Great vid. Would luv to see old valve-piston condition but maybe next time.
Great job
Very professional
Well done.
Great job as usual Eric. Did the customer ever decide to replace the compressor with a used one?
Dude, Ive been an auto tech for 45 years and just wanted to say I could work with you anytime
At the end of the Mr O still says 'if I can do it, you can do it'. Er, nope lol. Way too much for me the non/pretend mechanic. But I'm sure loads of you can. Hi from 2022. I'm playing catch up. One question, how come Mrs O never ages? Does she have a picture of Dorian Gray in her attic/loft? Great series Mr O. Really appreciated it.
Well that's proof that it can be done without dropping the whole cradle. Also with limited engine hoist space. Great follow along ๐
I doubt that it is a flywheel. More likely it is a flex plate.
Junkyard Engine Sounds Pretty Smooth Good Video Very Entertaining Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
That intake manifold Is Nasty Lots of old nasty Gross oil good Series Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Putting a motor in 50 yrs. ago was a tad easier.
I thought you were going to lift that hood by yourself. Didn't see Hanna
I have a 2005 vibe if it does not sell i will be changing the engine in it to
ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO
Lol torque wrench go braaaaap
I've got time on my hands due to a minor outpatient surgery so i binge watched this engine swap video from start to finish. I have watched so many of your videos I feel like I should add you to my xmas card list ( if i had one ) I think this is my first comment and your going to call me a hater but when i change an engine i like to clean the parts like the engine cover air box ect.The intake looked so good then that engine cover went on and well. I have told my kids many times to keep there cars clean because when they start looking like a piece of s*** you start treating it like a piece of s*** and it becomes a piece of s*** .That aside you are the best all around mechanic I have ever seen .You have the gift of being mechanically inclined and a good work ethic and i,m sure you would be good at any job that required tools and a brain and your young have a good family and a sense of humor you have it all. your richest man in south main or new york or both
Clean cover
Great series! Wish we saw the first crank/startup
It's the Covid time here and I wish I was busy like you. I also wish I was there to see even the jobs you do off camera.
My 71 Olds 98 had an engine swap and they did the least work they needed to do. Crooked hood, missing bolt from the motor mount bracket to the block, no nut on long bolt through that mount. Loose intake bolts, you get the picture. I was upset to say the least.
Amazing job Eric. Every South Main Auto video I watch I learn a boat load of new information. Great series Eric. Thank you, Mrs. O, and Hanna.
You are a great Mechanic!
Right meow ..๐
More engine swaps if and when they come in pls …stay safe you guys… virus …. just wonder did you change the spark plugs
Great work Erick
Back when the hats bill was still together
Unfortunately I've had to sink a couple transitions to the engine with the bolts I've never had a issue though
the only problem i had with this…..and this is probably my OCD talking but…..why didn't you give the engine a good clean? I mean it was out.
FROM PART 3: When trying to stretch cloth or leather in any upholstery setting use steam. It provides extra stretch and makes it less likely to tear. A lot of steam equals less muscle and smoother installs, and makes for a happier MRS. O.
I drew a engine in once with bolts. Guess what happened broke the front pump on a 8k Subaru transmission. Boss was pissed. I fixed it for free
WOW SPEECHLESS
Nice process
Man Eric you even make an engineectomy look EZ. Actually it's more of a transplant isn't it. I had to watch your mini series to the very end. Well done sir.
I do a sketch of how the serpentine belt came off when I remove it, to save me looking it up later, or you can take a picture.
I know this is really late but Toyota make one of the converter bolts with a taper so it centralises the rest of the bolts. It's usually also a different colour.
Awesum!!
PLEASE CUT THOSE PULL STRINGS OFF OF YOURย HOODIE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know I'm late to the game with this comment, but I like the engine swap videos, and other bigger projects. I especially liked this one, since I have a Corolla close to the same model year. Different car in many ways, but under the hood, it looks the same as mine. This series will help me whenever I'm tinkering.
Great job topped off with a dirty valve cover. Sorry, no way I don't wash that thing before placing it over all that hard work and great running engine. Just me I reckon. And no, in order for it to make the engine run better, Eric, it has to be clean. At least for the 5 minutes it'll have before it hits the dirt roads again. And yes, a clean valve cover would be a mismatch for the rest of that dirty engine, but then, it does sit on top. I guess that's why I just clean cars and don't work on them. I did love the video, Eric and thanx for making it for us. ๐
Six months of saving on no oil changes or transmission fluid changes, to pay for it all at once plus interest
That's a bit more involved than swapping out a deuce and a half engine, mostly due to the FWD configuration.
These engines are usually pretty bulletproof … but abuse will kill anything
Had a Izuzu Trooper many years back , it had GM Parts on it as well , half the thing was GM Parts and the other half Toyota parts ( branded Izuzu ) Had friend who worked in Japan and China for couple years each , told me lots of GM Vehichles over there branded under the Toyota name , they all say they are in competition but in reality they are more partners in the Global World if trade and commerce . We were in France several years back quite few Ford's being sold under the Fiat name , opened the hood on our friends Fiat and there and behold a Ford Engine 1.6 lt , just really never know
Good swap..icing on the cake would have been cleaning the engine cover before reinstall..only a minute, but visually worth a lot to cusyomer
Nice Work !!! doing the engine job .
I didnโt see the blue paper removed from intake manifold ๐๐คฃ
Bread and butter,no difference in the approach over the pond, except 99% of our gearboxโs are Manuel,so more room needed ,enjoyed video mr o.
loved the vibe video series great work Eric
great series. i watched all 4
What is the cost for R&R on this job?? Was it worth it for the customer
Super clean job dropping that engine in man.
