Lets have a look at this 2008 Jeep Compass that came in with the ABS, ESP Lights on. I find it has a stored trouble code C1044 and we also learn about rust and a type 2 wheel speed sensor.
"In a type two sensor, the controller sends 12 volts to sensors. This circuit is both the voltage supply and the signal wire. The second wire is grounded through the controller. Sensor has internal magneto resistance bridge that alters voltage and amperage of the signal circuit. Voltage and amperage is changed by magnetic induction when toothed tone wheel passes wheel speed sensor.
The signal varies in two ways, voltage and amperage. The voltage will vary by about 0.400 volts, about 10.4 to 10.8 volts, and the amperage will vary between 0.007 to 0.014 A. The voltage change can only be seen on the supply/signal wire but the amperage can be seen on both as a square wave pattern."

My ol lady just bought an 08 compass. Was randomly driving it and lost all traction and stability control. Plugged the scanner in and this code popped but for front left tone wheel. Is it safe to drive? Needless to say. We’re broke and can’t afford to fix it.
My 08 Jeep Patriot just had the same problem. Just using a large modified washer on one of the bolts that holds the bearing in to better secure the sensor was enough to fix it. Replacing the bearing or sensor wasnt necessary.
Impressive Rock Auto magnet collection
Sounds like that car needs lower control arms too. I can hear the noise.
AWESOME SCOPEING !
holy body rust batman
Does this issue potentially cause the jeep to go into "limp" mode?
There are times that parts swapping is a good thing as long as the customer is ok with it. While you have something torn apart you might as well get all the crusty crap replaced that you can. That's what I always do on my vehicles. Might cost you more now but it usually keeps you from having to dig back into the same thing any time soon.
Thanks to the video I managed to self access and fix my issues without the dealership.
Thanks for the uploads..
I should send u a model train and make your own railroad so trains dont stop your diagnosis lol
This video helped me a lot. Thank you
Clip that holds sensor wire breaks. Clip is part of hub bearing.
The begining with the music made it feel like "this old house" lol
had a ford tone ring crack and spread just enough…..
Interestingn
2007 jeep compass check engine light on and gas cap reads under check engine light. I replaced the gas cap 3 time and still reads the same any idea what I can try to fix so it will clear. HELP
Very cool
RUST or upstate NEW YORK flavor or spice ?
What could that kid possibly doing with that impact … wow. I hope he's not tightening lug nuts.
cars dont even use ABS 99% of the time. gimmick for the most part. another thing to break and cause a check engine light. should be a off switch to tell it to be quiet to save the engine light for more important faults like oxygen sensors. but even with those you can small if its rich or feel if its lean cuz lack of power. my car doesnt have it and im glad.
I go with a snap on scan tool. sorry no offense
Hi! I have a 2003 windstar when I replace the right rear abs sensor because it was broken the magnet part, now my advance trac light is ON
how you fucking remove the fucking senor!
y
Screwdriver, Prybar, punch, skewer…
Put that Autel on Ebay!
"…AUTEL makes too much 'HASH' "– This expensive tool does more than I thought, LOL.
we definitely need to get big Nasty it's own intro music! possibly some 70's porn music lmao
30 k subs!
since reading is an integral part of being a tech in todays world, I'm laughing at how much trouble the word gave you. You're from New York, not Kentucky! (it's not in-TEEEEE-gral)
they're far too busy fixing all the scan tool failures, under warranty, to work on any updates to the scope,
When back-probing have the common courtesy to give a reach-around.
Come on bro, I own a nissan and I been following your chanel for the last few weeks hopping for a nissan fix, and the one you have it's the shortest video and it's because a rock on the brakes. Really
Come on
Yeah you deff need to take care of the phone ringin problem along with the door chimin! Cause ya gonna keep "loosing" subs if ya dont Haha! Grats on 30,000+ subs. Another great vid bubba! Lookin forward to #2
30k subs….growing fast eric O.
Nice job, Eric! That Autel scope has so much potential, even compared to the PicoScope! The drag and zoom on the touch screen is pretty dang slick.
Alright enough of this boring waveform analysis…I'm only here to see the rust battle in Part 2 LOL!
How do you like that new Mac ratchet compared to the dual 80 snap on?
Just did the same one the other day, get the torch ready!
That, to be continued, snuck up on me.
Those bolts are gonna hurt! Leave it outside for another couple of hours and let bolts rot out! Nice video. There is a good video about MRE sensor operation, it's a guy with a note pad and pen, don't remember his name though sorry. Think it's called MRE wheel speed sensor.
The "bad spot" on the waveform looks periodic; the sensor passes that spot on every revolution. I am guessing the issue is on the bearing.
Must be the Chrysler time of year for repair videos. Last few have been Chrysler's.
Oh my mistake, its always the time of year for poorly built, badly designed, always rusting, designed for obsolescence, screw the customer service repping, paper thin sheet metal using, crappy painted, pitiful 2.7 liter engined , oil sludge producing, premature transmission grenading, air bag recalling, rear strut mount shattering, water pump failing, power distribution module corroding, Pacifica ground wire green crusty collecting, No turn signaling, blend door breaking, wheel bearing wearing, exhaust manifold cracking CHRYSLER PRODUCT.. I feel better now getting that off my chest.. Take Care Eric
Your electronics are much nicer than my Dwell meter and timing light, but I don't envy your New York rust and crusty. Thankfully not much of a problem in Oklahoma. Thanks for the video!
Hmm, the glitches seem evenly spaced, tone ring possibly?
right rear…or was it the front driver's side???
looks like we'll need the torch in part 2
Did you and Ivan coordinate these latest videos? lol
