Come along with Eric O. as he goes on a service call on his way home after hours to help a customer who is experiencing a "no crank, no start" condition and we get a quick lesson in voltage drop and some test light diagnostics.
Be sure and check out the all new "Outdoor w/ Eric O. Channel" too! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8PwOuadwwI-G2oLRXn3sMA

Needs a bit of fluid film ??
You amaze me such a cool and nice guy Erick your truely a good Joe
Oh yeah the green crusties strike again.
Lol I wondered when youd make another house call totally cool
One side for tightening and other for loosening
Why not check the resistance from the clean post to the wire going to starter
A master mechanic that makes house calls! I remember as a kid when the doctor did that.. Once again Eric, YOU ARE THE MAN!!
Your service call is worth more then the mower !
Eric O, me and my dad always kept our outdoor machines really clean especially the riding mower, we were always waxing it.
House call! I`m in. Sick rider mower? ok…no crank? 1st thing I check battery for life..charge if spanked and clean terminals. I learned on lawnmowers at 9 yrs old, fixed my Dads that had no start issues. Cars at 15. You can learn alot from a chilton book. Great vid as usual Eric O. Another binge watch…lol. You have alot of videos! Awesome.
Crescent wrench.
In AvE speak "manually adjustable nut fucker"
Jeez, once you found the (obvious) voltage drop, why not clean the terminal and then try starting? A five minute job. No need for any more diagnosis!
One side of your crescent wrenches metric and the other side is standard!
a double headed mexican fit-all
Those bendix arms like to get stuck in the up position on those
How about a link to that bicephalic Crescent wrench.
Was waiting for Eric to say…( well theres your problem lady)..haha..
Flat Rate
You didn't even try brake cleaner. 🙄😆
Ah yes, "Service Calls!" Know about those quite well. This one sounded like the fuel pump in the tank wouldn't keep the line pressurized! Good Man, Great Video!
There was a time my tractor’s Briggs and Stratton motor took more and more power to start. I needed to hook up a jump pack to help a fairly new battery. There is an automatic compression release, and it is hooked to the cam. If the valve lash gets out of adjustment, then the release doesn’t work. A quick valve adjustment, just like the one Eric’s brother did on the Cummins fixed it.
Well, back in the early '50s, my Grandfather, a production machinist, made a wrench like that. He called it his "Speed Wrench". A couple of Crescents cut and welded together.
When doing 'piece work' and operating several machines at the same time, set – up time is very important.
It seems that there were several adjustments to be made, quite often. The larger end for three sizes and the smaller for two sizes with a minor thumb adjustment. Replaces five wrenches! Of course the machines were never crusty and always well oiled so not a lot of force was needed. Don't know what ever happened to it.
I've never seen another like it 'till now. If I could find one, I'd get it just to pass it on to my grandsons.
The lawnmower owner has few tools, but somehow has the strangest adjustable wrench ever seen.
Corrosion between post and connector equals big honking resister. Bet you can read across the post/terminal and see a voltage reading.
You can fix that problem with a COCA COLA!!!
next time my ride on mower isn't working I'll drop by SMA,,
Weres the. Obd2 connector were the data
The videos are good but a lot of viewers don't have those expensive toys you have me as a mechanic I do a lot of people are not going to buy a $10.000 scanner so I wish you tell them that
The old double headed thumb detecting nut f er. Great video. Thanks.
I think I would have noticed the dimmer light but likely would have checked with a voltmeter and not had any load. The load part is great info for me, thanks!
Awesome!!
Easy money
No power here, “currently”. LOL!
I'm a tool junky and have a massive collection. Woodworking, metalworking, mechanics, construction, etc. I've never even seen a double headed crescent wrench!
Why not jump the battery to the starter solenoid to quickly see if it'll start instead of doing all that testing? A mechanic could have found out something before now.
Good job
Did you charge for that? I don't know if I would've charged for that, and it would probably give you a customer for life if you didn't. Either way thanks for the video!
That was cool helping don
I really enjoy how thorough you are in your explanation of this seemingly easy diagnosis. Most especially is the voltage difference between the battery terminal and the cable going to the starter solenoid. As always, great job!
I have a brand new RC remote control car won't charge battery out of box. Lost receipt.
Any ideas… Lol
Great video as always.
Thanks for sharing
A refreshing change, great diagnosis
one end is SAE and the other is metric.
Yah didnt check the fuel trims for a vac leak. Just kidding.
And those pseudo goats have the solenoid behind the choke throttle panel and are a PIA to get to.
Why didn't you just plug in the scan tool first and read the trouble codes?
"Scope on a rope". You gotta love it.
so you do small engine repair . so do i.
Lol !! there is a few safety interlocks on these newer lawn mowers.
Seat clutch mower pto and fuel shut off on carb….ridiculous. Most by pass them but it is a liability issue for a shop .
I fixed lawn mowers and mini bikes when I was 9yo…
Dirt bikes go carts out board motors….then cars .
To many kids today just play nonsense on computer games and i phones..We can't get many 20 yo to work here on Long Island…only guys from Mexico work….and they are good mechanics! Soon we will work for them….
Best tool in the box is the one on a mechanic's shoulders.
any codes?
