This vehicle has an ABS speed sensor built into the hub but some however do not. This is a pretty standard procedure for many makes and models of GM vehicles.

How to change just the bearing keeping the original hub?
Eric I have a 2001 Olds Alero , replacing the rear hub and bearing assemble and not sure on the torque on the 4 x 13" bolts to hold the hub on.. thinking 65 ft-lb..
Makes sense. No reason to have a rear axle on a front wheel rive vehicle. Good video

I just got my stubby. Never used one before. I use it exclusively except when I need something really snug (axle nut).
Does anybody know where to buy good bearings. I tried ebay. Thought I got a good deal. These bearings make more noise and vibration than my really bad bearing. Some say Moog or Timken, but I have learned that these two now import from China.
Would the rear hub bearing if it’s bad make the top of the tire push in and the bottom stick out ??
Great video worked like a charm for me! Only one issue,while putting it back together the last bolt I tightened with a socket wrench and broke the bolt! Now to find a replacement bolt! Lol

I snapped off one of the 4 bolts holding the bearing assembly to the rear knuckle. Is there any way to extract the broken bolt or must the knuckle be replaced?
Why doesn't anyone ever say the torque? Does anyone know what to torque those 4 bolts to?
If I don't have an air hammer is this something to attempt in the driveway? regular small sledge and chisel work

Great work but I'll recommend one thing. Wear a mask with all that dust s**. Because you don't know what you're breathing in there. I'm 57 years old and I got a lung disease from breathing in dust from old Barns and pigeons and crap. And if only I wash my hands and wore a mask when I was a kid playing in my dad's barns and s** I wouldn't have this disease now and I'd be healthy and a lot of strength and and doing mega work and making lots of money. And now every so often I suffer with breathing problems and high blood pressure from this lung disease that I have, and taking medication just to get by. So I highly recommend wearing a mask it only takes 2 seconds to put it on and it keeps most of that s*** out of your mouth and your lungs most important

The instructions on my 2011 SRX said to remove the ABS sensor too, but just using my own sense and checking with some measurement I've confirmed that you don't need to at least on that one, it sits right behind the reluctance ring, and won't interfere or be harmed by a wheel hub assembly replacement.

Hey dude, you should do a traveling road show like This Old House does. You could start by coming to Massachusetts and replacing the rear wheel bearings in my Silverado. I can't pay you much but there's a good ice cream place near me. You can have two scoops if you do both sides.

Thanks so much for this video. Being from upstate NY the videos I watched on how to replace a rear hub all showed the hub coming out no problem. Your trick to hammer it till it spins did the trick on my rear 2014 upstate impala limited. I would have been stuck without this video.
