That's a dope trick not even going to lie… Science
I have a 2015 Infiniti Q70L 3.7L that is experiencing belt noise. It sounds like a little squeak. Less than a year ago the dealership replaced the serpentine belt and air-conditioning belt four months ago they replaced the alternator as well under warranty. Unfortunately I no longer have warranty since I ran out of time and not the mileage. Is there a chance they might have damaged the belts after replacing the alternator? The belt has less than 12 months. I currently have 150,000 miles. Keep in mind the belts were replaced are about 135,000 miles 140,000 miles. What’s your thoughts?
You kill me Eric. Reminds me of my old man, WWII Combat Engineer. He'd use common sense and Critical Thinking to solve most any problem.
He told me on real old cars you had to change the "bushings" on the crankshaft/rod connections every 30,000 miles or so. Metals were not as durable or hardened at that time.
You would drop the oil pan, R&R the bushings, put her back on the road.
Ehh.. couple of hours, you're done.
Good Work, My Friend. 👍
You should get together with Ivan and start a national mobil diagnostic service… even reginal

Here in the Asheville area. We have nobody trustworthy
You could market to repair facilities that have vehicles beyond their abilities
The old school never dies !
Smart …..very smart….Good job buddy.
i have a PS pump that sounds like it’s knocking, no knocking while belt is off, ice changed the pump 2x still knocks
any ideas ideas of what’s making it knock ?

Absolutely brilliant buddy, thanks for the tutorial..
That's a great idea, works mint!
I had similar noise and the mechanic said it was an issue with the idler pulley. Car is under warranty but have to wait 3 to 4 weeks for parts. Is it safe to continue using the car while waiting for the replacement pulley?
damn that's so much more smart than sticking the handle up to your head and trying to avoid the belt and fan.
I just spray lube or water on the pulley. The liquid will quiet it down and you'll know for sure. They make a mechanics stethoscope for this stuff. In my 2+ decades as a professional fleet tech, I have seen this method turn into a catastrophic event,….but hey to each their own right.
I invested in the proper and safest tool: a mechanics stethoscope! You don't ever see a doctor using a cutoff jug and screwdriver do ya? And yeah, I used just a screwdiver for the longest time until it accidently slipped, and the screwdriver handle smacked me in the side of the head! That was some kingd of hurt!
Those dangling strings though… be careful man.
Brilliant. I’m digging into a pulley noise tomorrow on my Jeep TJ. I was going to do the screwdriver trick, but adding that container is genius. I will be using that trick. Thanks!
awesome thank you for doing this
That's pretty good idea, after all I'll what brain cells I have to finish the job, really great step by step
Re: "danglies:" if you've never used them, CUT THEM OFF. Could be a life saver.
wthhhhh
Thanks for the milk jug tip! Found out the tensioner was bad within seconds of trying your trick. 🙂
Excellent
This trick saved me the hassle and expense of buying a stethoscope from harbor freight, now all I have to do is wait for the snap on truck to come to buy some screwdrivers.
great idea
thanks for the megaphone hack, i will do exactly tomorrow morning
Now that is a trick I can use at home.
Good morning brother. Thank you very much for that 🙏
Thanks man. Will used this trick forever. I would of been the one with the screwdriver though the head. Like all your videos. Straighten up a lot of my shade tree stuff
Sounds like plugging in dirty rcas
Sounds just like my kia 🤣 thanks bro !
Awesome video.
Good idea. Will try this. Harbor freight makes a $5 stethoscope with a rod that works well too.
That was a real cool little tip, thanks 👍
Why don't you just use a mechanic's stethoscope?
There's still great herbal healers online thanks so much Dr. kwaloe on you tube for helping me get rid of the contagious herpes virus that almost cost me my job due to back to back outbreaks.
The Garden hose works well too.
Great idea, thanks. It would have been nice to show the difference between bad and good sound.
heavy!!!!!!!
Brilliant
Thank you for teaching this amazing trick
Man that seems really dangerous
can you use a milk carton
You should be careful when wearing a hoodie with the hood draw string daggling. They could get caught a moving fan or belt and pull your head in or cause some other harm to you.
Are you touching the hose to the belt or the pulley or does it matter?
A length of 3/8 flexible hose works too. One end in your ear and the other close to the pully. Works a treat. Just did it.
Hi Sir, where did stick the Screw Driver. On the PULLEY OR ON THE BELT ONLY
Whatever isn't bad remove and re-pack with red Mobil-1 synthetic grease.
Quick question right not just change the tensioner pulley instead of the whole part?
Fantastic. Thank you for this idea!
Great idea!
