Tool reviews are not my forte but I was asked a lot of questions about this light when I posted it up on my Facebook page. I am not much for typing so I thought this might be easier. I believe I show this light in an upcoming vid at some point but wanted to get on this before I forgot.
Check out the lights here in the SMA "A-store" if you are considering getting your own:

Mr.O and Mrs.O. What a great cOmbo.
Wow. Mrs "O" is hot! I mean great light Thanks
I agree with Eric that the coaxial charging receptacle is a much more robust solution than the micro-USB receptacle. And, he’s correct in stating that there’s too many flavors of the coaxial receptacle out there to call it a standard.
I own two of the Astro lights and many other rechargeable devices with the micro-USB charging receptacles and I won’t buy any more. They are too finicky and fragile and a much better solution, USB-C, is available to the designers. USB-C is likely to be the next standard charging receptacles on devices like this and it’s been available for long enough that there’s no excuse for any vendor that wants to provide a quality product to use micro-USB. Unlike micro-USB, USB-C connectors can be inserted without paying attention to orientation and they are much more robust and feature a higher and more consistent pull-out force. I don’t care if I have to pay a buck more for a better charging solution if it prevents me from having to add to my collection of useless devices that have failed because I can no longer charge them due to damaged conductors in their micro-USB charging ports.
Shoulda ket Mrs. O have a toss of the red one. Treat yourself to stress relief.
“It’s like a woman, a little sensitive”…. great quote.
I only watch because your wife is beautiful
Mrs. O adds real CLASS to your review!
I stuck mine to a lower control arm and forgot about it, turned the wheel, no more light. It broke but still works! I ordered 4 more. 2 for work, 2 for stupid

"It's like a woman, it's really sensitive" 😆😂🤣
Great vid!
i want to know whats in that astro case !!!!!
Thanks, Eric. I had already freeze-framed earlier videos to find the manufacturer of the light (40SL) and bought a two pack, one for me and one for my son. Months later, just today, see this video! Agreed, it’s a great light and thanks for all you do!
Oh yeah my light I got came with a hook lol
Eric, I have a good story and will also be a tool review of my own for the same light you have the Astro 40SL. (not sponsor lol) I had just got done watching this video of your tool review. I went out to get in my 2012 Chevy1500 and found the front left tire was flat. lucky I was home. so I went to put the spare on. You know how the spare tire winches can be on these trucks. but I was lucky and the only problem I had was trying to get the rod on the square peg to lower the tire down. Being I couldn't see I got my Astro 40SL light. I love that thing it is so bright. and I can confirm that the magnet on the bottom is very strong. So I took my Astro light under the truck and put it on the tail pipe so I could see. I got the tire down and got the spare on, being in a hurry and not thinking I forgot my light under the truck on the tail pipe. And yes I drove away with it there. I drove to town 5 miles one way and back another 5 miles. So 10 miles round trip going over rough roads and RR tracks. When I got home I walk into the shop and it hit me I left my light under the truck. I figured it was gone being how far I drove and what all I had to go over. So I got under the truck to look and damn it was still there with the only thing holding it was the magnet on the tail pipe and the light was shining bright the whole time. So I have to say this is one hell of a light. Thanks for the videos and keep up the good work.
Coincidentally, oddly, I was watching a video of yours just last night (fluid undercoating maybe?) and actually froze the frame so I could read the manufacturer of your light (ASTRO) and spent several minutes searching around for it. AND there in the right frame just now is your 'tool review'! That was awesome .. and fun .. and nice to meet your better half while we're at it. Continued success (PS I know you produced this in 2016 but I just happened upon it this evening. Hey! I see your Erich the Car Guy Meet-Up video next in the right panel. Going there now. PS Just fixed my horn on my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan with your help (and Eric's as it turns out).
Great show video as always you and your men's make s fantastic couple. Keep up the great work bruv
Great review Mr.O!!!
Mrs o give eric the look of i have such a amazing husband and what else is he going todo to impress me
Mrs o is awsome
I have the 40sl.
The thing rocks. I will buy again/more.
More of Mrs. O. Please
FYI,The meter that measures light is a foot candle meter. And a reference to use when selecting a light source is – a 60 watt light bulb give you 860 lumens of light at approx. 8 feet away from its light source. So the auto light you are using is 410 lumens. So roughly 30 watts but at 1 to 2 feet away from its work surface.
Because of you Eric, I have a led light now. I've used regular flashlights. Mine is folding and dimmable too. Its great
12.99 on ebay
I need that.
Love Mrs O, she is gorgeous!
I bought all of my tools back in the 80's-90's so they are all made in the USA 💪
Whatever you do, DO NOT look at the original design from the motherland, the Hazet 1979-9.0. It's the work light nirvana version of them all. But it's $91 retail in the U.S.
Thanks for the review, I saw in a recent video you have the under hood light, how do you like that?
I didn’t expect to see a Jedi throwing light saber around on an SMA video.
👍Good stuff👍 Thx Eric. I have very Low vision (retinal damage) & a bright light is a must for most everything I do. After your review I sent the ASTRO info to my wife. Today , she surprised me with the 65SL for my 53 Bday. TOTALLY SHOCKED as I had forgotten about it. Let me just say this light is SUPER bright! Love it! Wish I’d had it the other day when replacing the VVT & cam sensor on her old TrailBlazer!
I can’t say enough good things about it’s brightness & what seems like GREAT build quality. SUPER NICE!
Thanks again, I see much better👍✊✌️🇺🇸
Aaaaahhhh! You knocked Mr. Jughead down…
The true test is the hurl test twice if it still works maybe
I bought that 40SL Live that light and more recently bought a rechargeable magnetic Mac too light. My to fav!
Working on my own truck last night with my new Astra tools when I found myself saying to myself “Give her the full beans” when I had troubles getting a bolt off.
"… It's like a woman … It's a little sensitive…" 🙂
After watching this I went to your Amazon page and had my daughter order me the Astro Pneumatic Tool 65SL for fathers day………..Stevie Wonder could see if he used this light!
THANK YOU . MRS O YOU HAS HELP ME TO CHOOSE
THANK YOU AGAIN, I M LOOKING FOR MECHANIC FLASHLIGHT AND YOU HELP. ASTRO BRAND
Do you buy most of your Astro pneumatic tools online or does a tool truck visit now and then which sells Astro tools?
After watching the entire video, I wasn’t interested in lights. But “pulling the veins out of your arms” cracked me up. Your sense of humor is just what I needed after coming home from a stressful day. And the lady near the end, was so nice, her smile and comments, just added to the excellent video, and thank you both.
Really nice videos. Thank you for making them. You’re funny too!
Man i really love my 40SL. Best light i have ever owned. Don't know how i lived without it before now. I wouldn't have known about it if not for this video. Mine came with a hook on it. I guess they made the change after seeing your video. Thanks for that.
I have to say those sure are attractive hooks.
What happens to your Astro light when the battery finally dies and won't charge any longer? You'll probably have to throw your entire Astro away unless the battery is easily replaceable and available. You know that they all will die, eventually. There's a similar light, at harbor freight, called the Braun light. It is very similar to your Astro only it uses a common lithium-ion battery (18650) that is sold everywhere and it is very easy to change in the Braun light. You could even get a spare battery and charge it and use it as a spare to keep the light going when the original battery discharges, completely.
Cool lights.
Looks like a pregnancy test with a "Plan C" attachment
I bought an Astro 40SL a year or so back… LOVE IT…. It's my go to light…
