There’s two things in a shop that a technician calls the Widowmaker one is the coil compressor for front and struts two is a hydraulic press knows it makes your day that much safer but if you have to use them make sure you know what you’re doing because I’ve seen a lot of technicians doing some stupid things. Ok folks for those with ABS systems and with pressed in bearings. MAKE SURE YOU GOT IT RIGHT BEFORE PRESSING THE BEARING IN! or you will be doing this again! What I mean by that make sure the magnet ring is facing the ABS sensor or CV axle and not towards the hub. You can't the new save the bearing 99% of the time. I just did a Honda that some other shop or owner pressed it in backwards and it disabled the ABS and traction control. They mangled the hell out of the hub and knuckle and backing plate too. Ford Focus and many other makes are going with this setup too. Here is a tip if you get a erratic code on a wheel inspect the magnet ring. Most of the time the rust gets under the magnet ring and breaks off chunks of it. The scan tool will show erratic signal speed too. Most cases you can see in if you crawl under the car to inspect it without jacking it up. The fix will always be replace the wheel bearing in these cases.
This will only work if you recite the holy phrase "Welcome to the Hydraulic Press Channel!" in a heavy Finnish accent.

You need to be more careful or you're going to get hurt. If something breaks, metal pieces can fly out with the force of a gun. You can get seriously hurt, or even killed. Move the food pedal out as far as you can get it and put a barrier between you and the press. Also, put the new parts in the freezer for a little while before you install them.
Irregardless, it does fit good.
Incredible that they use ball bearings for front wheel bearings…..shades of 1953. My Ford Aspire ( yeah, it was a really cheap car that wasn't really cheap, I put 450,000 miles on it ) had inward facing tapered roller bearings with a precisely machined spacer between them. The torque on the axle nut had to be pretty precise too.
I was quoted $375 for press work from a shop here in SoCal to press in two rear bearings for my '68 Cougar…and that was me bringing in the axle shafts out of the car with my own bearings. I thought, screw that and went to Harbor Freight, bought my OWN press, did it myself and saved $150!

Smash the inner race out then run fat welds on the outer race, when the weld cools down you can tap it out with hammer and screwdriver!
That press sucks.
You need a machine shop to make you some fixtures for pressing berrings out and holding parts or assembly in perfect 90 dgr angles but the press your using is a pile of junk. Iv cut keyways with a hydrlic press we built at the shop.
It worked a hell of a lot better then this pile of junk and didn't make this much noise. It didn't use compressed air it used hydrlic rams.
Your going to have a big chunk of metal fly out and hit you with that thing.
I always hated pressing bearings, mostly because the shops I worked at never had enough material to shim. Then the hub grapplers came out.
Now, THAT is an interference fit!

I just did the exact same thing on my daughters 2003 Subaru Outback front wheel bearings. 2 new bearings, and inner and outer seals as well. Used the 50 ton hydraulic press at my work on my day off. Quiet as a church mouse now.
Well I won't be doing that at home lol. There is always a way.

I purchased a cheap $120 front wheel bearing remover/installer kit from harbor freight just for this purpose. The adapters works great on shop presses. Never liked replacing bearing on the vehicle so I always take the whole knuckle off.
Wasn't there supposed to be a seal between the hub and housing?

If you would like to have some fun get a crankshaft out of a 1978 Kawasaki KZ1000 and press the crank pins out. Its a roller bearing crank.

If you all do this on a regular basis, you may try to do a soak in nitrogen to get the part to shrink so the fit is easier (slips right in) and when it warms up the part is almost like it is welded to the outside part.

I really don’t like the air powered presses, I prefer a standard press so I can really feel what the press is doing as it’s working, makes it a lot easier to know if something is going wrong before anything breaks
If your company wants to sell wheel bearing "jobs", they should have the tools necessary for you to do so; SAFELY!

Is there a reason not to heat up the hub carrier to insert the bearing? It would make it a LOT simpler…

I prefer the Hub Tamer or the Hub Grappler versus taking the whole spindle off you would have been done already

I had one on a Mazda mini van once that broke the spindle when I was trying to press the bering out. It's the only one I never got out.
move the knife block round so you not pressing on the bolts, you will bend them
You were doing it wrong. According to the diagram decal on the press, you're supposed to place the palm of your hand between the ram and the part. 😜
