In this video we take a look at this 1999 Honda Accord that was dropped off with a symptom of no horn, no cruise control and the air bag light was on. Sounds like a pretty classic symptoms of a clock spring / cable reel so lets grab the test light and do the hoki-poki 🙂

Who else thought I heard Eric the car guys voice at first listening?
Lotta times the horn will blow with the wheel in the 90° position, but not in the straight ahead. The contacts wear out where the wheel spends most its time.
My name is don wish I lived in your area would stop in just to watch you I live in Washington state
Manufactured love to raised more problem cruise control and horn should never connected to clock spring , weak wire tape circuits in clock spring , no wonder Honda got too many recall or SRS terrible design engineering horn and cruise control in clock spring LOL !!!
Toyota’s are the same for most models and years especially 3rd gen 4runners 1st gen tacos and 1st and second-gen tundra's as well the clock spring controls srs, horn, And the cruise Control as well as other models Hondas are similar in most aspects good Diagnostics process Eric O always good to follow 1 problem path at a time normally always leads to to the problem @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Fantastic job.wish it worked for my odyssey.stupid srs light won'tgo out. I even did short the wires test. Nope but i guess it's a honda odyssey problem.
Thank You for teaching us. Go home and relax.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten a Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
My neighbor and his son had pulled the steering wheel off of his ford truck for whatever reason. And when I got home from work they came and got me and showed me the two little bolts they had left over asking do we need these in there. I had to laugh because I knew what those bolts were for and what a pain they were to put in. So I told them to take the wheel off and I would show them where they went and how to get them in and tight. They learned their lesson about just pulling something apart and not getting it back together correct.
Amazing video.. Learned a lot.
Anyone have the SRS light on and cruise not working BUT the horn buttons do? My 1999 Civic has this. Read the code via the service plug under passenger kick panel and got code 1-1 (driver airbag open circuit)
Hey Eric, man would I love to work with you. You're awesome! I watch your videos everyday. You amaze me and I've been a tech for over 30 years. Keep it up brother!
How can you get a horn button not to stick on. Would it help lift up on the airbag when putting the bolts in. Please get back to me. I have the horn switch unplugged. It just happens when I put the air bag on
Hey Eric do you check your messages on here. I have a question to ask if you could reply
Don't guess.. test..
Never fail to learn something from A SMA video – what a great explanation of the clock spring – well done !
Thanks, have the exact same problem on my moms Honda, saved me lots of troubleshooting time.
Question its the same thing for 2006 Honda Accord because I have the same problem
I bought my granddaughter a 2000 CRV with numerous problems, one of which was: no horn. I read the haynes manual and says: what the hell is a clock spring? Now I know. Thanks, Eric!
Thank you Sir, for your Channel, Love the automotive advice and watching how you solve problems. Cool
So cool. I actually worked at the factory that produced the cable reels.
Clock spring. Didn't watch the video yet.
Your the best sir happy fathers day
Hang on- my 02 accord has the fan settings on the right side and temp settings on the left. Did they change it after a couple years or is it because of a different trim package?

Really where you located I'm good with my hands
There's your problem Lady. Hondont ran the wiring around the horns ass to get to its elbow. College Fund Money..
As soon as I read the title my first thought was clock spring.
Really love your videos, your talent and sense of humor. You actually motivate others to take challenges. Man you’re gifted always remember. Thank you so much for your hard work and service to the community.
When u tested the horn relay and it was "all good" what would have been the symptoms if the relay itself was bad?
No break lights need help
Could you tell me how to shop at Wells
Clock spring = wound up ribbon cables.
That looks like a fairly decent Honda.
You can help me 101% if you are fixing a Honda Civic DX 1997. Sad!
You’re kin of winner ant you 😜 lol I love to watch you fox wiring ,you are the best .video was good . Nice job 👍
This is exactly what I was looking for. My car has the same issues. Thank you!
Time to dig in..
Please Eric O, I Need a relay tester!!!!! Can you please tell me WHERE I CAN GET ONE????? PLEASE
My man said" I an't even had time to breathe today"🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣!!
Great job Eric Thanks
For the scope and demo,
I had all the same symptoms in a used 98 accord EX i bought but with one additional symptom -the stop lamp lights kept blowing the fuse located within.under the hood fuse box, which.would caused the shift interlock to not allow the car shifter selecter to not move out of park until fuse was replaced.
I jumped the gun and replaced the clock spring, without first testing the horn relay. And I discovered the driver side horn t was faulty because once I unplugged that horn everything else on that circuit came back to life and no longer blew the fuse for the stop lamps.
Thank you for the video, it helped direct me to the fix ultimately.
give me the name of that piece that you changed please
just the video I needed to watch…having similiar problem with my 2003 Honda /accord ( SRS light stays on, no cruise control and no radio volume ( horn works)
Cool search for the problem
