In this video Ivan ( a SMA Viewer from PA ) and I finish a diagnosis on a 2006 Hyundai Tucson that was giving me fits with a P0173 Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 2) . Again let me say I am thankful for the new friendship and Ivan's willingness to stop me from throwing in the towel and being an inspiration to move on despite how busy the shop was and bring his vast knowledge to the table and share selflessly. Thank You again Ivan!

Here's the difference between true mechanics and doctors one pays less and pays significantly more the other goes in-depth to gane a true understanding even with engineers working against the industry. Switch roles and I wonder?

I'm 7 years behind, hi from 2022. This video blew my mind. The way Ivan and Eric bounced off each other and just brainstormed the whole issue determined to get closure. I'm not a mechanic but I was mesmerised by these two videos. Thanks for sharing, really enjoyed watching them. I just wonder if the owner garage just threw the head back on and sold as seen or put a second hand engine into it. Would be good to know.

I think automotive industry should design sensor for individual rich and lean on each cylinder on the exhaust side for accuracy , so can know which injector is low pressure or high , instead of bank1 sensor1 and bank 2 sensor2

ok well called the cam timing being off at first relative compression test but wasn't expecting the cam twist close to a break im guessing it was close to snapping when it initially got hot was turned off way back when it initially went bad n cooled molecules hardened reformed and she kept on ticking along all be a half of a half tooth off on rear bank, wow every day is a learning curve never think you know everything expect the unexpected bever rule out the impossible as its only implausible till its done !!! good job you bromancers lol

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars dr jay says:

has it jumped a tooth on belt causing the low reading on rear bank

This video was awesome!! How much fun that was!! I'm surprised I have not seen this one before… thought I watched them all.

I've done a few of these interesting type of case studies in the last few yrs and no other geek to share it with. Most of them I didn't have the camera for which I'm so bummed about. Few ppl enjoy this type of work. Scopes, measurements, and all easy tests!! 2 of my fave favorite YTers & friends!! 100% top notch video!! 😍👍🏻👏🏻

I’m literally having the same problem with bank 1 instead of bank 2. Help!!!! I’m out of ideas.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bob Smith says:

Off the chart you didn't give up awesome

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark D. Smith says:

If you just started with a relative compression test I would guest that some one did a front bank head gasket only.

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars EDDIE LEAL says:

This case is one for the books gents! Great job! 👍

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars EDDIE LEAL says:

Code P0173 is triggered by the engine control module (ECM) when it detects that the air-fuel ratio is too lean or too rich. For most lean and rich conditions, the ECM can compensate for the lack or air or gas entering the engine. However, if the amount of compensation is too much, a P0173 code may set. What causes the P0173 code?
A dirty or faulty mass air flow sensor
Leaking intake manifold or torn intake boot
    Vacuum leak
    Faulty fuel injector
    Faulty fuel pressure regulator
    Pinched fuel line

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ken Hardy says:

Best auto diagnostic video EVER! You guys just couldn’t wipe the smiles off of your faces…..and my jaw nearly dropped on the floor when you showed that cam bearing. Kudos to you both, but ya gotta credit Ivan with the final idea to current clamp the starter load….brilliant. That alternating voltage pattern was the bomb. Freaking amazing!! You guys have raised automobile mechanical skills into the same professional league as biomedical diagnostics, electrical engineering, molecular genetics and computer sciences. This was EPIC! Dr. K.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars the reptile guyz says:

You know if you were a car lot mechanic you would just set that cam one more tooth forward put the Caps back on close everything up and ship it thank God you're not that 😂

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jeffrey Small says:

That was a brain test for you ,twisted cam can't believe that good program 👏 keep it coming 👍
