My actuator is clicking with the key and the dash button but not the handle pad?
what if when you push that latch, it still doesn't open? What's that diagnosis, and what needs to be repaired?
Thanks, now I know how to open my rear hatch from the inside.
What’s the part number?
My hand doesn't even fit in the hole on my 2011 Pilot Touring. Your diag video is great, but I wish the access was larger so I could fix it. Any suggestions on removing the lower trim?
So what happens when the manual lever doesn’t unlock the hatch from the inside? Any insight to that problem?
I just did this and now none of my locks are working. What just happened?
This guy is great! 90% of the time, every time.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the computer can override the door actuator if it "thinks" that it cannot correctly read the locked state of all the passenger doors.
So how do you replace the touchpad switch????????
Thanks!!!!
it's a 09-15 not 08
Y don't I have power just to my tail gate on my 09 acura mdx
guess I'm gonna be popping off covers and giving places in my acura the classic reacharound since that looked really similar
Screwdriver trick didn't work so now I have to dig deeper into it
Mine is a crv with extra button to lock/unlock aside from the button to open/close the tailgate becuase it is a smart entry. How many wires and how to distinguish those wires? Mine is still working but just wondering if it gets to the point of not working i can hopefully repair it myself too. I am thinking there will just be 3 wires having a common ground to the 2 buttons. TIA!
Forget the electronics. How you open mechanically with dead battary
Thank you for this video!! I was able to open my 2015 Honda Pilot trunk and get my jumper cables from the underneath compartment. Whew!!
What’s the part needed?
Thanks! Worked like a charm. Used one of my wife’s shoes for the job.
Will this work on a 2006 Honda Pilot EX-L model.? What part would I need to order. Have similar issues and has open before and now being stubborn and not want to open and just bought on the 9th.
Does it need a replacement or is there a fix for this. I can't even find a replacement.
So what is the actual part that you need to order for this?
Thank you for the timely video. Just saved me a ton of frustration on my wife's Pilot.
I have same issue on a 2007 CR-V but pad and actuator both work. What other logic is preventing it from opening… I read somewhere that if the other door sensor is at fault, it may prevent tailgate from opening.. ?
I’m having this problem now with my Honda Pilot Your video was very helpful…Thank you!!!
Thank you sir, was able to fix my 02 MDX
Hello Erik, I a problem with my rear passenger seat. The door won’t open but it’s because the lock won’t unlock. I already tried unlocking it with the remote control and by hand but it just won’t unlock 🤷🏻♀️
Would you please help me with this? Thank you so much!! 🙏🏼
74812-SZA-A01 for second generation Honda Pilot (2009-2015).
Hey, I have a 2003 with the same problem, I can manually unlock it after removing the entire plastic cover but there doesn't appear to be a manual latch to open it. How can I open the latch without cutting the latch striker with some bolt cutters?
Ha! After dreading the chore of troubleshooting my rear hatch latch electrical circuit, Eric offers the "bypass" technique…solved my problem…kudos to you, sir!
Thanks I was able to open my 2019 before my husband found out
Do you know if this trim works on 2008 MDX ??
Thanks for the video.
My hatch is stuck closed at the moment so this video is great!! Thanks so much, I'll be working on this as soon as I get off work today
I'm disappointed in this video Eric O. Not once did I see the use of "Brake Cleaner". Now I have to wonder if the hatch button was really fixed.. Love the quick tip. Thanks again for sharing your vast wealth of knowledge with the general public, especially the DIY guys..
Any video on replacing the pad? Also, if I am getting the locking sound when I push the pad and the door remains stuck is that the same problem? I have manually opened the hatch, but if I close it, it gets stuck again. Appreciate any help.
I did this, but even that won’t unlock it
I don't have that little push button on my any other way to get it done?
That's a huge tip. I would guess that many will find that useful!
What size are srew to hold the hatch lock
Thanks !!!!! Great video
Mines will not close do you have any information on fixing that problem?
You left out the part where you swap out the touchpad. Lol
Cool man I'll to remember that if I know anyone that this happens to. I think you do a great job of showing the problem and then explain and show the repair👍
The rear hatch can probably be opened using your scanner (active test) instead of climbing back there ….
Brake clean would have fixed it …easy
16,988th! Better late than never in this case 🙂
Well you left me wondering how the magic touch pad goes in, Eric. Take care. Doug
