    Train wreck waiting to happen.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Clamshell SP says:

Replace the brake booster? I rebuilt hundreds of them at the GM dealer I worked for. That pays 1.5 extra.

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dhalin says:

Crap, that front driver's side shock was entirely bent, lol. Would be surprised if that thing don't just snap out of there completely and go flying through the fender well or something, sheesh. The owner doesn't know that he is literally driving a ticking time bomb, and that driver's side wheel mount is just going to snap one of these days because there's nothing holding it there. Not to mention, the force of every bump in the road travelling through the wheel mounts into the vehicle's frame, adding extra stress to the whole thing. This truck is definitely headed to the scrapyard, won't be too much longer. Sad, because it didn't look like it was in that bad of shape other than the issues Ray pointed out. Throw some new tires on it, repair those sway bar links and the brake system and you'd have yourself a decent truck. If only my 07 Silverado were so lucky, mine has a 2 foot rusted frame section and I'm likely to sell it as a parts vehicle because I don't want to pay upwards of $4,000 to get it back on the road.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rick Mossop says:

Did anyone else wince when Ray started picking at the steel cords? Steel tire belts can give you some of the most painful jabs, and Ray just started casually picking at them.

My thoughts were the same as yours, someone has been here before you, brake work done and no new fluid added!

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rick Timmons says:

great job figuring out what ALL is wrong!

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Doc Seven says:

why didnt you use the brand new spare tire on the right front ? letting that right front go like that might be a law suit

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bowtie Guy says:

So does the shop charge the customer anything for the inspection if no repairs are done?

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars American Made says:

Damn really? Knowing that there are poeple driving on the roads with these POS with all of us

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill Gates killed my uncle says:

And if the guy doesn't fix it, he's endangering every person he meets on the road.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul Finey says:

Just a question. As a repairer can you be held responsible if the released vehicle is involved in an accident, or do you have the "customer" sign some sort of waiver?

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars H says:

Why not call the cops and report this dangerous vehicle? Get a case number for future reference.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mild to Wild RC says:

Man people just donโ€™t get it๐Ÿค”Keep your vehicle serviced and in top workin order and it will last sooo long๐ŸคฏI am still driving my 2005 H2 daily with over 260,000 miles on all original power train and have worn out 4 sets of all terrain tires .Decided to put new wheels and tires for the 3rd time to give a new look๐Ÿ˜‚Paint still like new still too๐Ÿ‘

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kenny Love says:

Wow … the SPARE TIRE looks like "factory issue"! The trucks owner is obviously to Stupid/Lazy/Bum to AT LEAST replace the past worn-out tire with the spare tire. Oh well, that Vacuum Booster wont last much longer, OR, his brakes will fail due to lack of fluid…IF he doesn't crash the truck when that bad tire BLOWS ! I HATE STUPID PEOPLE !!!

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars #SEETHEFOREST says:

Need to flush those brakes wouldn't you say?
    That fluid shouldn't be black

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robbie Norquay says:

Iโ€™m guessing the upper control arm ball joint is worn out causing the wheel to lean in towards the car and wearing the tire out like that? I had the same issue on my 2008 Suburban

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Jay says:

Here in Australia they won't let you drive it away like that
Can't believe the state of some the cars you guys have on the roads there

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Peat says:

Whenever someone brings in a vehicle and opens with "you worked on my car before…" you know they're only looking for a free warranty/goodwill repair and will decline anything else.

When you see multiple issues which are obviously non-recent you KNOW they've already declined those repairs in the last few places they tried to get other free work done too!

It boggles my mind that some US states have no safety inspection requirement – then you have States which make the owner of a car responsible for ANY incident their car is involved in (even if they're not present!!) which is kinda the opposite type of silly – some middle ground whereby you need to prove your car isn't an absolute deathtrap seems kinda wise tho – no?

or is it just that feeling of freedom, knowing that pickup coming towards you might just veer over and wipe-you-out? ๐Ÿ™‚

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul Boudreau says:

People like this need a slap side of the head to wake them up

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul Boudreau says:

Pretty bad people like this are on the road and have no idea how much danger they are in

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Paul Boudreau says:

Hard ti believe these scan tools out of all they can do why can't they tell what kind of vehicle they are hooked up to

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Travis Fox says:

"Is this thing safe to drive?"

    "No."

    "I'm-a drive it anyway." :/

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars California Volcano says:

Letโ€™s hope he decided the truck was not worth repairing and scraped it! From what I saw he would not be wrong!

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Q_Jet FantasyGarage says:

Man, those newer gm trucks are built like junk, that front end is cheaper than a dime store cigar.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars freewill1114 says:

Customer has no money for repairs. He no doubt has a big screen TV, cigarettes, beer, and other vital necessities. After I made the last payment on my car, I just kept on putting the payments in my bank, instead of the lender's. When I needed a new battery, tires, and just recently a front wheel CV assembly, I had cash available to pay for it. We live on social security BTW. It's a matter of priorities. I just hope I'm not the unfortunate victim of that jerk's lack of responsibility.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bruce Meinsen says:

That's a big money job; perhaps the owner couldn't afford it. Unfortunately, merely driving the thing home to park it until the funds are available is a risk. Tires $750, master cylinder with PBB about $300. $1200 in parts plus markup, labor/tax; probably quoted him $1800. Do the job yourself: $1000, maybe less with cheaper tires/parts.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars chrossphyre says:

Wouldn't you at least put the spare on for the ruined tire? At least that won't explode on him on the way home.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wayne Caffey says:

I'm willing to bet owner thought was issue with the recent brake job (Ray noted painted was still visible) . Thus thought no need to pay, found out it wasn't and needs to pay. All sudden no need for work.

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Graham says:

Just curious if you rotated the bad tire to the back before sending it away?. Not insinuating anything, just curious.

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scott Graham says:

I'm assuming they bled the brakes without refilling or the brake booster is leaking internally maybe. Im 2/3 through the video

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sam Francisco says:

I have my son check his fluids and tire pressure once a month and rotate tires regularly. America's tire does rotates for free and checks tire pressure. Some people do not deserve to own cars being as stupid as this owner is a prime example.

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Head says:

Why not6 offer to put the spare on to replace the one that was worn? I coudn't let him leave without a warning.

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joey Turner says:

never in my experience have i ever seen a drum come off that easy

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Plotkin says:

Here in California, it's illegal to put that corded and exposed steel belt tire back on the vehicle. This owner is not keeping up with routine maintenance at all and will eventually have catastrophic failure of the differential as the gear oil continues to leak out from the rear cover.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dave Smilie says:

I had this EXACT problem for over a year. Took all of the same steps you did TWICE. Then I figured it out. As a side note, if you let enough fluid enter the booster, it will eventually suck through the vacuum and you'll get a smoke that looks like a blown head gasket but smells sweeter.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars GhOst says:

Leak up front from brake booster

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Roberts says:

Probably just drove it to a used car lot and sold it! ๐Ÿ˜‚

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason Waltman says:

Ya know when people decline repairs, i get it. We all know how money trouble can be. However, its when they continue to drive it in such poor and unsafe condition that I get mad. That car and untold numbers just like it are out there on the road with me, my kids, my family, my friends… the stuff that has rolled in anb back out of the shop I work in terrifies me.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Steven Smith says:

I like the Twister line you threw in there. ๐Ÿ˜€๐ŸŒช

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Howard Bowen says:

Yep people may be a bit strapped for cash but that truck shouldn't be allowed on the road. Dangerous.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars immrnoidall says:

LOL. After explaining that situation they actually asked you ,,,,,,,,"Is it ok to drive"? WOW ,,,,,,,,,,, Customers ask the funniest things.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Neil Felsbourg says:

The spare looks brand new. Would not want to ruin that by putting it on the front end with all those missing parts.

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Valve Geek says:

2 or 3 years ago I took mine into the dealer for a service, they found a broken spring, didn't have spares in house, wouldn't let me drive it away to bring back later! In the UK, if the police saw those 2 tyres it would be ยฃ5,000 fines (ยฃ2,500 each) and 6 penalty points on your driving licence (get 9, and you're banned).

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John King says:

TPS is indicating tire low pressure.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Justin Murphy says:

  50. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars kenneth stewart says:

  51. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars don says:

I can't believe how easy those drums came off, up here in salt country (Canada) that would require a can of loose-nut, a puller, and the favorite sledge-o-matic!

  52. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars L says:

Their spare tire is 1000% more betterer than that one with the wire shit coming out of it.

  53. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Juntasification says:

I knew they are gonna deny any repairs. Florida needs annual vehicle state inspection. Some of the worst POS's I've ever seen are in this channel (which I love :).

    why are the brakes gone?!
"captain jack sparrow, somewhere in the 1700's"

  56. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Greg Butler says:

Owners are responsible for keeping their vehicles safe and operational and should remember what all maintenance needs to be checked and when . This idiot declined service!! they should be reported to the local and state police for driving an unsafe vehicle that is just a wreck waiting to happen .

  57. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Terry Monroe says:

For Chevy it's a money concern

  58. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Terry Monroe says:

Not a fan of Chevys after 96 they just turned into junk an this truck proves that

  59. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars s t says:

The guy had you do the diagnostic for him because he could not figure out where the fluid went…. Now he's gonna go get used parts from the junk yard and fix it him self for 50$…..

  60. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars SGTJDerek says:

You can definitely tell people don't know jack about vehicles anymore. Everything except the tires and alignment I could, and have done in my driveway. I don't understand it. That truck is way to expensive to replace to let such simple fixes get to the point it's at.

  61. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Fred K. says:

Spelling/grammar looks funny on the sticker. IDK, I could be wrong… The 1st/2nd problem one.

  62. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars keep smiling says:

How can the owner decline the servis?. I'm seeing it too often. But you are putting your head in sand. I ask every time, if the mechanic see something anything suspicious to tell me and to fix it. Why wouldn't you repair, it will go just from bad to worse. Cars didn't heal themselves

  63. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Xanthopteryx says:

In Sweden, that would not have gone through the YEARLY inspection. Driving ban. Tow from inspection.
And if a workshop sees it like this, they can definitely have the police give it a driving ban. Tow from workshop.

The road safety really needs to step up in the US.

  64. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars gaz ferg says:

  65. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Cruzmissile73 says:

Ray not sure about what you are looking at sometimes did you notice the head of the screw in the rear drivers side tire big as day? You said the tire looked good and bounced on?

  66. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars twinscrewedfox says:

As a fellow Floridian seeing the number of vehicles on the road in disrepair. And seeing the safety concerns get ignored, I hate to say it…But Florida needs inspections back.

  67. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ian Belford says:

Hi Ray, I though you should have at least replaced that shit tire with the spare so he would be less likely to have a blowout and harm someone else if not himself.

  68. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Christopher Mc bride says:

wow those folks r dumb as hell thts a very serious safety issue it shouldn't be on the road on the real

  69. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wayne Jackson says:

Surely an anonymous message to the local police station about an unroadworthy vehicle being driven around is warranted. It's not like you'd want his repeat business.

  70. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars D3ATHWOLF says:

in aus if he got pulled over by a cop he would be walking due to the missing sway bad link and even if it was attacted he would still have to change the tire as it would be a safty issue for the ocupents and other people, they would look at the tire then start looking for anything else thats wrong,
think most shops wouldnt let the guy drive the car out of the shop in that state he would have to get a tow truck

  71. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars geofjones9 says:

Had to be $ 2500 of work & parts on a 14 year old car with $500 in body damage that I saw. Plus trans shifting badly? Trade it off!

  72. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TheStuffMade says:

Let's hope they're not going too fast when that tire explodes.

  73. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Henley Deng says:

not even that beyond corked tire was changed?? that is insane… your tires are the primary thing that makes contact with the asphalt on the road… wow…. thats beyond cheap…. this is why i never by used cars… u just dont know if the owner takes pride in maintenance of their vehicle that they so hard paid per month on their payments…

  74. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Renaldo Normani says:

  80. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Adam Tom says:

Goodyear where I live use to do free diagnostic until most of them would take that info and leave to try and fix it themselves only to bring it back because it turned out to be bigger than they thought.

  81. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sean Lacroix says:

Where I live the mechanic would be required by law to not let the vehicle leave until fixed if itโ€™s a safety issue like that. My sister took her Kia to my mechanic and her brake booster had failed and he wouldnโ€™t let her take the car.

  82. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars The Iron Medic says:

    Love the twister quote ๐Ÿ‘

  83. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jerry G. says:

Where I live, the garage management by law must have the customer sign a detailed vehicle condition form indicating they realize the safety concern. If the customer refuses to sign the garage management cannot allow the vehicle out from the shop without that form signed. If customer puts up a fight the police must be called. A copy of that form must be submitted to the department that regulates automobile safety, and to police. The customer will very quickly receive a formal notification they cannot drive the vehicle on the road until it is serviced and passes inspection. If caught on the road the vehicle will be seized and an expensive find would be issued. This is very serious!

  87. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Les Reeves says:

Here in Australia it is illegal to let a vehicle back on the road with faulty brakes & if the vehicle is older than 3 years it has to have an annual saftey inspection & the brakes have to pass a test with some sort of machine connected to the pedal & speed up to 60kph & brake hard to give a read out on the machine that then prints a read out which then has to be entered into the government computer system before you can register your car for the next 12 months.(big fines for the mechanical workshop if found to done incorrectly & there is away to falseify that test ask me how I know)

  88. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars chris says:

my jeep had a master cylinder leaking into the booster it took me years to figure out where all my brake fluid was going I replaced the calipers all the lines which were due and the brake cylinders in the rear I would still slowly lose fluid so I would just top it up every few months. what made me figure out it was the master leaking was the booster filled up then started sucking brake fluid into the intake through the vacuum tube. all the sudden the engine would blow out a huge cloud of white smoke and flaming brake fluid dripping out the exhaust

  89. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Huntmachine says:

The owner of that truck probably doesn't carry sufficient insurance either…Hope no one is hurt and only his property is damaged when that front tire lets go 5 miles down the road.

Service declined doesn't mean he's not going to fix it. I many times take my cars to a shop to have it diagnosed if I can't do it myself. If the problem something I can do then I decline the service and do it myself. Yes, I rather pay a pro to find it than spend hours or days doing it. I am pretty good DIY too and enjoy working on my Toytas, did a timing chain last weekend too. Fun ๐Ÿ˜‚

  95. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars South Main Auto Repair LLC says:
