Murano is an island in Italy
Why don't you just plug it externally?
I think it means dumb-ash… Like Moron-o, least most of the people driving them do so like the hug tightly to the name.
Like your content. To fix your wobbly bits from being so wobbly, put an o-ring over the joint.
Another great video from the Rainman.
Only Ray have so much love for anything he do.
And we all appreciate you so much for all the good videos you do for us. Thank you so much Ray!

Morano is Italian for Moron.
Murano is named after the islands of Murano in Italy known for their art glass.
What a video! Something even dies at the end, just like in the movies!
You have to drive it for the tires pressures to register
Trivia Question. What is the Michelin man's name?
Murano is an island in Greece famous for glass vases etc. Aussie Graham
I think I see what is going on. The other place messed up the first repair, so the owner brought the vehicle to you for the second repair. It may or may not be that the repair itself was adequate, but they made a mistake mounting the tire, or there is a leaking valve, or there is another puncture. Regardless, they must make it right. They can't say "It's not our problem." This is a good demonstration of the importance of doing a thorough job. "Bring-backs" are expensive, time-consuming and look really bad from the customer perspective. Just take the time to do it right in the first place. Slow and steady wins the race.
Not much has changed since I was a teen working in Angelo's Sunoco station.(1956-58) We patched them from the inside but of course the current style patch hadn't been invented yet. And our tire machine was powered by the armstrong method. Oh and prepping the inside of the tire was done with a thing which looked like one side of a miniature cheese grater with a handle. 🙂
No brake cleaner?
It's Japanese for "soccer mom shuttle"
MORONo
Only your impact gun cam is cool bro!!!
Murano is a series of island connected bridges in Italy
Murano with a crap tranny. That’s how the die.
Did we miss the fact the car was towed in for a flat tire? What's up with that?
Murano is a place … in the island group of Venice, Italy ………………..per Wikipedia.
Japanese Chrysler.
Quit being so cheep and take your lovely to the island of Murano, Italy, she will love it. You might too.
I'm shocked you didn't upsell 4 new tires. That's what they do around here. Damn you and your ethics. (Sarcasm intended.)
Seriously though, great short video on repairing an injury. Maybe some other short videos on tire basics for the masses?
You light it on fire and put fresh glue on then u patch it the heat helps.
I'd say Ray "nailed" this job.
11,000 of us so far.
As an actual expert in tires, been working the business a while, in a job that's only dedicated to tires, that was beautiful tire patch. Interesting to see how our shops do it different. I have always loved your videos and excited to see this one where I know every step and then some. Love the info you give and glad you guys use a plug too! I see to many shops not use them and have seen tires fail because of it! Great job man!
Also I like the analogy use of the paper clip! Ima start using that!
No brake cleaner? Say it ain't so!!😃
Did ya plug it or patch it or doodleedoodleedo
In 1985 I patched customer's side wall puncher to get them home. 150 miles away I didn't charge them which was a college student. Have them sign a release statement.
They came in about two weeks later and said they made it and dad bought a new tire for them. They were very grateful for the emergency repair.
Now with the recent economy, To get Financial FREEDOM you have to be making money while you're asleep.
Obviously wasn't the first time he put lubed rubber in a tiny …
A Moroano is anyone who buys a Nissan
The affected tire is lit up and doesn’t show psi until you driven the car for 1-5 minutes. It’s a stupid Nissan thing that all their new cars do.
I dislike this video due to the lack of doo-de-doos.
🤣🤣
In many shops, if the nail is outside the last groove, the tire is condemned
I remember patching my own bicycle tires when I was a kid, similar process! Except I didn't have a tire rim removal machine, just used some screwdrivers.
Mirano /Town in Italy
I've done a lot of tires and I really hate ultra low profile tires. Last week it took three of us to get one on.
Morano, I believe it's Italian for Idiot!
Maybe I'm too old for these new fangled entertainment industry techniques, but I prefer a good old impact gun cam to this fancy smancy JJ Abrams-esque torque wrench cam. But I'm just here for the story anyway.
You mentioned "Pathfinder". Funny little story behind the one my mother owned. Bought in 1985 the Pathfinder was used to launch a small 14 foot sailboat, tow a trailer, do dump runs, go on an epic drive to NYC… Then in 1996 be "mine-ish" for a year. Then sit out in the yard until 2001 where I found some lovely black ice and rear ended a Toyota Avalon in my 1993 Toyota Corolla.
Corolla was totaled. Went to driving the old Pathfinder. Bought a 2002 Toyota Prius. Both EPIC mistakes. So for 8 months I was driving this SUV that I would end up calling two names. Sweatfinder. And Rustfinder. At some point the belt to the AC compressor exited the vehicle. So no AC.
The brake master cylinder eventually burst. Managed to stop the thing in a bush that also had a bunch of angry bees. A large part of the right rear passenger seat underbody had this great view of the asphalt. After the brakes were fixed just a month before getting my new Prius…
Two weeks before the delivery of my new Prius. I hit a minor pothole. The ENTIRE driver seat DROPPED several inches resting on the floor of the cabin. This was at highway speeds. Mounts had rusted through,
Told my folks to sell the damn thing for scrap. My mother sold it to a teacher she knew from work for more than what it would have been worth.
The Prius would turn out to be worst car I ever owned. Multiple repairs for a steering system jackhammering effect that did not solve the problem. Repair shop replaced fuses, timing belt, said tires were underinflated, and reprogrammed the computer. Eventually I had to pay $9k out of pocket to remove the engine and replace the entire steering rack and pinion electric assist system. The two motors controlling the steering were worse than the two computers on the Millennium Falcon. In 2011 I traded the Prius in for a 2011 Honda Insight.
My 2011 Honda Insight has been the best damn vehicle I ever bought. Just needs a new set of heat shields for the two catalytic converters I never knew it had.
Plus it has this game where the vehicle teaches you how to drive green. Weekly fill-ups became bi-weekly fill-ups. Now… MONTHLY fill-ups. Even with a noticeably aging battery pack.
The other units were hiding in the bathroom or making coffee when became aware that a flat came in.
I have the good fortune of living near Tech International, formerly Tech Tire and Rubber. I was introduced to their products at a young age. I use patch plugs on everything. I generally ream the hole and push rubber cement through. This is supposed to be necessary in the salted north to prevent salt water intrusion which could potentially corrode the steel belts. I've never seen a belt fail in 50 years so maybe it's just overkill promoted by Tech.
Omg! You're scratching the inside of the rim! ROFLMFAO…j/k hahaha haha. Love your content! Always puts a smile on my face!
Murano is Italian for "moron". For the people who think the cars are actually attractive.
Man, I love torque wrench cam! I’m serious.
Nice to see a tire repaired correctly. They used to just stick a plug in it without taking it off the car.
Murano is Mexican for pig
People are saying that plugs don’t work. Yes they are correct, plugs usually don’t hold up. But there is a difference in a patch plug and a plug. A patch plug done correctly will out last the tire itself. I’ve personally ran a racetrack at 140 mph with a patch plug in the tire. They are great!😂
Murano is a series of islands linked by bridges in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy.
No ants this time? I`m a little disappointed.
A Merino is a type of sheep . Prized for its high quality wool. Merano is a city in northern Italy.
What is it about torque wrench cam, Ray??
One comment that was omitted: "The black "paint" at the last was used to reduce air turbulence while the tire is rotating in the proper direction… It does nothing in reverse…"
It's funny that you are struggling with the tire it shows that us mechanics are human and the stupid simplest things can kick our buts
That NAPA sign with "Auto Care" written on it on the wall in front of the car reminds me to ask if you did a check on the other tires wheel nuts being tight?
I know that sometimes a mechanic can become myopic in focus and not do a complete safety check on the rest of the vehicle in your care.
YOU, being so conscientious as a rule, I just wondered.
The name Murano derives from an Italian city in Murano
Question about the pliers that you called needle noses. Why plural when it is one tool?
It is a piece of be shit
You earned a new sub, this is great. I love your videos 😂
is it related to Ray ramono?
I used to work with a guy that would decline every flat repair he picked up. I even took some of them and actually fixed them. A flat repair is .8 to me and cheap to fix for the customer. A new tire is .3 and costly to the customer. I'd even get tips from helping some of said customers for helping them save money. Tried telling him being honest is much better than lying….well he didn't listen and was fired for dishonesty and multiple complaints/comebacks.
A "Morano" is Italian for someone that would buy a Nissan.
"Hye! Youa morano for buying such a cheap ah car"
Murano is an island,in Venice,Italy.
Ray I have the impression that most of the detractors are not actual mechanics and never have been.
Anyone who would comment about bouncing a tire has never ever worked in a shop.
Your procedure is what 99% of us do. I like your logic in diagnosing other issues as well.
Slip jaw needle nose pliers? COOL! I can't recall ever having seen such a critter before. Oh! Are these the "infamous" welding pliers? LOL
That pinch weld jack point will look like crispy bacon
Forget about Murano…
What about the Qashqai? (The Rogue in non-US markets)
Ray, you really need to work on your vocal reproduction of the shop ring tone. It's "doo DOO doo", not "doo doo DOO doo doo da doo".
Mirano is a series island near Italy Venetian lagoon , Nissan like to put Spanish names in US , sometime asian vehicle add US territory like Tacoma Indian name or Tundra, but in Asian they don’t have Latin name or US territory names. And another things Ray , when I change tires I removed the weight on the rims first so the customer don’t point fingers at us for scratching their rims , avoid from conflicts with this customers
Just want to say thank you always good for a laugh when I had a bad day at the dealership
sounds like some eye Tallians calling someone a Moron, Hey vinnie loogadat murano!
Murano is a suburb of Venice, Why the SUV has that name? Not a clue
that tire is Worn out!
It is a Boar (a male pig)
Mirano is a big dummy, don't be a mirano
The Chrysler of Japan – I love it!
I always thought a Murano was a cookie from Pepperidge Farm. Talk about running out of names for cars. What's next.. the Chips-Ahoy where the paint is guaranteed to flake off over ti.. wait that already exists.
I like the guy from Bangladesh who lives in the tire repair hut and repairs huge to small tires with a fire, raw rubber, a hammer, and one curved tool!
Murano?
That's an island of Venice, Italy. It's famous for glass-artists/craftsmen that make the famous Murano Glass. 😉
Why not using a plug ? 4 minutes of work. Commonly done here in the Netherlands or isn't allowed in the US?
Ah, the classic reach-around. Eric O. taught you well.
My 2013 Flex went over 65,000 miles before the OEM tires needed replacing. After (well, technically, shortly before) we gave that car to my daughter, we bought an almost identical 2019 Flex. Same tires, wheels, and engine, but the new one is AWD, and the tires were showing significant wear before 50,000 miles. I was holding off buying new ones, but my wife somehow found the end of a boxcutter that literally tore a gash in the center of the tread. You could literally hear the air escaping.
We somehow managed to find an open garage (not many are open Saturdays) that was able to patch the tire, much the same way you do here. I'd have preferred a replacement but they had none in stock (just a small two-stall shop that mostly does oil changes and tire rotations). They did a nice job, and the tire held pressure with no problem.
Since it was a gash rather than a simple puncture, I didn't have complete confidence in the patch, so I bit the bullet and got a set of Pirellis online for a reasonably good price. Had them installed at the same shop and have very pleased so far. I probably could have kept the old tires to the end of their useful life (I'd be at the wear bars in less than 10,000 miles), but I feel better about these.
May I ask a general question? I bought a 2020 Honda Accord Sport 2.0T 10speed during COVID as its an amazing car. I now have 42K miles on it, 90% highway miles as I drove cross country during COVID on military duty and I drive to see my GF (St Louis to Cincinnati OH) regularly. I do maintenance early, transmission and brake fluid changed out at at 30K along with tires. Dealer says its in like new condition. How concerned with mileage should I be if the overwhelming majority of miles are highway. I am preparing to retire and love my car, and am hesitant to sell it as it runs as good as the day I bought it. I trust your recommendations and I am curious, would you trade it in just because of highway miles. BTW Brake shoes are still factory and have another 10-15K on them.
Does the metal part of the patch just slides off or do you cut it off?
I feel baited by @South Main – but darn it why didn't you loosen the lugs first?
The old tire patches instructions were to set it on fire!
In the UK that's a fail , not repairable .
Round here, I call them Nissan Moron-O’s. You have to watch these very closely because of the constantly stupid things the people who drive those will do.
On form today Ray, some very beavis & Butthead humour creeping in!
Man I love your vids, but you must know that already! I'm diy garage dad, so 30+ years using a plug kit. My own cars are ok for that.
Murano is a series of islands linked by bridges in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy. It lies about 1.5 kilometres (1 mile) north of Venice and measures about 1.5 km (1 mi) across with a population of just over 5,000 (2004 figures).[1] It is famous for its glass making. It was once an independent comune, but is now a frazione of the comune of Venice.
FWIW from what I understand (not a metallurgist) the bending a paper clip until it breaks phenomenon; what's happening is the metal work-hardens until it becomes brittle enough it breaks instead of bending.
Wow, congratulations. I put up a tire repair video a long time ago and it's my number one troll video. I think you'll quickly find after you get a few hundred thousand views as you usually do that 98% of those viewers are tire patch experts. You may not have known this… There's three things you never do on YouTube… Weld anything even if you are an expert, solder any type of wire, even if you are an expert, or patch a tire. You've broken every single rule….😐
