Heeyyyyyy, Mr. O! What kind of touch screen pen is it that you're using. My Verus really stinks using the touch screen with my finger (lost the little factory 'pen' when a friend slammed it in a door). Thanks!

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars thomas savage says:

Maybe they both have worn timing belts or chains?

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Stacy Dornan says:

I'm going to quit calling your shop everyday for an appointment, you can't fix chit! Wouldn't let you put a spark plug in my mower! Put a closed sign on your door! Good day I'm totally appalled.

Watching this in 2022 and I really enjoy watching your troubleshooting skills at work.
It’s always on point! You don’t give up and stay relatively calm about it. Lol!!!
    Keep up the excellent work!

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars johnnyq1233 says:

Why can't you physically hit TDC on cylinder one and look at the reluctor for position?
There has to be a simple way to confirm that the reluctor ring hasn't moved…
You'll figure it out as you always do!
    Get some sleep..lol

I just rewatched this video Mr Eric O and I personally had a Brain,Eye,Ear,Spine correlation code set..So I went to bed

I want a zip up hoodie but dont see them on ur page as im disabled and cant pull one over my head -_-

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Antonio Claudio Michael says:

Chain slack that makes sense If the chain stretched then the cam and crank correlation would be off just a tiny amount which it dont take much 🤔 makes sense Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Antonio Claudio Michael says:

Interesting both wave forms look the same to me also the chances of both vehicles having the reluctor wheel slipping in the same way and in the same spot is so unlikely this is very intriguing Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Antonio Claudio Michael says:

Wow can't use the wave forms on the blue one that sucks had the same code 🤔😬 @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Antonio Claudio Michael says:

The diag in this one is Defenitly Intriguing very interesting it will run without the crank sensor so it will run on cam sensor only and no CEL Light Hmmm Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars travis allen says:

ERIC O I KNOW THIS IS OLDER VIDEO YOU SHOULD SEND GM A BILL FOR DOING YOUR RESEARCH TO FIGURE THIS OUT

I got a camshaft/crankshaft correlation code when I first got my truck, changed both camshaft sensor's and the crankshaft sensor and never had it again

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jamie Byrd says:

I love these trucks but at the same time I hate them.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Morty M says:

I have ve v calais with GM 3.6 High Feature V6 LY7 with P0017 trouble code. Car runs perfectly fine .No engine light. Only notice code when scaned

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paublus Americanus AMERICANUS says:

Wow this is the first time I have been able to outthink Eric O. I'm kind of shocked because his diagnostic procedures are top notch. The best logic possible and in this case he needs a correct waveform? Not really, you count the notches on the reluctor teeth on the screen and count exactly where the cam sensor is at that time and it has to match exactly after you expand the screen to see the exact position of both. They better match or the light comes on. But he can use his fancy tools and they are top notch. I have to use stuff not made for cars like his are.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scorpio Scythe says:

I changed the crankshaft position sensor for p0017 and reset the codes multiple times. It didn’t stall anymore but the code keeps coming back constantly so I’m kind of clueless on that reason.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars William Aycock says:

I have the same year and model truck. My noise doesn’t go away when you accelerate. it gets louder. I don’t know what to do about it. I can’t afford to fix it either. 🙁 my guess is with it not going away and getting louder is that damage is done. I didn’t have an issue until my last oil change. But this time it doesn’t go away.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mohamed Ahmed says:

The look on your ace when the car started with the crank sensor unplugged was priceless.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rick Rathman says:

Drove one of these as a delivery driver for a auto parts store, what a pos, had nothing but problems with its, took it to several shops, we would always get it back and the same problems would start happening again.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars GarageGymFitness says:

Hi did you ever figure out how to get rid of the P0017 code? I had a full engine replacement and my mechanic is out of ideas. He did testing of the wiring and the light will stay off but come back eventually for the same code. He said he's giving up on it and that I should probably take it to the dealer. Would love some help or insight!

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars lewis montgomery says:

    IATN have good wave forms

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars clevelandrocksdzd says:

Is this a problem with the 3.7L as well?

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MechShark says:

These trucks are such crap. Cheap control arms that go bad all the time, cooling system issues, HVAC issues, O2 sensor sensor issues, over-engineered timing chain design. Total monstrosity. Definitely avoid these trucks. The V8 version fared a bit better from what I hear, and the pre-'06 models seem to be the worst. But don't buy a Colorado 🙂

Hi I have a 04 colorado 4×4 3.5 5 cyl I did the head oil pump timing kit every sensor was replaced but I'm still pulling a p0017 but the truck runs amazing except every once in awhile I get a skip studder what else could I do?? Please help your the only one that has anything on this situation thank you

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Matt Man Productions says:

During this time, couldn't you have gone to a Dodge dealer and check one of their trucks?

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MC says:

What if on a similar LE5 2.4 Ecotec in 2009 malibu with same P0017 I've changed cam position sensors, both VVT actuator solenoids, full engine timing chain (both chains), new chains/phasers/sprockets/chains, wiring to VVT solenoids.. this is maddening, GM dealer claims my reluctor ring on exhaust cam slipped (I'm quite sure they never took the cam cover off, just based it on the code), I used their own TSB procedure for checking (the whole #1 cylinder valves opened and #4 opened etc..) and both cam reluctor rings are perfectly lining up with the gasket surface. I would drive over if I wasn't 7 hours away from you in NH and gladly get you business. Any ideas what else to look at?

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ruben Garcia says:

I am doing one of these at the shop your case study helped a lot I just have one question how did you know the relucter wheel did not move I been looking for info of where it should be and can’t find any info on it

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Emmet Myers says:

I wonder if you could move the cam or crank sensor some maybe after a file in the bolt holes? just need a degree maybe a mm would do? just for a test. unless sit works 🙂

I had a stretched timing chain on a 1990 Buick Skylark with a 2.4L 4-cylinder. It took the guy about 2-3 hours and cost me about $400. What the heck Chevy?

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Willie Gillie says:

Sucks you couldn’t get a break on checking another vehicles cam and crank signal but heh you’ll get another one to do and you’ll know just how to do it. Should be able to buzz through that one. Job security. I will say since the variable valve system hit the auto market it sure has added a whole new problem to deal with in these newer cars.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Duncan Mac says:

How you get it sorted. Thanks for the video.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JunkGarage says:

had to do it once when the 3v engines where new with a 5.4 with an iradic idle when hot. turned out on that one the oil pressure if it dropped under 20psi the phasers where no longer able to hold cam position rev the engine up ran fine cold ran fine

guy got a new engine under warranty
