At Yer Age you might need Help lifting a Rachet
Best wishes Ray from Declan in Galway Ireland nice few pieces of work on the Lexus enjoy the Heineken 🙋🙋👍👍🍺🍺🍺
He forgot the green subscribe button
Excellent channel. Love your approach to the job. I really like your sayings on the T shirts. I'm a bit funny in that I only like writing on the backs. Any chance on getting a custom one made? I'm probably a bit funny in other areas too. But let's not talk about that.
If anyone thinks your hands are dirty, just say you were stacking charcoal in the grill. They are fake dirty. We know you guys were grilling it up for labor day.
Teach a man to make fish and grits and he’ll never have to work a day in his life. What a racket! Buy fish, buy grits, mix them together and sell them. It’s like running a peanut butter and jelly sandwich restaurant, except the choice is not grape or strawberry jelly but rather fish or shrimp. Darn $12 shrimp and grits! It’s highway robbery.
that was a lot of crap just for a radiator!
ultra low profile tools are awesome. I've had too many jobs that required them.
did you reattach the trans lines under the car?
I was screaming at you the entire time to lift that vehicle first.. you have to remove the cover, the two bolts you were after, and the lines/brackets/screws anyway.
And using non factory coolant is likely what has caused their cooling system problems in the first place btw. Mixing coolants even though “they’re the same” is not best practice. I would argue a majority of cooling system issues are caused by 1) not changing it enough and 2) mixing coolants. But since this thing only had water when it came in.. who cares? Certainly not the customer.
Worm drive hose clamp gravity.
Older but much wiser
How-do-you-remember-where-all-the-screws-go???
Might I suggest the metric sledge? 6 lbs or the equivalent in killergrahams! At the very least the unit releases tons (metric) of pent up frustration associated with engineer types!
You did the removal and installs skillfully. If I didn't put cardboard between the condenser and radiator I would have punctured one or both 🙂
Maybe Ray had a few Heinekens before work instead after work. He said he had plenty of sleep no coffee makes me wonder.
Woah, when the flashlight fell, my heart sank thinking your parts tray was going to flip!!!
If you give a man a match, he will be warm for a while.
If you light the man on fire, he will be warm for the rest of his life.
My kid comes home from high school. "Dad, I just heard this brand new song by this band called Aerosmith. Dude looks like a lady." I go to my cassette box, grab "big ones". Shows my kid the cassette, ask them to read the song list and copyright date. "Dad. There is music on that thing? Holly Crap. 1979. That tape is older than I am." I put the tape in the JVC, stereo rack cassette player, just to prove that the cassette's were a real thing and that they sound good. Of course I turned the volume up to 11. The 14 inch woofer in the 4ft tall speakers, beat the hell out of their 3 inch speakers of their portable radio/cd player. lol. Kids loved it. Then I told them that they could NEVER do that to MY stereo. (without my permission) :~)
It's OK Ray, I bet I'm older than your Dad.
I don't know why this bothers me so much but can the shop please buy a hose nozzle for the washing station?!?! The finger method only works so well.
Good job ray.
I have a set of the profile sockets, love them especially when working on stuff that has a long cord!!!
great effort! u really know what to do!
I was gonna say that but?
Lexus and Mercedes, always end well despite the trouble yet always still so expensive to fix.
Glad to hear you like the same beer as me Ray! Cheers 🍻
I love the videos! Keep 'em coming!
You were asking about audio quality in another video – Can you go back to the old mic please? This new one is better and picks up all the high frequencies from the fans and stuff, and I prefer the other mic.
Your not old Ray, it’s seasoned and experienced. Wise to the younglings at your work. 😂
I'm 65. It doesn't get any better after 45. The bright side is if you live long enough, you get wiser about the stupid crap you dare not do anymore, Some call that maturity. I call it crap. Just saying.
After looking at the length of your phalanges, I’m glad you’re a mechanic and not a proctologist!
Hump day Heineken 🤙🍺🍻
By the way when Ray was making fun of the noises co-workers were making by going wah wah wah wah wah it sounded like the adults in Charlie Brown hey have a good day thank you Ray bye
I hate to say it's not you it's the way the engineers to put design the vehicle to go together at the factory and have no concern whatsoever for the people that have to work on it or service it and as far as you know you saying that oh it didn't go as planned hey yours got to have a plan a a plan b and a plan c and I usually pull out enough tools to cover all basis and make sure have all parts cuz I hate stopping in the middle of a job hunting around and the other thing is you got to look at it this way I like getting jobs done and I do them in a timely manner or did them in a timely manner but you're not going to die if you don't have the job today the world's not going to come to an end people put false priorities and stuff that doesn't really mean anything and being in the maintenance and service industry myself I got that kind of pressure from people and I'd say I'll get it done when I'm done I'll do the best I can now turn around and leave I will take care of you have a good day bye
If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime
How do you tell when the thermostat opened?
"we gotta make sure the camshafts are in time" admit it ray you just wanted to get on it lol
this channel isn't just working on cars, it's a complete experience. tho you should do more grenaded engines 😀
I owned this same car for 13 years and there are so many obstacles in some of the common repairs, it really turned me off of Toyota vehicles.
no no no the saying is give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day take the fish and tell him he's lucky to be alive and he'll figger out how to have a fish for you to take tomorrow
…. anyways, give a man a fish, he has a fish,
teach a man to fish, and he'll sit in the boat all day drinking beer.
I would have forgotten where 90% of those bolts went and/or knocked the bolt tray down inside the engine bay. Good job bud 👍
Goodbye Ray.
Age and treachery will often overcome youth and skill, Rainman.
You forgot to put back that 10mm bolt that you had to lift the car and get under in front.
Ray if you're old than I'm accent! I was out of college when you graduated high school!! Great job! Can't believe that radiator doesn't have plastic tanks.
another great video…..yes… 6.4 Hemi…..love em…. better with stick.
I'm happy I don't own this car! Can't believe all those wires and hoses are necessary.
You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him fish.
Little JB weld will fix that right up😂
2022 is the year Soylent Green is set..
2022 is the year Soylent Green is set..
Says "The Ray" I love it!😊I live in Canada Vancouver I never realized we DO call it antifreeze wow What on earth is that strange music? that's playing as you pour in your "coolant" hehe
I used to like amber beers. I can't have any alcohol at all. A friend left a can of 0.0 Heineken. So that is now my 'beer'' of choice. Besides Walmart witt deliver it.
I read "1984" in the mid 1950s. It was terrifying.
Thanks for the info on how the proper way to diagnose and repair things.
reply: How old is your mom?
Did you turn on the heater so it's core could fill a lot of people forget this & wonder why the car still overheats.
You make everything look so easy. I’d be fn this and fn that! Great work. You’re one talented guy.
Hello!
Ray, when you "remove more than you need to remove", you often actually needed to remove whatever it was. Which reassures those of us common people that worrying about loss of time is often wasted worry and not necessarily wasted time.
Thank you!
Note: The phone is always asking/demanding "ans-WER-me". __
Now I wait for the power steering pump bracket to fall off, yeah that top bolt didn't get clicked in last thrilling episode. But most everything else checked out cept I didn't hear the horns, you got the steering wheel dirty with your dirty hands and I didn't feel the AC come on………
You didn't show us you're putting those hoses back on the bottom of the frame
One of the amazing things of this car is that the dash is not cracked.
Great 2-part series! Thanks for sharing.
I'll never understand customers who do not clean their engine compartment before service.
Being older than someone's dad isn't so bad. Wait until you're older than someone's grandfather.
A Robin Williams line keeps coming to me when I see particular elements of your work. And I quote: "Oh shit, gravity works!"
The saying: Terry Pratchett — 'Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.'
Ray you should tell those guys at work that pick on you about your age tell them you will be my age some day and someone younger then them are going to say the same thing to you so it will go full circle.
I need a beer after watching this and I don't even drink! 🤣
With age comes wisdom!!
Most days you move with an appreciable economy of motion. Most days.
NAPA PROLink says Waterpump 5.1 hrs Radiator 2.6 hrs
Ray you never told us if you fastened the cooler lines underneath the car when you took the two bolts out to move them out of the way so you could get the bolt when you lifted the car up in the air
It’s been nagging at me for months, but it suddenly clicked when yo pondered if you were talking to yourself or to us: it’s what I saw for decades with the best surgeons, talking through each step of each case to keep themselves organized and to reach the staff. We learned so much from those excellent docs.
Where can I send you stuff, I need an address..
No no no, it’s wifi 6 and wifi 7 that screws with magnets. 5G just influences your thoughts towards complacency 😉
Nice repair grandpa 😛
Hey Ray, if you give a man a fish he eats for a day. If you teach him to fish he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!
I am so thrilled to see that natural, excess hand and arm hair length is not a deterrent to handling combustion engines. Jeez. I expected someone to say, "Right turn, Clive" at any point.
Great job! especially for an old guy
Ray I can remember the year ya'll were born like yesterday. Youngun.
You came so close a couple times-
I thought for sure you were going to hit that precariously placed
parts tray, sending fasteners flying into the Abyss of Never Never Land.
Love the wash station…. In California your shop would get shut down for that
Another winner Ray. 👍 👍 👍
It is ok for a valve to hit a piston but not ok for the piston to hit a valve
Have you ever had tools stolen at work? By customers or coworkers?
No bad feelings, but you could get some noise cancelation next? 🤔
That was one heck of a ray-diator job! 😆
Teach a man to fish and he will spend too much money at Cabelas.
OK RainMan Moses demand Open Sesame😂😂😂 strong gravity
The gravity is strong today Ray, may the force not be against you, Earth's mass conspires against you, beware the gravitons. !!!!!!!!😬😬😬😬
A small air tube inserted in the bottom of the purge funnel would speed up that process immensely .
Ray is making it hard to watch old to new videos
I learned the hard way ruining a couple of new pumps that starting them dry is a bad idea…
I’d have found a bleed screw and made sure that coolant had found its way into the block first before starting the new water pump.
The rate the coolant went in when you started it told me it wasn’t aiding the rate of fill and the pump was turning dry.
It ruins the seal…
And remember, if he can do it, you can do it.
If you ever find yourself in a situation where you'd be in dire need of physical rehab, just start working again. Becaue with all these positions, pulls & pushes and everything you'd be pretty much covered. No need to waste any time elsewhere.
