While setting at a gas pump you have time and a free place to get rid of your TRASH I don't see how people can drive with trash under their feet.
Once had a Prius with an open jar of vaseline on the dash shelf and a bunch of wadded up tissues all over – drove that one sitting on the edge of the seat and by just pinching the wheel. That was gross. These people seem to have kids – that is deplorable.

there was a point I helped a woman with a flat tire. it was a relatively new BMW. went was stuck down, no plastic or anything covering it, no interior panels on the doors. there was mold on absolutely everything, trash everywhere. just opening the door and the smell had attached to us. tires were all showing belts, and the spare was in pieces. think wouldn't start after finally getting some air to hold in the tire. coolant overflow tank was busted, the wiper fluid tank was busted, qnd hardly any oil. think was driving down one of the busiest streets in the county. thing that threw me the most over was the car seat in the back.
I have 2 cars. One is my shitbox works vehicle which has my tools in it etc, in which the wife would never be seen dead. As it is only for work and is my daily driver I don't keep it sparkly clean. The family car which carries her majesty (the wife) the kids and the grand kids is a very nice Hyundai Tucson. 13 years old old but in fantastic condition. Sadly to maintain this level of cleanliness takes a fair bit of time. When the annual inspection is due the family car passes on its appearance, my shitbox gets a thorough examination but because it is mechanically perfect (just not pretty) it always passes first time. Basically it's horses for courses. your customers car is clearly the family school bus

My brother-in-law is a mechanic he stuck his hand down between the back rest and seat cushion and was impaled by a fork with dried up spaghetti on it now that's nasty they removed it it the hospital.
A person who allows a vehicle interior to be kept in that state should be arrested and fumigated! Amazingly, from the outside it looked pretty well looked after.

i know that some people can't afford fancy vehicles but at the very least they shouldn't be such pigs this just shows that the customer doesn't even care who sees how much of a slob they are they should clean it up at least before they turn it in for repair sorry that you have to go through this and i didn't know you were a mechanic and philosopher LOL

On the other hand there should be a code of conduct for garages out there.
If a customer turns up with a refuse tip inside of the vehicle. The mechanic should have every right to refuse to work on said vehicle. Plus there should be no come back on the mechanic for doing this.
How anyone in their right mind can have a vehicle in this state is beyond me!!!!!!!!!!!.

I hate garbage cars because of the risk of not getting paid. Everything about the car was broken and it came in running on fumes! You are paying (hopefully) shop rate and you don't put a couple gallons in the tank? When a customer claims new parts and they turn out to be junk yard parts it's a red flag. I would be curious if the thing has valid insurance.
