I know this is from 5 years ago and you may never see it. but an old guy once taught me you can stick an extension and a swivel thru the holes in the spare and drop the bolt for the entire spare holder and the whole thing will drop on the ground. just watch your head🤣
Or save yourself half an hour and just bypass the control module and power the pump if it’s faulty it will trip the breaker.

Not downing you at all Mr o but I would have cut that cable and got that tire out of my way first thing and unplugged the fuel pump then tested I try to isolate things if I can but you are still the man thanks for the videos I'm a 30 year technician myself and still learn everyday and you are a good teacher always know never assume that's how I was taught 30 years ago

It appears we have some real flunkies designing and building the cars today with all the issues that come with new designs but no responsibility for the outcome of their design. No wonder the dealerships try to con so many people into an expensive warranty they make no honors of accepting. Where did it all go wrong?? I can remember when they sold cars with a free bumper to bumper warranty for up to 100,000 miles. Could it be they lost all confidence in themselves?
What a poor place to mount the FPDM…We had a discussion on why we get field returns at Delco as to mounting of modules. I think there was a Pontiac that had high failure rates because ECM was mounted where front wheel splash would contaminate the wiring. I think the first BCM were in the passenger kick panel to keep them from damage. I think all the manufactures should make the in-tank fuel pump accessible through the trunk or bed of a truck. They could then locate the driver module in a clean dry place.
I'm curious, for the DIYers good with electronics repair maybe you can just swap over the ROM chip(s) when replacing these. Or even rewrite them with a programmer which can be had pretty cheap. Save a trip to the dealer for programming.

My 96 s10 spare tire,cable broke on the entrance ramp getting on the I state . Thankfully car behind me stopped. The tire stopped just over the white line of the 1st lane. Close cal,all is well,lol!

How long can it take to update multiple modules on the bus?
The module burnt power device is in a QFN (Quad Flat No Lead) surface mount power package. Which probably uses a full bridge (maybe just a half bridge? depends on motor operation and circulating currents) PWM modulation to control the fuel pump motor speed. The PCB is most likely bonded to the aluminum heatsink (body) with a special adhesive or double sided adhesive tape.
For suspected electrical connector pin oxidation intermittent connections I use Deoxit D5 contact cleaner/lubricator. After applying D5 on both the module and connector side and reseating the connector if the problem does not go away it is not the connector pin connections unless one is bent or there is a broken wire.
And he said. It would be nice if the Tire wasn't in his way. (LOL) Why didn't you just remove Tire from Work area? It would've been an easy job just to take it out and clean up the Rust so that the Owner could in the Future, remove Tire for Tire Flat. Wouldn't it? I know hard to charge for things like that. Those little things keep your Customers coming back to you. Also, why didn't you just get the proper Tool instead of using the Vise Grips? Just a thought.

Would a 93 k2500 have a computer? I am about to yank pump out of the tank. 0/2 has been out hanging for while , upon time to find an buy y-pipe w/ 0/2 bung hole…. Or battery needing a jump dying "wore out" three year old Spectra pump? So circuit board or sensor? Or just change the pump. Distributor and or rotor would fail gas to throttle body, right ? Sometimes those stupid fuse box clusters go south and need to be replaced. It's a PITA.
Can’t you just ohm, or continuity test the module, from the positive coming in, and any grounds, be sure the problem was not a dead short internally

I've got a good used GM FPCM that I use for quick easy testing. It's very common here in northern MI for the fuel pump driver to fail.

by any chance you see this , my 08 chevy is having similar problems and i cant find the fscm no wheres to be found removed that damn spare tire still nothing found other then a missing crossmember
I have a Chevy 5.7 90s era Yukon. When I put a test light on the distribution box for the main 4 pins of the fuel pump relay I keep getting different results. Sometimes 85 dont work. Sometimes 30. However usually 30 fuel pump ground and 86 constant will work together and 85 pcm and 87 will work together. Right now they all work except 30. But that will change in 30 seconds
Another thing about my S10 Jimmy is there is no safety lock on the spare tire. It comes down easy. But the cable rusted through and the spare tire fell out of the vehicle while I was driving. Another driver ran into the spare and broke his windshield and damaged the top roof. Now we know why GM put the safety lock on newer trucks.
The S10's and Jimmy models don't have that pump control module. S10 just have a relay and are controled by the main computer ecm. Sometimes old school is better. Mounting electronics under the vehicle is kinda dumb.
Love the channel, question about grabbing multiple wires with the amp clamp: without knowing each circuits purpose, would ground wires potentially offset any positive amp readings given the amp clamp is directional?
