I have a BMW X5 e53, if i had paid the original price just to have so many issues like windows falling off and broken 100$ door handles, rear suspension tearing apart, etc, i would have got to their headquarters to smash their face.
People talk about affording parts? I talk about cars with over 100 times lower reliability than a cheap late 90's Hyundai Accent which is non-serviced and has zero parts replaced since, and their parts sometimes cost more than the price you paid for the car.
That's why their cars are ending up in the junk yard so soon where they deserve to be.
A friend used to have a BMW. I told him it stands for "bring money with"!
Since we're doing a BMW, any chance anyone can tell me what can cause major vibration from the rear happening during heavy acceleration at 25mph (40kmh)?
From what I can tell, it's as if the rear right tire is shaking making notable vibrations that can both be heard and felt, and only happens during heavy acceleration. Then it stops and goes back to normal, doesn't matter which gear it's in, and nothing gets triggered in the computer (guessing it's a mechanical issue).
Been trying to get an answer for almost a year now, tho nobody seems to have experienced the same problem… Trying to avoid workshop having to examine the problem to save both time and money.
It's a 330Ci 2001 E46 Cupé
Did so many in the mid to late 2000’s, I still have a junk drawer full of oem blue slider clips
"Pain, suffering, torment and unrealistic expectations."
In other words: The average German life. ;-P
Blessing be with you and yours Ray, I learn a lot watching your videos and you are entertaining and far more patient then most people.
You'll get better at it ; D
LOL… balls deep in trouble…
Silicon spray the tracks too!
Get a Toyota Problem Solved. 😅
You can watch a YouTube video on how to do it this guy named Ray did the exact same model car a while ago
Screw gravity he says and fly off.
i bet the wrong part was ordered.. most people do that that try to work on there own cars
From a person who used to work for a bmw dealership, after market parts are junk, made to a lesser quality
I had a really nice 1986 Volkswagen Wolfsburg edition Jetta beautiful car all the bells and whistles five-speed transmission with overdrive cruise control all the bells and whistles, the electric fuel pump and filter housing went out and it's located underneath the car I had two options a cheap one that was only a hundred and something dollars or buy the factory original Bosch unit which was over $350 I went for the expensive one even though I didn't have the money it was worth it I can hear your frustration in this I've done those kind of window regulators before it's annoying
If you wanna know what cars don't age well, or have a lot of issues, look thru auto trader, market place things like that.. 325's are always in large numbers in these publications
For regulator on a BMW, always go genuine. These cars have good powertrains but everything else is kinda sub par v.s. Mercedes of the ssme era. Today, they both suck in terms of reliability, but thats not what people buy them for.
BMW = Broken Many Ways
25 years of owning old beat-up BMWs I learned that no matter how many different aftermarket window regulators I tried None of them would last a year. Now I just buy straight from BMW and never worry about it again for 20 years.
P.S. Make sure you seal that vapor barrier all the way around or else water will enter the cabin and go straight UNDER the carpet and won't be seen until everything rusts under the carpet and start causing electrical problems. Don't ask how I know.
Dude really pulled out a crystal ball😂😂😂
Buy cheap. Buy twice.
How about a second user part?
Doing these in a vw Jetta is tons of pain. Are there any limit adjustments on this unit? Top limit, bottom limit adjustments?
That's a cheap and flimsy regulator. Just tell him to tell the hookers not to lean on the window, or open it all the way.
You think the BMW Part is 500$ ?? No, its way cheaper than you think. Most People think that original BMW Parts are expensive as hell, but they dont look for the real price.
FCP Euro is 187,99$ for OEM BMW Part. 80$ crappy China stuff makes no sence.
Metal is too thin and forged in China ,that's where the problem lies….
Over 1000 comments so far. That's BMW for you. Let's see… Breaks Many Wrenches, Bleed My Wallet, and if you have a shop in San Francisco that would stand for "Bart Muni or Walk". The regulator looks like it was sourced from WORLDPAC. Some of the parts are good, other parts not so much. I feel your anguish doing the job twice.
I like when you struggle because it makes me feel like I'm not such a failure when I mess something up.
Edit, I should clarify it wasn't your fault that you struggled.
Should tell them no warranty on aftermarket parts only on factory parts .
Well thats a 27 year old car
Like the snapon pliers don't see in the discretion
Your crystal ball shoulda told you that you need to re-install that door panel with a zipper
you know the saying: 'No good deed goes unpunished" …
If you can’t afford to fix it, you can’t afford the car.
Spent all their money on the car, nothing left to maintain it properly
FCP EURO…
That's way easier than the new regulators with the x-cross cables that snap (I.E. Dodge and Chrysler products).
🤣 drill small holes each end of the tracks n stick 4 8mm bolts in them never fall off again 🤣👍🛠✌️
BMW parts are forged from unobtainium and spun from unicorn hair by Bavarian elves
$500 for a window regulator is extortion.
Reminds me a couple weeks back I did W219 front drivers regulator aftermarket one wouldn’t drop glass properly upon door opening ended getting genuine from Mercedes dealer and throwing away aftermarket one
Never try help customer to save money as it always comes back and bites you in the back side
All the best Ray best wishes from across the pond
ALL I KEEP HEARING IS BALLZ!!!
buy expensive car = expensive fix… why audi a' anything and bmw 3 series are always on the used lots, too much to fix get rid of…
Hi Ray like to wtch ur videoes. why does ur parts guy buy shittyy parts like the window regulator. i woulld hate to battle like that. there goess ur time . flatrate
GM OEM window regulators in my car do not look any better than these cheap ones. And the German made OEM door lock activator is a known and ongoing issue. OEM does not always mean quality.
You forgot to say have a nice day
Your space was all over the head today brother !!!!!
you need to rename the glass ball the crystal testicle
well, i would've left it fked up and told the customer he shoulda got manual windows
I just did this job. Get those clips in hood and make sure the glass is fully in the front track which is a POS and always falls out cause it doesn’t go in and the flap folds over. Listen the rear track, put the window up making sure the front is in the rubber track then tighten the bolt on the rear track. Should be good. Spent hours on this.
