Erik did you make video on that 67 on lift ? I built 66 drag car.
My 14 Malibu makes a rattle noise only cold starts and soon as I cut it off and turn it back on it doesn’t do it but when it sit for 15 minutes it will do it!
We did this to the same car and now the idle is at 3000 rpm until we put it in drive
got gas, parked the car in some gravel, started it up and got this code.
an 09 cobalt base xfe model, opened the lower pump seemed fine. then opened that rear pump valve and lots of carbon. did some diesel injection. on first start up i can hear one of the pumps.
does the diaphram rip? or does it just get stuck open and wedges itself from moving? also there is a button on the unit, i dont know what it does or if its just a one way valve. can you cut the old unit in half?
symptoms are choppy drive at steady throttle
besides the code, what were the symptoms?
My secondary air injector itself is bad, i cant find where its located anywhere online! Such a pain. If you have time could you please explain where it is so i can replace it? Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Thank. You Eric. I own 2012 Chevy Malibu with 2.4 liter. I learn more about my engine.
Very helpful, thank you!
Mine says fault on these on my car using my tool. So what is this thing called to order
Great
What scan tool do you recommend?
Which do you like better the Autel in the vid or the new Bosch scanner? I know the recording sucks on Autel live data
Thanks
@southmainauto is there any consideration when removing the hose that runs to that valve? Unfortunately GM designed it in such a way that it blocks one of the thermostat bolts, which is coincidentally what I need to replace!
Please help … my Malibu 09 … has no check light on .. rpms rev up when slowing down or letting off gas , my motor will rev up to t times ? Seems to be making my trans not shift well .. what could it be ? ANY HELP WILL GREATLY BE APPRECIATED
I have a 2010 Malibu with the 2.4L, I have a this brief noise on cold starts. After research I've learned that it is an air pump (I'm assuming it's the AIS) that is required for emissions in some states. In your opinion does this sound accurate to you and if so is there a way to quiet it down? Thank you in advance.
Thanks for the video & Info….God Bless You ¡¡¡¡¡
Eric, is your Actron CP9670 capable of doing these test's? I am considering purchasing the Actron for home and you haven't done a review of it yet.
I just had this problem on my 10 Impala are these really that common on Chevy's
I have a 2011 Malibu my car will not accelerate when in drive or reverse. I cut the vehicle off then restart tge vehicle the car will then drive about 5 mins then accelerate slow down. What may this be???
I was working on a chevy truck with the same system. The intake fresh air hose was in a location that every time you drove thru a puddle of water it would suck water in. So I moved to to a higher location.
Do those east coast wiper blades come with paper attached or is that extra?
good video nice 67 chevelle on the lift in the next bay
Is there a kit to update your car to have autopilot, you know so I can watch SMA videos while riding down the road.
Good fix to learn those 2.4s are getting popular
thanks….Where did you get the small yellow test lead you used in testing and cost ?….thanks ….bob
That sure is a fancy scope on a rope youre using there LOL I like it Thanks for all your awesome videos
How do you like your new test light? Is that a Mac Tool test light?
Wonder if the owner of that pretty blue 67 would have an interest in a 400 small block. Its a 1980 2 bolt main short block with a crower perf cam, new chain, water pump, balancer & pulleys. Also have 882 bare heads, non EGR cast 4bbl manifolds, Rochester Quadrajet carbs. Not to far away in PA so would even deliver.
Cool video
I'm with Mr Carroll, I thought air injection had gone the way of the carburetor and the metal oil can.
I like it.
Eric O, how you doing? Good I hope.
Eric, how do you keep your hands so soft and supple? Any product that you recommend for keeping them from looking like "mans hands"? Oh, by the way. Nice video as always mate!
nice Dr o
I got the same car, with that famous code po2135. we already changed the pedal and throttle body and it still goes into engine power reduce mode. dealer already changed the ecm, figuring that was that but still its doing that. What do you think it might be?
what kind of test light is that and where can i find one?
I miss the good ol days when you only needed air/spark/fuel.
Do the Subaru PZEO engines work in the same fashion? Are they worth the extra cost if something like this happens?
Eric I'm waiting for the video where you get a Husqvarna riding mower and swap out the 24hp V-twin for a 395hp Hemi…..:-)
GM, payin' the bills, as usual! LOL
That Chevelle in the background was close to GM's peak – all downhill from '73 on. 🙁
Hey Dr O, what about a "Throwback Thursday" segment where you can dive in to lost technologies like points style ignitions? I bet you still have a flex shaft hex driver for setting dwell on GM's. Other topics could be drum brakes and generator charging systems with external regulators. Let's help the new kids, under 40, with old fart tech. Thanks again,
I'm glad my Malibu is an 08 and doesn't have that stupid system on it! I noticed in the video that Malibu had new variable timing solenoid valves
the great blue Chevy please
Awesome as always. You could also use a relay jumper like the Lisle set to turn the pump on. Yes these air pump systems are ridiculous. I deleted the one on my sons 93 F150. Yes it's a Ford but it was his Grandfathers truck ( mothers side, my dad would never drive a Ford lol ). I may have to pick up a digital test light just because.
Thanks for the straight poop on the bow tie. Can't wait for your next installment.
Ok, so you fixed this Malibu, what about that Malibu in the other bay?
