I just bought a civic same kinda story. Customer ran mine out of oil. Bought it for 200 bucks. Just bought a used engine for 700 bucks. Throw a timing belt and water pump on it. Got a good gas sipper for 1200 ish. A biden beater as their called lol
2004 Honda Civic EX coupe nice little car ๐
its ok i guess…..if i was going pour blood sweat and tears into an engine project i'd want to start with a better basic car…..a honda accord at least ….. civic is entry level …. its ok …. but i would never buy a reman civic…..an accord is a car you can warm up to.
i drive a mazda2 which is maybe the same car as the civic or even a little smaller…..if i drove more than once a week i'd get rid of the tiny mazda…..but it hates to burn gasoline and it is reliable and trouble free….its a good commuter car if you only drive once a week…..but i wish it was a honda accord.
Another great video.
I don't imagine the workaround for the hood latch lasted for very long, I know on my 93 I just went for the replacement cable lol
Eric O fast and Furious!!!
I have honda I work on. I've learned a lot from the other Eric but I learn more from this Eric.
LOL The Money Light!
The music goes with owning a civic lmao๐คฃ
In Japan they requior to replace the engine at 60 000 miles so you can get that Japanese engine for 600 bucks !!!
Make a shop courtesy car
Yeah after 2 c4 vetted I'd be looking for a bit of rest for my mind
Looky turkey tracks
Pimp that ride with raid you got chitmonks
Lol they got paid for one maybe you should ask for the core
Lol a civic I had one of them didnt have it long after I was set to put it on the road to my surprise there was a crusty rot hole in the subframe we didnt see
i have the exact same one and in red also. had i for 5 years with 238k, great little gas saver. a keeper!
It looks like it has a nice body. Like anything else, a nice body goes a long ways.
Car overheating? Shop: Yep, new heater core is need!!! LOL and more than likely didnt even change it and charged the guy. Man some of these places are scum!!! Eric, you are the best mechanic Ive seen and by far have the best car repair channel! Really wish we could clone u and put u in EVERY shop in America!! Including stealerships!
Sheโs a beaut
Right. Head gasket leak, low on coolant so heater wasn't working right? So they added some coolant, maybe changed the oil mess and charged him for a heater core. Terrible. This is why I have to have a lot of outstanding reviews before taking my cars to anyone.
Hello Civic, cant wait to see you all fixed up
In Japan they make you replace the engine at 60,000 miles for around 600.00 dollars you can buy a used Japanese engine .Scott from N.H.
I had a 92 Civic DX Sedan 5spd Manual I got for 600 bucks and I had it for a year before I bought a 2002 Cavalier Coupe and had that one for 4 yrs and now I have my '13 Honda Fit that I bought brand new the same year and had it ever since and love it!
I had an 85 prelude si with 460k on it overheated during the summer I drove that think temp pegged forever shut it down open the cap what it sail top it off repeat. But it wouldn't die lol
Are the Chrome rings around the instrument cluster factory, or aftermarket? Makes it look like the a previous owner was a Boy-racer!
Its quite easy to re-key any new lock cylinder so they all match the original key set.
I have a civic like that one (but it's the sedan) and I love it. Other than the lack of power, it's quite fun to drive. Mine's been dead reliable too, and what little things I've had to fix have been relatively easy.
Okay kool ya now own a Hondoooo Civic you'll fix it and have a great alternative drive vehicle.
that front wheel looks off centre in that arch
Looks like you may have got a diamond in the rough. I'm going to watch and see how it turns out
Now you can see what fits in your Honda.
It wouldn't be a Civic if the hood release handle wasn't busted off.
Tell me again ,Eric. Is it a Honda or Hondoo and are they the same? I'm confused.
Feel like twins! Got a 2002 civic ex vtec with a 5 speed, coupe, silver. 103k miles paid 2,000 for it.
I've had a few of those 1.7l come in for over heat. I did a pressure test on the cooling system and found the cylinder block had cracked on the exhaust of the engine.
Fix that puppy!!! 166.000 kms is nothing for a Honda!! My formal Honda Civic Aerodeck had 280.000kms and if Eric O was working on it,the thing was still alive!!
ELD p01298 is a faulty load detector from the factory. honda put out a tsb on the 2001-2005 models.
A hondoo? I thought you always said hondonโt!
Never thought I would hear those words in the same sentence . Toyota and 10mpg.
Hi Eric O love your terminology like itโs got a buck 60 on it lol ๐๐๐ป๐ฌ๐ง
Is there a relationship between heater cores and blown head gaskets, aside from not being able to use the heater to save the engine if the core is blown? The heater core in my 2000 Civic stopped working, I bypassed it, and then I blew the head gasket driving seven miles in 70ยฐ weather.
Worst years of civic ever, 2002-2006. We had 3 of them all had head-gaskets blow all head auto trans replaced. Multiple times. Good luck with it.
Yeah no way the heater core was done, oldest trick in the book, charge for something there is no way an average customer can confirm was/wasn't done. Customer, always ask for old parts back to at least put pressure on shop to know your no nob.
Hondoo!
Toyota and Honda have cheap door handles and hood latch handles! Buy American!
Good luck!
a chevy cav better car
Huh, We run as you may know by now, a computer shop. People from time to time just leave us with perfectly good laptops with broken screens they don't want to pay to have replaced or even just a bad hard drive. So we have always some laptops in various states of dis-repair. One of the rehabs is what I am using now. I am envious however of people like you and Ivan who have "cars out back" that were left for dead. But oh my, does it take more money, blood sweat and pather pee to bring a rice rocket like that little civic up to usability standards. Still, it must be cool to have the tools, lifts and such to do what you people do. Even though it's real hard heavy dirty work over and over and over. Thanks again for such a great channel Eric and I'm somewhat happy you didn't win the lotto or that would be the end of the SMA youtube videos we all love. God bless you and your family and may all our shops have a prosperous winter. – Gosh that's another thing. The PCs we work on aren't frozen stiff in a parking lot. So I'll go back to just watching you and counting my blessings up here in Summit County Colorado. ๐
I just started watching your channel. If you put that kind of shitty music in more of your videos there's no way I can stick around.
