I’ve got a 2018 Chevy that I think needs rear possibly is there a heavy duty option for wheel bearings or is OEM the only option got a quote anywhere from 1200 to 1500 4 x 4 parts out of Dallas Texas. I’m thinking about just replacing the front and rear and getting it done all at once that’s what that price reflects just got a new 0% credit card for 18 months hello debt my old friend.
I just Got finished replacing both front wheel hubs on a 2008 Silverado 4X4. When I took the brake caliper off the stainless steal disk guides was missing. I guess whoever installed new disk pads last just left it out.

People, pay a mechanic to inspect your used car before you buy it, they will tell you to run a way from a POS. Used car dealers have a way of putting lipstick on a pig. You need someone that has worked on the pigs and knows what’s under the lipstick. Nice video in more ways than the diagnostics. Always enjoy my SMA.

Eric, sockets are brand names nut and bolt tools, but are also bearing installers, race installers, centering devices, extension for leverage tools, and when they wear out you grind them for hole punches,!! lol, sorry 46 yrs as a master mechanic, just don't tell the trade schools ( if there are any left )…..Budman….. Easiest way I found was to remove the caliper get the rotor loose then place a peice of scrap 2×4 between the spindle and the rotor then slap on the lug nuts and tighten them.

Hey Eric – I have to torque hub bearing bolts to 96 ft-lbs – they are 13mm bolts – that much torque is distorting my impact socket – feel like I'm going to strip threads… I may have got too much anti-seize on the bolts…
Those stainless slide plates won't rust, but they do pit. I lube them regardless of the dust issue just to add that protective layer. Have no idea if it helps, but it makes me feel like its a job well done.

No, you can't order wheel bearings from Wearever. They only make brakes.
Good old rust belt. You mechanics should get paid a 20% more on your allotted time to fix vehicles in the rust belt.
I've found the air hammer with chisel works well on the axle nut cap. Minimum deforming.

I had both of the piston pushers at the shop I retired from and they are great
I used to clean the holes for the pins with gun barrel cleaning wads. Spray with some brake clean and go to town. Use variable speed drill Works great.
Oh i almost forgot to mention….I own stock in WD40 and CRC penetrating fluids, by the way those generation 1/2 tons are nothing like the OBS GM's in the heavy 3/4 ton and 1 ton front hubs…everything is 3 times the size and weight and you have to knock out the old wheel studs and reseat them on the new hubs…lol so we love those as we get to pull out the torches too! yep air hammer and chisel bits come in handy…Remember if you can do it, I dont want to do it!
also I should mention, on the older GM's…now is the time to order the dust/backing plates for the wheel/hub assembly….so you can replace them while doing the hub/bearing sets…the dust/backing plates sometimes rust completely away and you wouldn't know it existed. And of course do the brake maintenance now too…pads/rotors/pins/calipers
its been a while since I've posted any comments….but lol I've done so darn many GM wheel bearings and Cv joint replacements over the years…you help me with my rust/salt interventions. I'm a snow/ice removal service owner and have only owned 2 Fords over the years, as many as 25 GM's…glutton for punishment?
Heres the problem Eric. Out West, wheel bearings don't go bad. I am 79 yrs old, have owned dozens of cars, never replaced a wheel bearing. You would starve out here!

That back plate is metal stamping made with a punch and die set in a punch press. That birr is caused from a sheared punch and die that needs sharpened.
You know some people wonder what you pay for when you have a shop do these jobs. Just watch and you'll see it's not wham bam thank you mame all done in 15 minutes. My wife always ask me why did replacing the brakes yourself take so long and I'm like ask most mechanics and they'll tell you why. I'm just as thorough as you are when I do these jobs on my own. You learn lots by watching your videos allowing me to do some jobs on my own. So for that thanks!

I couldn’t get my rotor off so I commenced with the persuader. After several minutes of wailing on it, I realized I forgot to remove that little screw that holds on the rotor. Should have known cause I live in California. Not a huge amount of rust on the vehicles here.
Hey mine did same thing but I don't have cutting torch so I took my zippo lighter 😳 it actually worked after 4 days also once I got it all back together the rotor wouldn't budge like 😒 come on man
