In this SMA Quick tip video we do a quick repair on a 2013 Ford Fusion that came into the shop with over 17 codes including problems in the parking aid system, ABS, traction control and power steering. I hope to show the value in checking TSB's and SSM info AFTER you have gathered preliminary data from the car you are working on. -Enjoy!

2013-2014 Fusion/MKZ - ABS Warning Lamp - DTCs C0031, C0034, C0037, And/Or C003A
Some 2013-2014 Fusion and MKZ vehicles built before 3/4/2014 may exhibit an ABSlamp with one or more DTCs C0031, C0034, C0037, or C003A. DTC B00A0 and other network DTCs related to ABS may also be present in other modules. In addition, the affected wheel speed sensor (WSS) PID value may indicate 255 KPH (158 MPH). Inspect the circuits in the vehicle harness according to the WSS DTC present. Pullback approximately 150mm (6") of the WSS circuit protective conduit and check for corrosion and/or cuts in the wiring insulation approximately 25-75mm (1" to 3") from the connector. Repair the circuits using pigtail kit 3U2Z-14S411-BXAB and using the Solder Splicing Method. Refer to the Wiring Diagram, Section 5-1 andto published service labor time standards for wire repair in Section 02 - Brakes, use causal part 12A581.

My car is doing the same thing and all the lights come on and then it completely dies! Just shuts down! We replaced the battery and the alternator and it's still all lights on and randomly loses power steering and dies. Now I'm gonna have my husband check these wires and see.
Would this cause issues w a engine completely dying?
I HAVE BEEB TRYIBG TO FIGURE THIS OUT FOR NEARLT 2 YEARS 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I put a new engine in my 2013 fusion when step on the gas it’s a little but no acceleration I’m getting the C0037 code but all light that’s on is my engine light can please help
Thanks for the video, I just fixed my lMKZ using your information. had the same issues as you described in the video. I found the hole in the wire and corrosion, the wire was good so I cleaned it and I applied die electrical grease and taped it real good. no issues so far.
I did this a couple years ago on my MKZ, honestly thought someone had pierced the wire with a tester.. learn something new every day
Concise and clear. Well done!
Great idea. Especially for a mechanic that just wants a little more input.
Well my friend i think you just saved me hundreds i will go check that right naaaoooooo !!!!!
I was working on a 13 taurus that was hit on front fixed everything and it still had TCS lights on. Changed the bearing and sensor. Still on then saw this checked the harness and more than 3 spots of it were coroded and just gone. Couldn't believe it
Great video. RF wire 2014 Fusion SE. Fixed it. I did have to invest in a better scanner that covered ABS but I think I still beat the price of taking it in.
Why isn't this a recall? Every Fusion has this problem.
I enjoy watching your videos but I'm just trying to figure out why do you look like dude from Tremors and I know you hear this a lot but you look just like that dude like you could be his long-lost twin I'm just saying but I'm still one of your biggest fans but every time I see one of your video that's who you remind me of cuz you look identical to this man
Thanks very helpful 👍🏻🙏
Just did the same job on the same year fusion even the same color!!!!! RF wire broken in the same place…..Thanks for saving me lots of time.
I have a 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium and I want to thank you for publishing this one! My car was also lit up like a Christmas tree with stiff steering. ForScan guided me to the front left abs sensor and just as I was about to order new I ran across this helpful video. Next morning I decided to unravel my harness, and sure enough same broken purple wire on the harness. I proceeded to fix it with one of those solder butt splices and wrapped up with loom and electical tape. All codes a thing of the past! Thanks so much – very helpful! Mike
Could that front harness throw a code for the left rear tone wheel ? Or would the rear harness cause that problem? I'm getting rear tone wheel code same issue and car.
Ótimo vídeo! Não entendi o que você falou mas entendi o que eu vi kkkkk.
Erros no meu Ford KA 2015: C0031, U0415 e U0401.
As for this repair. My 2013 Fusion Hybrid has been doing this for a few months. I replaced the left front WSS this morning due to a C0031 code I guess I should have kept reading all the way down to where it said Circuit short to battery or open. After watching this post I found the exact same issue. I also found that the pin hole in the wire is located right behind the white plastic restraint clip. I suppose the tool that installs the clip poked the hole in the harness.
Thank you for the video! Had this exact issue on my 2016 F150 with the right rear wheel speed sensor.
OMG I just had this issue on my 2018! Took it to the dealer, as soon as i started describing it, he said yup i know exactly what it is. Left front ABS wire. He said he replaces at least three of these a week. they just need to do a recall if its happening to all of them. Luckily mine is still under warrantee.
My 2013 Fusion (manual trans) had the same exact issue.
I have a 2010 fusion sel 3.0 awd. Brakes feel like they lose pressure between drives. After some research it sounds like replacing the ABS pump may be fix but then my check engine light came on and i had codes B1676 and U3003 that both suggest an issue with ABS supplied voltage or something like that which suggest maybe a fuse or something?. Do you have any experience with these? Going crazy over here trying to self diagnosing. Maybe I should still change out pump then go from there. Cant afford a shop as these are many times a 1500 to 2000 dollar job. TIA
Dead on
My dad's 06 F150 had the same thing happen to the rear speed sensor. Very interesting issue for sure
*****. Magnificient!
My guess is that a common problem like that was probably related to an issue on the assembly line or in the tooling that assembles the harness.
So simple when you're brilliant!
Great example of where the quick tip is best used. I like this new video type!
Sweet.
I liked the quick tip video. Sometimes I am looking for one that takes less time and this was the one.
How about one a week QUICK TIP ? that way you can help Scotty out !
I loved it buddy!!!! <3
I loved it buddy!!!! 🙂
I loved it!!! 🙂
Exactly .. erratic steering wheel controls (for radio) on my Honda .. TSM told me the fix … intermittent open ground collar on the steering column .. ding it up with a center punch .. fixed …
Cool! I sure wish service bulletins were that readily available for the class 8’s!!
Great idea, thank you
Great Video. Excellent information!
I just found a tick on my ehhhhh, ahhhhhhhh, errrrrrrr, my twins!! The berries, but not the twig! My manhood!! The ole testaroonies!! Boy does it itch like the dickens!! No pun intended!
And before you ask what I did about it!! I jerked it off!! Without giving it the classic reach around!
factory sabotage at it's finest.
Have you ever done a video on how to inspect a vehicle? Like when you are buying a used car and take it to your mechanic to have them give it the 'ole 1, 2 Skip to My Lou and make sure its worth buying.
Great video always check service bulitons on the manufacture Information
My son owns a 14 ford fusion. now i can look like a super dad when his dash lights up like a christmas tree. Less he knows the better i look..LMAO.
