How did I know brake cleaner would be involved???? Singlehandedly keeping the brake cleaner industry in the black. The environment thanks you. Very little.

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Hill says:

I mainly watch don't make many comments. Don't you own one of those rolling carts to lay out your nuts and bolts on as you take them off. Looks like you're throwing them on the floor.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rob Rommens says:

With 18mm bolts the bolt is 18mm thick, not the bolt head. For those you would need a 27mm wrench or socket. When the bolt head is 18mm (unlikely, they normally are 19mm) the bolt is 12mm. This, of course, is in the metric system.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Old Man says:

Well, me be old school and less safety conscious I guess. I prefer lacquer thinner or gasoline for cleaning such things.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars airplane george says:

the oil cap lettering is correct, you are supposed to read it from over the left fender.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Doyle Holloway says:

that was oil right and no leaky leaky

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TheOnespeedbiker says:

The parts cleaning solution is usually non-flammable; not sure it remained that way after all that brake cleaner. Further it was nice to see the starter spacer had it's own bolts. On my 89 Jeep Wrangler it was held in with the starter mounting bolts and trying to line it up while holding the starter in position was always an exercise in frustration and muscle fatigue.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Josh Prater says:

THIS IS THE ONE I NEEDED!!

I wonder how many of your viewers actually know what the "Exxon Valdez" was.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Fallis says:

In regards to your rubber plugs. They are hollow on the bottom. Take a long extension, whatever will fit in the hole and push them in until they seat. And I caught the vertical crossmember bolts also.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rob says:

Likes how he washes the oil pan clean good work

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars N979Q says:

Always informative videos. I am sure you have heard this, but people will pay a premium for quality work. And word of mouth is very effective and growing a customer base. What I’m saying is, you need to take the plunge and start your own business. I had a mechanic that worked at a local garage and like you was very honest and great at his job. That is not always the case. Anyway, he now has a thriving company in the same town and business is very very good. Just think about it. You will kill it and we all know money does not make happiness, but it sure helps.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Edward Smith says:

How about a "clunk-bang" sound effect for poppin ze hood?

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Skipperau says:

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rick Lesinszki says:

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars anthony marasco says:

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jaxson Hugh says:

    Did you disconnect the battery??

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Tutty says:

Great job, Ray. Lovely to see a professional do a job to the highest standard. That is so very hard to find. I only wish you were close enough for me to have you doing through my old Volvo. It needs some work after 32 years and nearly 400,000 miles.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Weston Howe says:

I see I am not the only one with oil cap orientation OCD

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bamps-2022 says:

    Well done!!

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Your Pocket Mechanic says:

Back in the day (I am aging myself) when we had to remove the engine oil pan, especially a Chevy, the new oil pan gasket set used to come with a new drain plug gasket. We used to call that a wedding ring. It meant you were now married to that car. Those old multi piece cork gaskets with rubber end pieces were nearly impossible to seal for any length of time. After enough come backs you felt married to the car

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Matt Markham says:

Very good video. I may be doing this in a few weeks as my friend's 4.3 has a small oil leak. Great camera work and the talking is not gratuitous rambling but necessary and clear. Can someone tell me if the rear main seal is made of teflon or rubber? Thanks for this video.

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vic says:

it is amazing how engine oil is always attracted to you..

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ron Wilken says:

Poor Ray, someone substituted the regular "710" cap for a generic lube oil cap. What's a man to do? Seen on April 1st 2022 so what can he expect?

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Raul L Calzadilla says:

"Flat aluminum gasket residue removal tool", "super scraper"? Where can I get one? It looks like a simple piece of flat aluminum with a clean-cut edge.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Donald Anderson says:

Lol I did catch the 2 bolts that were still in the cross member when you were trying to pry it off. Why didn't you show that? Lol. I only know because of my own truck.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jay Kellett says:

When working under vehicles….ALWAYS wear safety glasses. SH1T in your eye can ruin your whole day! (I found out the hard way.) Like seat belt….takes 5 seconds and is the cheapest insurance you will ever buy.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars B A says:

A shop told me that I blew a seal.

I told them to leave my love life out of it and fix the damn car.

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nigel Barton says:

Naughty Ray, you normally ‘fess up to your little errors but here we have pry bar on the cross member, then bigger pry bar- then cut to where you had removed the 2 vertical, bolts you’d missed and announced “got it…” 😀
