Thank you for that very informative tutorial on the MAF sensor. Did it dawn on you, with all due respect, that the lady's car had a power steering leak? The reservoir sounds like a typical Ford (as GM ones rarely leak). I'd know (and be able to diagnose) that loud whine blocks away. Also, Dorman made very high quality wheel parts for decades (studs, lugs, nuts, etc. since the 1st half of the 20th century). I'm surprised that you have a predisposition against their parts (quality). Anyway, it's nice of you to take the time to share your expertise on this critical part…
I have an 08 Buick lucerne that use to stall while driving, then eventually it would only start for a bit then die, then it would not crank, I replaced fuel pump, center fuse block because of fuel pump relay issue and I still have this problem….. any help would be greatly appreciated. FUCK BUICK
Another great video Eric. I own a 02 Buick Regal ls, and love my car. Changed out the MAF sensor and their not cheap. Ive done all my own work. Undid what GM messed up. I take pride in working on my vehicle every time I lift up the hood. Its videos like your Eric that gave me the confidence to do my own repairs. Thank you, and keep the humor and great videos coming.
I just disconnected mine, and car actually runs better without it. Was actually getting tired of looking at the check engine light. I bought the special mass air cleaner, which wasn't cheap, and it didn't fix it. Should have just got one on Eaby when they were $11 shipped, with no tax. Now with tax, it's gonna cost as much as the useless spray cost.
So i have a similar vehicle im working on. Thats got me stumped eric. 05 pontiac grand am. Mass sensor keeps shorting out. Have put three in there in the same day. All short out. I have 12v signal and a good ground. Yellow wire 5v is there. The power runs to the fuse box to fuse 10a with is a shared fuse with ignition. There is also an ignition code on in scan tool. Could the ignition be causing the problem or should i look else where. Kinda at my wits end with the car now.
For some reason, some of these aftermarket mass airflow sensors don't like my 99 Regal. They aren't technically faulty, but the engine doesn't seem to receive them well at all. The engine still feels like its lacking power. I have a sensor from the local Buick dealer that came out of a junkyard Regal (one a few years' newer than mine) and the car flies like a rocket so long as I have it installed. If I put the Delphi mass airflow sensor in, the engine performance feels de-rated. No, there won't be an engine light or MAF sensor code, just the feeling of a de-rated engine. I can put the GM sensor back in and, lo and behold, the full performance (or really close to it) has returned. It's as if the ECM knows it's not a GM sensor, so it's not going to put out 100% power. Maybe I'm crazy but I can tell when the engine isn't as fast as it was, say, yesterday. Just did all four rotors, plus front and rear brakes, for a whopping $600. I deliver pizza for a living (yes, I drive the Regal for work) so I've gotta have brakes. Oh well, the car is highly reliable so I have no plans to junk it.
If the MAF is bad, can it be intermittent? My car drive fine sometimes, but then all of the sudden it will change and it will only idle and when you give it gas it bogs down and conks out.
Had similar problem… Find rubber connector to filter cover slides away and opens hole on the bottom of connection. The clamp was tide. Reset the code and drive again!
I love ur vids! Always informing! I just bought a 2003 lesabre with 98,000 miles. Exellant condition! Runs awesome but idling about 600 or 700rpm. I thought thats a hair to low. Doesn't stall and no codes or lights. Would it be wise to just replace map, maf and air intake sensor as preventive maintenance? Can I just blow some mass air flow cleaner in the mass air flow sensor? These parts are not to expensive anyways. I did clean the iac valve with carb cln and it does seem to be a hair better. It does sometimes take 2 trys to start however, especially when cold. Also, with these types of parts, is it ok to get the off brand( non gm)? Or am I being anal. Thanks much!
"Comes with tamper proof socket…. You take the doors off your high school bathroom stall"… how random is that?? But true. Lol 😂😂😂😂 Ay coño! Gotta love the SMA quotes!
NO disrespect to that lady but DAMN that power steering is about to explode. I could barely hear Eric O over all that whining noise from that pump. She might want to save up some Social Security checks and get that fixed. And that noise is without even turning the wheel!!! Lol
My Buick 3.8 the RPMs jump up when I'm driving down the highway then go back down doesn't happen that often so what could that be? I think it's the transmission if someone could give me an idea or two to go off of it would be greatly appreciated thanks
I had a driveability problem on my 2000 LeSabre 3800. Flat on acceleration, backfiring yet idled. Drove it until it was operating temp before it set a code P0101 MAF Sensor. The advice I removed was to unplug it and see if the problem resolves. I removed it and blew on it (not recommended) figuring what could it hurt; it's not working. Reset the light, cleared the codes until I can get a can of MAF sensor cleaner and a new Air filter. Once you remove the intake boot, take out the metal screen and spray it with Carb cleaner. Wipe all the passages and the air filter box before reassembly.
If it is like a Ford if someone put a K&N air filter in the oil for cleaning the filter can get on the MAf sensor and throw a code and you have to clean the sensor
Love your videos ! You are a Master Technician and a “NERD” 👍

How many lb do it got to be on idle mine say 0.01
What's wrong with this Buick sounds horrible Eric O sounds like the power steering pump screaming for mercy @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Oh man that Buick doesn't sound good at all wow that maf looks like it's completely dead @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Well done Eric

These Buicks are such good cars
This helped a lot. Thanks dude

The power steering racket bout drove me crazy.😂

question what socket size is it
Hey I watch most of my youtube videos on a xbox 360 MINE WONT LET YOU Comment or see links.
I do enjoy watching your videos. Thank you !!!!!
Needs a sound warnibg
That power steering pump is about as annoying to listen to as running your finger nails across a chalkboard. lol
These arm chair mechanics telling you to check the p/s fluid… Really??? Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge… Peace
I have same car and have 275K on it. Bought new. Always kept up with the required
maintenance. I would buy it again. Has the 3.8 bullet proof engine.

To heck with the MAF the car power steering is crap
Another good reason to live in the south we don't have to deal with all that rust on vehicles. Good info in all your videos, watching from ATL
How to program fob on 03 lesabre
please pour some old motor oil on any of the external moving parts.

Eric please tell me you checked the power steering fluid for that lady.. oh and did you try to clean the mass airflow sensor before replacing it?
Put some fluid in that power steering pump. Have you ever done a video of replacing the fuel tank on a Buick LeSabre?

What happens if you ride around with the MAF unplugged?
EXCELENTE INFORMACION……… SALUDOS QUERIDOS AMIGOS.

I just recently had that same code on my 2002 Buick Regal I also might have a exhaust leak

I’m having the same problem and the same code , p0102 praying that’s the fix for me too uggghhhhh
Nobody can hear you when the engine is running just so you know
That sounds like Scotty's engines on the Enterprise just before he says, "Cap'n, she canna take anymore!!!"
I'm surprised you didn't top up the power steering fluid for the lady.
One of the most annoying sounding cars I've ever heard lol.
It's not regular oil it's a cleaning fluid that cleans the filter
Sounds like one of those days where you just wanna go home so everything on top of the box just goes in the top drawer till the morning
Have you done a 2011 Buick Enclave Emission code po451 (1/2) Evaporative Emission Pressure Sensor Switch? If so link with how to fix it.
did she ever get the power steering fixed? it might just be low on fluid.
On the old 86 LeSabre, it was the "GM sanctioned screwdriver tap test!" AND IT WORKED! GREAT VIDEO!
NO disrespect to that lady but DAMN that power steering is about to explode. I could barely hear Eric O over all that whining noise from that pump. She might want to save up some Social Security checks and get that fixed. And that noise is without even turning the wheel!!! Lol
Eric O, whilst removing the cat that's making all that noise from the engine bay. "Well there's your problem, lady"
