Air gun takes lube oil on line

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TheOnespeedbiker says:

They actually have inline lubrication attachment for pneumatic tools. They are usually some clear plastic gismo that goes between the tool and connector; I inherited an air ratchet with one and immediately removed it. As mentioned a couple of drops of oil down the connector works great; 3 in one makes a special pneumatic tool oil the contains PTE, which works maybe a little better than hydrolic (20wt non detergent) oil. I rebuilt one I had using Phil's Tenacious oil (bicycle product) which is an adhesive oil that seems to make bearings (cartridge and otherwise) last forever; there are also two tiny gears with 11 mico bearings @ that got the Phil's treatment. It seems the cordless technology has replaced pneumatic tools, but since I'm just a backyard mechanic, I use what I have that still works.

    Nifty little grease gun…

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Hudick says:

NOOO!! Air-powered tools want a tiny amount of pneumatic oil, NOT GREASE!! In fact, it's usually supplied directly through the air lines from the compressor!

The rule with grease is that "If some is good, more is better and too much is just right !!"

A mechanic without tools is just a bum.. Keep your tools maintained and they won't fail you.. Make money;)

One time I even managed to sling red ink from an ink pen on my living room wall. I could see that the pen still had ink, but it wouldn't write. So I tied a three foot string to the pen and spun it real fast to force the ink to the tip – and right out the writing end it came. <end of tongue in cheek>

Please keep creating your good videos – I really enjoy them. I also am encouraged by your tenacity and patience having to dig through all the other things and pipes and hoses and wiring just to get to what needs fixing.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jorge fernandez says:

Put the air tool oil or 3in 1 oil in the air port of the tool. Then hook up the air and let the air push the oil around the insides. I used to do this once a month or more depending on how much I used it. I had the same tool for years and it never gave up on me. Just aim the exhaust ports away from you the first time after you oil it.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Cluelessbeekeeping says:

You know you can put a couple few drops directly where the air goes in, right? That's an excellent habit to get into, before you use a tool…couple drops of oil.

Been a shade tree mechanic since around '81. Finally in the past 2 months I got cordless tools… dewalt dcf899 impact wrench replacing my air impact, and the ryobi extended reach 1/4" and 3/8" ratchets ($200) when I can use it instead of manual ratchet. Will never get the use out of a snap-on to justify it at home… but I been seeing you get a lot of use out of your cordless ratchet. Just moving a 24 thread pitch bolt 1" is 24 complete turns, or 96 ratchets if you can only get 1/4 turn on a manual ratchet. spend so much time ratcheting bolts and nuts out

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Moe Bartlet says:

Never lubricate your air tools. I’ve been a master tech for 40 years. Never put air tool oil in my guns and they last for well over 20 years. All the guys I work with lube their shit and have to replace it every 5 years. Just remember WHO tells you to lube your tools, the tool makers.
