Awesome
Great videos on this corvette. I’m just having the fuel injectors done on my 40,000 mile 1990 Corvette right now as it was quitting intermittently then wouldn’t run at all sometimes. They believe it’s a similar issue with bad injectors. Very informative videos on both the diagnosis and the repair.
I have a question why do people say holy smokis a holy smoke's plural instead of holy smoke the correct way? If you use the term smokes (plural) that means you would have to be referring to a cigarette as in smokes plural. That is the only way the word smoke can be in the plural form, and that is why I don't understand when people say holy smokes instead of holy smoke.Has anyone else ever thought of this?
I've been watching for awhile, you are a master at your craft. I've seen you modestly sway away from that statis. Don't. Be proud of what you have become. Continue what you started, we as viewers are very much appreciative.
One of my favorite cars!
GOD FORBID – a problem occurs with one of the injector O-rings during installation and it does not seal and leaks – 😧, seeing how they are buried under the intake manifold. Again – your professionalism and technical knowledge stands out – as you tested for any possible fuel leaks BEFORE completing the installation of the intake manifold . 👍👍✌️✌️✌️
What patience – I am fairly certain I would have removed the intake elbows to have better access to the injectors ✌️✌️✌️
Man that suspension waddle though! lol
You didn't get left and right backwards you just drunk on pie
Beautiful Car. Not on the same level but I was going to buy a Mercedes Coupe. Great Car, handled well but like this Car you felt every bump in the road. I know Eric says he doesn't like working on the old Cars but when a Car was a Car and not a computer there was just something about them. If it was mine it would do more than 400 miles a year but with the weather you get up there it makes sense. Great video series. Thanks Eric.
As usual your awesome!
what a miserable design on those plenums…
Delve into the Nostalgia Box 📦 Eric, new subscriber here, loving the channel and content, especially the methodical electrical gremlin repairs, Thx 👍🏼
Need to take it out and Purge the plasma injectors.
Wow, I am so spoiled by the LS Platform, the old LT intake is a nightmare. How long does it take to swap injectors on a Gen3/4 Vortec? 30 min? if that?
Really curious about the part you couldn't get out it almost looks like it could have been separated by removing the bolts on either end you know the 2 bar seperators. I can see theoine side the left corner if you look there you see it does look like that bar could be removed with 4 bolts 2 each side and that would let you take it out in 4 pieces.
Eric how come you didnt pull the wheels off the front end so you can get closer to that chevy thunder maker so your not bent over so much and closer to the work. The first 87 I worked on was the same way.
It will run hot if the distributor isn't in correctly…
Distributor is way off… #2 pointing at 12 o clock means it's off bye 2 teeth..
Vanessa needs to write a cook book for mechanics !! Like that desert Eric.
Do u have a video that shows how to fix oil pressure gauge? My gauge seems to be stuck at high. Not fluctuating however. Thanks from Sal.
AMAZING!!!
Fascinating diagnosis! I need to teach you American. It's aluminum, not Aluminium! Greetings from England 😁
i see you eatin cake and sandwiches but i never see you drinking any coffee…. where's the coffee? WHERE"S THE FRIGGIN COFFEE MAN?
Good job my friend. Happy New Year's Eve to you and your family.
This couldn’t have been don correctly. You always have something that wasn’t needed .
Wow !!!! Just left part one..Dec 27/2021. I must say, you do take a lot of guessing out of doing injectors on this 89 Vette. I bought mine back in 1991 in Napoleon Ohio. Thru the years I have worked on it as needed. I drove from Kent Ohio to Key West and back, drove to New York and back. Canada and on nice days just going to car shows. It has miles on it but, has never left me out on the side of the road. It once did have a problem going to Kentucky and the catalytic converters went bad. I lucked out for there was a Midas muffler shop close to where we were and in a few hours and 600.00 dollars, we were on our way. Of course, any old car does need attention to keep going. As long as you take good care of it. I am only a back yard what they call, mechanic. And the way I did things back in the 60's 70's 80's and so on was, everything you take apart, I put in order as I took it apart on the table I, also wrote notes as needed. And I thought I heard you say, that, the vette takes a little time for the motor to start. That is true, for mine if it sits over night, the next day, I turn on the key, and wait for the fuel pump to stop running then, as I am starting the motor I count to 6 and it starts. Now once it warms up It does start a little faster. Of course I only do work on my cars. That way I save some money. Now a days at 74, I still enjoy working on old cars and old Harley's. But, any thing I can not figure out, I do have a friend who has a shop and is young and knowledgeable like you. I want to say thank you and keep up the good work…… Bobby…….
O rings require a silicone-based lubricant, not petroleum-based. Parker makes a good O ring lube!
Even though you are up there on the map you still the same guy that started with a few viewers one day simple sharing humble comments and lunch time at the shop with us the viewers like me that says a lot about a good mechanic and human being thanks for your values thanks again
What was the diagnosis on this car. No time to watch the whole thing but it looks like Eric is changing the fuel injectors from comments. Why would fuel injectors not function on a hot restart but would function cold. Interested.
Ti meg mindig ilyen csata hajokkal jartok? No start when hot? egy vödör hidegviz segit 🙂
Besides the way the whole front flips up on the C4, the C5 is way easier to work on.
Interesting approach. I would have sprayed starting fluid into the intake and if it starts then I know the problem is fuel. If the car has the original injectors, then I would have suspected them as this is common on the older C4's. Too bad you have to remove so much plumbing to get to them all.
Old car? I'd be masking up every time I ran a those grinders. Fine dust like that aint good on the lungs.
Some hobbyists have this capability for such a small plastic part Critical is having right material to print so can withstand automotive environment.
Does anyone have a model of the part? One could then 3-D print more, I suspect easily, if no model could 3-D scan it then convert to part model.
That TPI engine took me back Thay are still good-looking engines.
Love your vids…learn alot
Being an old school mechanic I can really appreciate your diagnostics and technics. When I took my 2004 Honda Accord to the Honda dealer to get a problem with the AC fixed I had already diagnosed what the problem was, "blend door actuator". Heat coming out of the left vent, cold coming out of the right. They kept pushing the AC leak theory, putting dye in the ac during a refill it didn't need. I told them a leak would not have anything to do with heat and cold coming out of vents at the same time. $166.00 later and they still won't admit to their incompetence. We went round and round about that. Troubleshooting is my passion. Not solving a problem drives me crazy. "The blend door is sticking"
Great job! Keep up the good work.
A job you really enjoy and have a mastery of; a beautiful wife and helpmeet; a peaceful life in a small town with cool old architecture and inhabitants that don't riot and burn and loot and destroy other people's property. you have it made! Congratulations!
Me when I have lean issue driving then no start i shoot a little starting fluid to check fuel system.
the bill$ is how much? LOL!
Eric,
Loved the entire video. Brought me back to my second vet. I had a 71 and 87. The injectore removal was super interesting to watch and your use of the paste lube was the saviour in my opinion. Great job.
Have a great holiday if your reading this now. November 27, 2021.
These were fairly east to work on compared to some earlier injectors. These cars always feel like riding down the road in a horse and buggy…rough but pulled by a race horse.
what a shit set up chevy made
I have seen many of those older 5.0 n 5.7 injectors shorted. Each side is a parallel circuit. When one is shorted then none of them work right. On the older V6s they burned out the drivers in the computer. Rules of Parallel…
Same set up in the 3rd gen Camaro, Firebirds. Constant issue's with those. Throttle body was a way better system. Lol Back breaking cars for drive but fun
Some of the newer stuff ain't much better. All plastic Crap now!
as a marine engineer on ship and it is all about wrench pulling on big engine so looking at this small engine trouble shooting and repair you do have patience.Good for you love watcing your video.
