I once had a glove get sucked into a turbo. Had the wrist of it around it and clamped on,so I wouldn't lose the clamp. Well that saved the turbo. It didn't make it to the blades. The turbo had a long inlet side which is the only reason it was okay.

Being that the rag is in the outlet side of the turbo, I don’t think there is any sort of chance that the rag will be sucked into the turbo. He just forgot to tighten the hose clamp. Hopefully the turbo didn’t overspeed and self destruct when the hose blew off.

I had a 335 Cummins blow out the turbo hose once when I was pulling a grade. Boom! Roar! Lotsa smoke, no power.
