Same exact thing happened to my Acadia. Dealership replaced my engine and when i got it back the charging system was all screwed up. I took it back twice and still was not properly fixed. I ordered a new alternator and low and behold when removing the old alternator the nut was hand tight on the main power wire. The alternator I took out looked just like that one all burned and melted around the stud and so was the main wire.

Before any vehicle leaves research and design the engineers should have to take various parts off to see how hard they are to replace after engine is installed in car.
Ford pick-ups have to remove body from chassis on newer ones to get to different parts. That's insane.

That 3.6 is used in the saturn outlook g m c acadia buick enclave and chevy traverse

Ray it is not built out of GM parts, it is a GM product, it dates back to when GM owned a large percentage of Suzuki.
Auto Design Engineers should be made to replace every part under the hood themselves on a mock-up before a design goes into production.

You’re suppose to put a new battery in when you install a new alternator.
Back in the eighties I was working at an Oldsmobile/Gmc dealer when the State of Calif. held a class at our shop about safety & chemical use. Brake-Kleen is/was a Cancer causing substance as well as having an effect on brain fuction and lung condition. Bad thing was before that we never concerned ourselves with taking precustions with it. It must be used with proper ventilation or lund damage will occur.
Everyone should watch your videos because of your video quality and explanation detail. I don’t know where you live and work or the “Dealerships “ that are around you. I’m a retired Dealership fixed operations director and never allowed poor workmanship or taking advantage of customers. Your dealership reference inferring poor workmanship annoyed me.
put some grease (battery terminal grease) over the main alternator lead to stop corrosion

Suzuki using GM 3.6v6 engines and parts for their Xl7 line was partly the reason why Suzuki left the US market. I still own 2 Suzikis myself a 1992 Samurai since 94 (28 years) and its been a very reliable car. I wish they still sold Suzuki in the USA. You may have saved the alternator, only to have the timing chains in the 3.6V6 go soon after.

I knew this Suzuki was made from GM parts but was quite surprised to learn it had a Cadillac engine. This is what I love about your channel over the many similar out there. You don't just cater to the mechanics in your audience, but also to the auto enthusiast with an interest in how things work. I have learned so much watching your videos!

All you have to do is do one higher level mechanic project, and you will understand immediately why it cost a little bit to take your car to them. Some of those projects are quite involved, even after a pretty thorough diagnostic procedure. Also kudos for the filming, I tried doing it once and I stopped within maybe 10 minutes. Grease, positional changes, job taking longer/frustrating, etc. This guy clearly has it down.
The same as Ford makes most of Mazda’s stuff!
You would not be using break clean like that if you had to pay for it
I always tell people to hook up the positive before putting the negative cable on. That way you can't accidentally hit your wrench on anything grounded and crow bar your battery.
Love your videos. I know that you probably can't say but I'd like to know the name & location of your shop. My daughter, (single mother) lives in FL and it would be nice to have a honest, reputable place to get her car serviced without having to go back to the dealership.
