowing hot (while passenger blew out cold air) and this worked like a charm.
I had to re-grease/lubricate my blend door actuators. Used dialectic grease and it works like a charm.

Was happening in my work truck today, it’s 110 out. Just turned the truck off and back on and it hasn’t happened since so hopefully can get it fixed before it becomes a permanent feature.

The third time I've had this problem on my 04 with 230K miles, happened today. South Texas gets extremely hot. I'm trying to finalize a deal on a 2013 Tundra, now I've got this to deal with…AGAIN. The first thing I verified on this new/used truck, was whether or not it had dual climate control. Just pathetic. And what a dumb idea. When its 105 degrees out, I think the passenger and I can agree on what the A/C needs to be set on.
Not sure if ya said it or not but are the passenger and driver side both controlled by the same actuator, Or is there a separate one for the passenger side? My 04 Silverado Z71has the same climate control and the passenger side is stuck on full heat. Everything else works fine!
now those actuators are like 20 bucks….the new actuators will be made of unobtanium

You know so much!! I am having the hardest time with my 2003 Chevy with the same climate control module. When I leave the truck sit for a few days is seems like I have no power to the module besides the blower fan. Just the blower fan works. My defrost and ac won’t turn on and my my heat will be stuck on what ever it wasn’t to be set to and blow where ever it wants too. Do you know how to fix it or any ideas on how to fix it. I get new climate control module like every month when it does it, and it works for a while then goes out. Any ideas??

My 2011 Tahoe driver's side temperature randomly changes to cold. If I set it to cold and back to hot, it goes cold again on its own a couple seconds later. Passenger side seems ok. Would this be the same part?
I have a 2009 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab with dual climate controls. Had issues with AC blowing hot on driver side, cold on passenger side after battery had died and replaced. Twice. After installing new battery both times, had the AC issue I described above. I tried the HVAC fuse pulling behavior and disconnecting battery cable, waiting a few minutes, then reinstalling fuse/reconnecting cable with no success. Also tried setting the AC to "Auto" with engine on, turning engine off, then turning ignition to "on" (without starting) and waiting 1-2 minutes to initiate OBC calibration, after 1-2 minutes turn ignition to "off", pull the key, open then close driver side door to complete calibration (read that process somewhere on the "interweb"). Nope. Here's what worked for me both times: 1)Start truck, 2)shut AC off completely, turn radio off (you'll need to hear the calibration actually taking place in the dash behind the radio/AC), 3)turn off engine, 4)turn ignition to "on" without starting, 5)touch NOTHING and listen. You will hear very slight electronic circuitry sounds, then (for me) after 3-4 minutes you will hear the actuator doors opening and closing. This took another 1-2 minutes. Then you will hear nothing after about 5-6 minutes. Then wait some more unless you want to do this all over again. 6)turn key to "off", pull it out and exit vehicle (open door, exit and close door). That last part may not be necessary, but I live in Florida, tired of relying on passenger side AC to stay cool, and I didn't' want to take any chances that I screwed this up. I got AC working properly immediately after starting truck.
I recently swapped out my climate control and now the Hot and cold levers are backwards 2005 Silverado
Pin 6 of the actuator has 2.5v on it at rest. To command the actuator to move, the HVAC module applies 5v to pin 6 for the actuator to move in one direction, and 0v to pin 6 for the other direction. The actuator also has a 3 wire feedback position sensor as well as a 12v ignition feed and ground.

It used to be you would keep a spare ballast resistor in the glovebox of your Mopar. Now it's keep a spare blend door actuator in the glovebox of your GM.
Sooo, I have an 05 Silverado with the dual auto temp control. The temp sometimes goes full hot when full cool is called for on one side or the other. If I disconnect the battery and turn each control, one at a time to full hot then full cold, it goes back to working normally and controls correctly for a few months. I'm guessing this system is similar to the video vehicle system, with thermistors used for temp feedback. I don't have an Autel. Without resorting to a Parts Cannon, any suggestion as to the likely culprit?
This infuriates me… $200 for OEM? This is essentially an RC car/boat/plane servo but has positional feedback? These things were $25 or less for RC cars when absolute position servos were BRAND NEW. THIS is what is wrong with the automotive industry. And please, let no one start with the diatribe of, "Well, they have to be more reliable than typical consumer goods," bit. I work in the industrial sector and know that MIL Spec gear that can accomplish this is 80% (plus) less expensive for the same application (And has a better failure rate).
I know this is an older post, but had to say something. I have found on many of these vehicles that use this type of blend doors that if you disconnect the battery, when you hook the battery back up and start the vehicle, the vehicle has to relearn the positions of the blend doors. It does this by slamming the door back and forth between the 2 end stops. That is what usually strips a tooth or two off the gears. Those plastic gears get brittle with age and break easily during the relearn. When you put the new parts in, the plastic isn't as brittle and usually will survive the relearn. Don't go to the junkyard for a replacement because it is an older part with the brittle plastic and will just destroy itself when installed. I know this from experience.
This really chaps my hide! Incorporate crappy parts that fail at abnormal rates and they will claim they’re just giving the customer what they want. Not this customer. And what about the cost to replace the other one at what, $95 per hour plus a $200 part for a lousy door control??? The last Chevy I owned had paint flaking off with the primer showing through in huge patches on a gutless 305 C10. And the taxpayers later bailed them out in the financial crisis. Which makes me wonder, if we should ever get into another depression and war can a vehicle be made to run without an ECM made in China and no longer available? Or would you be the proud owner of a 3000 pound paperweight?

oh my,truck is over 10 years old and a 200 buck part breaks,well hell trade the truck for a new one,cant afford to fix this lol
I had the same issue on my 2005 GMC 1500, drivers side control was wonky. Pulled the actuator and opened it up no broken gears but the circuit board and wipers were dirty, cleaned them with contact cleaner and re-assembled, tested out fine, still working today.

A lady friend I had the hots for but wouldn’t tell her cause she gets a big head had climate control stuck on hot in the middle of the summer. Could hear that click click going on under the dash. Thankfully only had to ride in her car with two other people only once. Longest hour in this guys life

When you removed that black gear we could see the black resistive material on the circuit board that the wiper wipes. And I'm guessing that resistive material is worn out on the cool end. It's exactly the same as a scratchy volume control on an old stereo system. The wiper can only wipe the resistive material so many times before it starts to wear it away. And there ain't no fixing it except replacing it as you did.

I had a GMC Yukon that was stuck on. Turn off the key, pull it out of the ignition, it stays running. Only way to kill it was to pull the main fuse.
I have an '03 with that same manual dual zone. in winter with heat on, the temp reverts to full cold while going around a corner but not a gradual turn, then going back to heat when the truck straightens out again. I have a buddy at a dealer that does electrical/ tuneup diagnosis, he said it might be the actual temp actuator. have you heard of this before. not setting and codes and no weird noises from the dash. I don't notice it in the summer, my ac has been discharged for a long time so the whole system is off in the summer. and I also the full center console.
i got to do mine on my chevy which is no big deal but do i need to calibrate the new one since i am a truck mechanic i dont have a scanner like what you have i just have a basic one that reads powertrain data so will i need to go to a car shop to have them calibrate it?
It is probably dirty wipers on the back side sensor piece.
I did one of those blend door actuators on a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. That was one PITA! I replaced it, but was able to repair the old one by cleaning the contacts. Not worth it to put a used one back in though, so have it on my bench as a memento of a miserable job.
Have had teeth missing and a broken shaft on same gear. On Another One just shaft was broke and gear popped sideways. Sure are a Common problem. Good job diagnosing as always Mr O!
So 6.9 book hours on a right side passenger side actuator on the Silverado could be an indication that I don't need to be in a hurry to work on my 2000 Corvette that is displaying a code for the passenger side actuator. Now I'm thinking that listening to the wife whine would be less expensive than actually replacing the door actuator.
Hey got a unrelated question, my 05 Silverado 1500 the a/c blows cold for 30mins then goes hot, heater hoses not hooked up and the compressor quits turning. I bypassed the pressure switch and the air coming out of the vents never decreased, any ideas
