Cork gasket? Sounds like something from the 30s.
Too many intermission
4.2 vortec motor is the best motor gm has ever created
Had the same TB and got 300,000 miles before I sold it and the kids still driving it. Never had a leak, slipping trans or anything else. My only problem was when I had it parked for a bit and some rats nested and ate through a couple of wires I had to fix.
I have never seen that color of transmission fluid before. At least the transmission was pan was clean of any debris.
I come for the "click" and i stay for the "doo do do doo doooooo."
That's a really ugly color
Why was the trans oil orange color
Pre-mature fluid loss, not a good thing.
Let it lubricant your elbow
Just unnecessary repair and cost for customer. That was not a leak. It was more likely little moist than a leak.
And you also try to mimic SMA, stop that!
I always get a feeling of dread as the bolts come out and the fluid starts dripping, then flowing, then pouring everywhere. Ugh, a nasty job.
Rubber gaskets work great. I've found it helps to re torque the pan bolts a couple days later to be safe.
Those seals are awful I just leave it in on my cars, never had a problem. Always afraid of damaging the bore.
Need to turn the radio off in the background while doing your videos
HOW many miles with ZERO rust on the frame???? We might get 80k before it's rotted in New England.
Another great video Ray! Btw did you think about checking the oil level as you were finishing up? This truck is high mileage and she might be sipping a few pints of 5W-30 between lube jobs.
Just a precaution from a loyal viewer in Ontario Canada
TroubleLazer 4.2
Never did check the level prior to pan removal. (you did waste the time to put the car down and up again to look at the color of the fluid) you did not attempt to check pan bolts for tension. That gasket was not leaking enough to even wet the bottom of the pan! Upon refill, no mention of hot and cold level differences, "At the bottom of the hot mark" is not correct, the fluid is cold at this point, the instructions are on the dipstick! (the first time it gets on the highway and fully warmed, it will likely expel fluid from the vent, and will come back, "leaking" worse than before you worked on it!) You did not even appear to put the car back up for post repair leak check. Did not confirm customers complaint, sold a completely un necessary operation, full fail.
" let's put one in on this end " that's what she said!!!
So… why was it Orange?
Anybody else notice the Dodge Rampage on the lift behind? I have an aluminum gemtop canopy for one. Lol.
Amen to that.
Dangit, Ray, you use that Snap On trim-rivet prybar for so many things I had go out and get one!
You know, Bill gates said if you remove your catalytic converters and replace it with pipe and then fill the pipe up with volcanic rock, it will clean the hydrocarbons from the exhaust.
Nobody like premature draining.
If I ever end up working in a repair Shop, I hope to God I'd get a guy like you to be my coworker and Best buddy cause you seem like good times man. Keep it up!
My local shop wants $400 to do what you just did. Is that a good deal?
Eric O brake clean homage…..love it!
That is Clean AF for a 200k truck.
Datza pizza chit, mang
They reason that you gotta take the screen out anyway for a service but it still wouldn't kill em to add a drain plug for a way to direct the fluid instead of gettin the shitt everywhere. And honda don't even wanna put a dipstick on they dam autotrans. Total corporate boolshit.
Serious brake clean ASMR action in this vid
The 1st time I swapped the fluid and filter on my 09 TB I couldn't believe I had to splash the fluid into a giant pan. I almost did a DIY drain plug myself for next time. Here in almost mid 22 I still have that vehicle and plan to keep it until it becomes unserviceable.
What shop lights are they?
253k on a Chevrolet?? I guess the one I bought wasn't quite so blessed.
the orange fluid and the amount of metal on the magnet concerns me for a recently rebuilt unit
Backyard knuckle buster here. What's the story on the orange fluid? I always thought it was red.
Dooo deee doooo
If you used a hose under bonnet of a UK car it would never start or run again.
Didn't know Chevy made a 4.2 six.
Does anyone tune or race them?
Amazing condition for a 2008 and quarter million miles!
Why did you put in fruit punch at the end? This is clearly more of a Sunny D trans.
The Bob Ross segment is spot on
Ok you did everything right except you need to Torque those bolts on the pan and it looked like you over Torque them to. And want to know how I know about Torque for the pan wheel years ago I changed the filter and oil on a Ford Torus and I titen the bolts just like you did and put it back down on ground and started the car up and started filling the transmission up got it up to temp and finally finished filling transmission took out for a drive and then I noticed a leak from the pan so I called my good friend and the 1st thing he asked me is did you Torque the bolts on the pan and I said no he told me to losin the bolts and Torque them Simular to head bolts so you get even Torque I did that and no more leaks.
I never knew these Trailblazers came with an inline six! I thought they were all Vs by then.
I suddenly have a lot more respect for this car! :3
Who put dex cool antifreeze in a transmission?
Had to swap fluid on my TB before, what a hateful experience without a drain plug
Weird colour for the trans fluid.
