Just wait for their car to start going into limp mode all the time, and throwing random knock codes. Only happens when vehicle has Max AC on, or if oil gets extremely low. But ever since I’ve resealed all the gaskets/rtv on my engine it only occurs when I have the AC set to max. Hopefully that’ll give some insight if ya ever run into that issue

As far as the odometer and your tool not reading the same; I think because the odometer will not display an incomplete mile whereas your tool probably rounds the tenths up or down. So I think it's just a matter of how the same information is interpreted by different tools.

As a parts person the lack of parts is bad. You need lifters for a gm good luck on that. For the longest time we couldn’t get certain filters or rotors.

I see signs of obsessive-compulsive disorder: having to turn the paper floor mat 180 degrees because the feet printed on it were facing the wrong way, even though leaving it the "wrong way around" would have made no difference at all. I have a little OCD myself and also sometimes drive myself nuts with it!

Every one who is considering buying a used car or truck should have a independent mechanic thoroughly inspect the vehicle including the mileage shown on the odometer compared to the mileage stored in the computer. There are many dealerships which will roll back the odometer in order to get top dollar for their vehicles.

My 2014 Jetta 1.8 se turbo doesn’t work properly and it’s been burning oil for years. it’s has 123k miles on it and it’s been getting everything under the sun going wrong with it.

Love your logic. Been trying to help my friend with his troubleshooting skills. He just can't do it. He stop and think than starts checking random things. I told him time and time again " If you start at A and going through the system you WILL find the problem.
Eg: he had a '14 Cruze with overheating problem and code p00b7(low flow)glow.
The waterpump had been replaced already, so my friend pulls the codes, replaces the thermostat and both temp sensors and wonders why it's not fixed.
I told him to drive it with a scanner connected so he can see the temp at both sensors. He erased the codes and let it idle for 4 to 5 minutes until the gauge read full hot and TURNED OFF A/C message came back. Of course the code came back. I told him to pull the radiator and reverse flush it and check flow.
What do you think? Flow code and not check the radiator fist?

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Fox Frenzy says:

Haven't finished the video yet, but as a long time VW owner, that seatbelt light is probably the passenger seat and caused by your scanner. I can't set a dried leaf on my passenger seat without setting off the seatbelt light. I have to use a cheater insert to help it relax.

Speaking of the PVC Assembly, what is your feelings towards Oil Catch Cans, especially in relationship to supercharged engines?

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars CaptainXanax says:

I'm sorry, but 1500 degree engine oil does NOT sound like a secondary issue. It's probably leaving behind aluminum puddles!

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JonnieLahti says:

Seatbelt warning on a VW product is a electrical malfunction in the seat belt buckle lock or a wiring issue around the buckle/seat. Seen that numerous of times.

Unless you got a very common car, I guess you are screwed or lucky. I needed a replacement cast inlet engine coolant pipe on a european car. Waited over 1.5 weeks to get it locally and I was "lucky" to find stock of it. No one else had stock. Online I found some stock in Turkey/Germany.

Additionaly I suspect more people repairing cars because they cannot get new cars or the 2nd hand market is too expensive. I have seen a lot of newer 2nd hand cars with prices above RRP. Even at the wreckers, I cannot find what I need often. Tough times.

I’m a VW tech and can tell you those manifolds get replaced more than you can guess … The flaps go bad. I’d bet money it needs a manifold and less of a carbon issue. The other codes are usually seen with lack of oil… I’d start with checking the oil level ..and the manifold..

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ashley M says:

Not sure about modern VW clusters, but the old ones did something interesting. They only stored the mileage in KM's and then converted it to miles if the cluster was set to imperial. They also only recorded the mileage to the EEPROM every 10KM. So if you unhook the battery, you lose potentially up to 9KM (6 miles) from the odometer reading.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars sjhill 09 says:

I'm actually looking at replacing my camshaft sensor and did find a way to do it without removing the manifold on my 2015 2.0 Jetta. A t30 bit, tapped inside a box wrench and lots of tiny turns. It is probably a better idea to remove and inspect the injection than just replace the sensor but, I can do the sensor at home. If that doesn't solve the random every once in a while dies when idling at a red light then I'll take it into the mechanic. Mine isn't running rough just sometimes struggles to idle happens maybe a couple times a month if that.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars deaks25 says:

I have to admit, I always thought the "Approximately" comment when reading the mileage was a joke for laughs, and to trigger as many Re's as possible. I never considered that there might be a discrepancy between what the odometer and the ECM pid for mileage. I've learnt something new.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars G. Reaper says:

I thought the "approximately so many miles" was just trolling for the most part… LMAO. I was thinking though that the ECM might be tracking the 10ths of miles, like the old school odometers did, and since the dash doesn't show the 10ths, then it is approximate.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Beverly Roemer says:

I wonder what my truck would say as for as the mileage goes since I have never recalibrated the speedometer for bigger tires 🛞

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bismarck San Diego says:

I know with the old cable driven speedo's you could run the car in reverse and it would decrease mileage. Is it the same with newer cars?

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Wright says:

Also if they install a different tire size it will affect the odo accuracy.

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Albert Sampson says:

Wanted to share some insight for said 14 not so bug VW. I got a rough idle and low idle, check engine light and codes were camshaft sensor, oil pressure and vacuum leak essentially. According to the O'Reilly code reader. I did some research and am in no way mechanic, but have some knowledge. My symptoms were rough idle and low idle after filling gas at any level. The manual shift vehicles suffer worse than the automatic vehicles and turbos of the 1.8. In my research, a guy had a video of common problems with VW and check engine lights. One mentioned was the purge valve. A $20 part, 5 minute replace and all lights and codes gone. I also have better idle and fuel economy. What causes this is those little extra squeezes on the gas handles to get a couple more cents in. Carbon buildup in the valve. This turns out to be something that VW knew full well was happening around, get this, 90k miles and produces fault codes that don't relate to the actual issue. It causes other sensors to go crazy. I wanted to share this with you as I learned first hand that I would have been chasing fuel issues and sensors that didn't relate to what caused this issue. My jaw dropped as you kept explaining symptoms over and over except for the over pressure but God knows how long the customer ran it with that issue as well. Hope this helps and great videos.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Justin Meeks says:

CPRA CPKA 1.8T's burn lots of oil when they age due to rings. The first step with the cam sensor fault is checking engine oil level, those sensors nearly never fail on that engine.

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kyle S says:

Literally just got my Jetta back today. Same situation, waiting for parts

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars CG C says:

Anyone research how they made fuel from sorghum at the turn of the century? The gov couldn't have that. Did you know that them making their own fuel is what sparked prohibition? You can find how to make it now through a little research. I'm not saying it'll solve everything, just saying it's an option for some.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars eric olsen says:

All newer vehicles with Direct Fuel injectors will eventually grime up the valves and must be cleaned off. You should do a video on oil catch cans and STP valve cleaners!!! New engines will not last long with the new Direct fuel injectors that are standard in most newer vehicles.

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jack Fisher says:

Seat Belt light is flickering, senor in seat may be VERY sensitive and registering on weight of computer.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Christopher Sanders says:

Been a Audi tech for years, practically the same motor as a 2.0t. The camshaft and oil pressure fault codes a lot of time come from lack of engine oil in my experience. Check the flapper arm at the end/side of the manifold to make sure it hasn’t popped out of the manifold. It was fairly common failure point for some of the early cars. You have to replace the manifold if so.

    Diesel Peeps

Do you know what DEF fluid is? It's Diesel Exhaust Fluid. Every Diesel truck that has been made since 2010 is required to use it. It's a product made of 67% Urea fertilizer and 33% distilled water. Every diesel truck you see driving down the road today has to have this product to drive. The engines won't start without it. There are regulators inside the engine that mix DEF with the Diesel to reduce Diesel emissions. That's the purpose of DEF.

Right now, Russia is the largest exporter of Urea by a wide margin. Qatar is second. Egypt and China are Tied for 3rd. Both Russia and China have decided to no longer export Urea. On top of that, India is the largest manufacturer of Urea in the world even though they consume most of what they make. What little they would export……….they no longer do. They are now stopping the exportation of any and all Urea minus a deal they just cut with Sri Lanka.

What does this mean for you and me? Well, first, the United States imports most of it's Urea fertilizer. We are the third largest importer in the entire world. We depend on other countries to eat, drive and ship our products.

Secondly… Flying J is the largest Service provider for Truckers around the Unites States. I'm sure you've seen their massive gas stations when traveling around the country. Flying J gets 70% of their DEF fluid from shipments via Union Pacific railroad. UP has single user access to the Fertilizer plants that Urea/DEF fluid comes from. No other rail provider has access to these distribution points. This means Flying J can't just go around Union Pacific. Union Pacific is in charge….for a reason I'm gonna mention in a few paragraphs.

Flying J provides 30% of all DEF consumed in the United States. UP has told Flying J to reduce their shipments by a whopping 50%. And if they do not comply then they will be completely embargoed. That would in effect bankrupt FJ. This means that 15% of all DEF consumed by truckers in the US is no longer available at the largest travel service center for the entire trucking industry.

Rome rotted from the inside out. It was easily invaded because it was occupied with internal problems. It appears we have discovered the Trigger. DEF fluid. If this holds up, DEF shortages will be the catalyst that causes food shortages in the coming months. Not only is there a shortage of fertilizer to grow crops in drought-stricken states (See Kansas' drop in wheat production for 2022)….but….now it looks like, unless the Federal Government intervenes via the Defense Production Act, …which I am no longer confident they will….there is gonna be an absolute massive shortage of trucking in the coming months.

There simply isn't going to be DEF fluid sufficient to keep the engines running and moving. Home Depot is now limiting the amount of DEF you can buy in their stores.

I would think long and hard about the decisions you are making right now. Where you live. What you spend money on. How you prepare. This is so real that the CEO of Flying J, Shameek Konar was summoned to a Surface Transportation Board hearing to give them all this info.

From what I'm reading….Blackrock is the majority shareholder of Union Pacific railroad. How is that important? Americas biggest fertilizer producer is CF Industries. Their largest shareholder is Blackrock. Blackrock controls the fertilizer industry in the U.S.. Union Pacific has exclusive rights to distribution points of fertilizer. Urea is fertilizer. Flying J needs Urea/DEF. Blackrock is controlling everything.

The Chairman of the BlackRock Investment Institute is Tom Donilon, President Obama’s former National Security Advisor. Tom Donilon’s brother, Mike Donilon is a Senior Advisor to Joe Biden. Tom Donilon’s wife, Catherine Russell, is the White House Personnel Director. Tom Donilon’s daughter, Sarah Donilon, who graduated college in 2019, now works on the White House National Security Council.

It appears Blackrock is spearheading the dismantling of the US system on behalf of the Globalists. And the first domino they are pushing over is the energy sector. They are using DEF to get the party started.
