Is the foam insulation around the steering shaft on the floor from the space shuttle external tank? Being as your in Florida and all, seems as unruly
My back aches just watching you contorting yourself under the dash. Been there, done that!
Tried to change the same engine mount. Couldn't even get it come loose with the torch.
I'm talking to myself, love your videos, keep 'em coming.
Maybe the lady wanted you to check out her subframe…. Adjust her points….. grind her rotor… "if you know what I mean"
Clear step by step procedure great!
Hey Ray what are the hand wrenches you are using, they look extremely helpful in tight area's
lol yea we do have a different meaning for that word 🙂 along with 100 others
I would suggest a round or two of styrofoam wrapped around lifting post on Car Lift to Eliminate Scratching up Doors on Vehicles…
Congrats to and Garrett. You guys did great.
Always another race..
I guess if your coffee maker spills over you’d call it a “ Juan Valdez”?
I think you get fun times on the brake clean.
That radio was plyn the Rubberman…seemed a bit outta place in your shop…like fix a flat… That cavitation noise sounded scary, like trash in a water pump on a washing machine.
A torque wrench is not always possible. The old school gear heads hardly ever used them
Ray, I don't mean to tell you your job or be nasty in any way whatsoever, but after you rip the under side of your forearm open, you will never install cotter pins like that again. I always shorten the legs and pull the pin tightly into the nut and neatly wrap the legs tightly around the nut. Those loose ends are extremely dangerous and can cut you open like a knife. Plus they are much neater when done like that. That's again for another great video. I always hit the like button and I am also subscribed. Cheers from Australia. Robert.
Great stuff –I'm 65 and work on cars for friends and family I enjoy watching and learning how to repair cars….To coin a phrase–It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks but i am still learning from your video's Thanks and God Bless!
My torque spec has always been to use the German torque of "gutentight" and know that stuff ain't moving or leaking.
Who is dj'ing??? Is it 70s day???
Ive been watchn a great many of your videos now, and i must say, youre a great mechanic! Would i want you to do a repair on one of my vehicles? Mmm… maybe, just kidding.
you have a funny and kind a dry humor way to do things and yuor vids are intresting and educational. like wery much .creetings from wintery Finland
I get the ,”what would you charge” , question all the time when I’m at customer locations. And like you I don’t steal work from my employer. We have to sign contracts agreeing to not do side jobs. Sometimes to a fault, I’m not aloud to do work on the side that the company doesn’t even do!
In the past I sold a car because it needed a rack and I hadn’t the ambition to do that. Mind you I don’t have a lift or years and years of experience
Ray, I love how the TW Trolls have never learned to calibrate their hand to the length of the handle on the wrench or ratchet! This was one of the first things I was taught how to do and as you know it IS extremely easy to get within the safe range of torque once you develop the feel.
10 ft lb, standard handle 3/8 and two finger pull
20 ft lb, standard handle 3/8 and four fingers
30 ft lb, long handle 3/8 and four fingers
50 ft lb, 1/2 standard and four fingers
75 ft lb, 1/2 standard and a hard grunt
100 ft lb, 1/2 long handle
Etc, etc, etc
Love your videos, keep up the entertainment!
dont know about shmoo but we have a different meaning for diaper in the UK over here its a piece of laced cloth we put over the backs of furniture to protect the back of the furniture from dirty necks or greasy hair.
I only use a torque wrench on important stuff
That is why mechanics have calibrated wrists! Proper torque is gutentight
Amy Lee <3
getting into those awkward positions, caused me back pains etc, and i decided to retire , lol! Goodluck in the field Ray, and i will be enjoying your true to life videos, showing what you actually have to do, body positioning, interuptions, etc…lol! Love it all! been there , done that!
Your shop has a great playlist. 😛
Doo da doo doo click🐴
Flock of Seagulls
I was gonna say BS to the 11, there is no such. Maybe somewhere but I've never seen one.
All of your video s are very good
Forget the trolls you do you they can go !@#$ a tailpipe
South main auto repair is the only one on here that's knows what he's doing the rest of you auto repair shops are a joke
wow,,, what did that cost >>
👍👍👍👍👍😸🤗🐺
My soul is already fucked so if I have to reuse cotter pins its whatever
Damn your cotter pin skills could use some work lol
people need to understand german torquing = goodentight
🖒🤠
The way you deployed the reverse tomahawk on that thing and maneuvered that shaft through the orifices on that chassis brought back fond memories, had to wake up mama and make her morning..Of course that shaft on shaft move ruined the mood, never been down with sword fighting…
Hi Ray, you are an Excellent Mechanic, you should one day Have your Own auto Repair Shop, called Rainman Rays Auto Repair Service 🙂
Harbor freight tools always engage safety squint
Not a torque wrench troll, but you could use an open end torque wrench. They make kits with interchangeable heads for different size fasteners. Or a crow foot. You just have to use the proper formula to calculate the proper setting depending on the angle of the handle from the centerline of the crow foot. We do both all the time in military aircraft maintenance.
Ah young grasshopper, when you can snatch the flashlight in mid-air it will be time for you to leave the matrix.
Makes me miss my days as a service advisor. I loved being in the shop.
I didn't love turning wrenches.. I know how but have a back problem. But watching 8 cars getting torn apart and nerding out on the parts, hours, and procedures was super cool.
Well, it was a bit of a confusion to call a Ford Fusion a Focus. Meeh, does not have enough umph to it. Thanks for nice videos. Best Regards
Torque? Depends on the bolt and what it is holding. Torque to yield–definitely needs the torque wrench and many need to do the angle or measure the actual stretch. Most isn't that critical–huge tolerances that yu get to know the feel after doing it thousands of times. When I worked on the assembly line, we set our impacts and got to it. Toques were checked with an electronic torque wrench periodically to make sure the air wrench setting had not drifted.
