Here's my saying to you Ray – To when you say { have yourselves a great day } from me to you { Only if you have one first.}
😂 I thought I was the only one 😂 Stupid lightbulb
Been there with bulbs have fun ray
Thanks for being good to the seasoned citizens.
I hate odometers without the 1/10 of a mile section. It makes it more difficult to mark off The 1/4 Mile❗😁😂👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✌
Bulb life shortened by fingerprints.
P.S.
Dad became an aircraft mechanic. An A.P.😁✌
I appreciate mechanics who can actually fix things and aren't just parts replacers. I'm 77 years old and was taught mechanical work by my Dad. He was a "real" mechanic. I like to think I followed in his footsteps. Thank you, a REAL MECHANIC❗😁👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✌
Pretty cool seeing you work on the same model I drive. I have a 2008 I bought 5 years ago. If you want a bigger more challenging job with one try replacing the clutch slave cylinder on one with a 6 speed manual trans. sometime. Mine went out spraying brake fluid all over the clutch components because it is actually mounted on the transmission input shaft inside the bell housing on these cars. The real surprise was when the shop gave me an estimate saying that model has to have the engine and trans removed from the car before separating them to get to the clutch components. Since I have a lift in my home garage and the tools left over from working on my kid's cars when they where in school years ago I did it all myself instead and the shop was correct. 😉 Other than that, it's been a great car and is my daily driver. Much better gas mileage running around town than my 2018 Silverado.
A place for everything and everything in it's place.
I still find the simple jobs helpful. Each car can be slightly different for the same thing and nothing helps remembering like repetition.
Lol our Kia has those same brake lamp bulb sockets and I've done the same exact thing. It just doesn't seem to make sense no matter what way you spin it ha
I appreciate your honesty with the customer about the findings with the CV Joint. My first thought when you dropped the rock shield down is that the last oil change got rather messy. Someone may have not tightened the filter causing lots of oil to spray went they started the car to check for leaks. Once discovered they probably replaced the filter with a new one or cleaned it up really well but didn't clean the oil sitting on the upper side of the rock shield. Later the puddles of oil left up there dripped out as the car was parked on a less than level parking area. I only say this because that is exactly what happen to mine one time when I took it to a quick lube center for an oil change. 😉
Good MORNING TO YOU! I NEEDED MY RAY FIX FOR TODAY, THANK YOU.
Dang it, I just discovered that my side by side has an oil leak and tail light out.
Gets tacos, doesn't document the tacos… bologna. I gotta know of good taco places.
Already saw the Challenger video.
Did you sneak blue water in while our backs were turned?
A good video as always, Thank you. Sometimes it's nice to see the basic's done, especially for those of us who don't do these kinds of things ourselves very often. A Nice 'refresher course' if you will.
you don't need any support underneath while removing that mount?
I wish Ray was my mechanic, a man with great integrity and really knows what he is doing. Above all, love the honesty. Not enough of those kind of mechanics around. Those hour rate books many mechanics quote are typically way over charging. I had a pep boys mechanic where I waited for the work, quoted me 4.5hrs mechanics rate per his magic book, and I only waited 2hrs and the job was done. They still wouldnt reduce the hourly rate even though it was completed in half the time. He tried to explain to me its just as a guide line and some mechanics work faster than others, that was a bunch of horse puckey? Argued with the guy until I turned blue in the face, I will never ever use Pep boys again. I could see if the time estimate was off by maybe an hour at most but, 4.5hr in their rate book and it actually only took 2 hours, thats a vast difference, and skeptical at best. I've found to educate myself as best as possible and get a minimum of 2 quotes for repair to verify some consistency. A great mechanic thats honest is worth his weight in gold, and is as rare to find as gold unfortunately. Be careful guys and gals. Ray, you are the man!!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm just not sure?
Like the head mount the right hand
Just pull wiper forward.
SERIOUSLY! WHHHHY?
Off Topic, but…I heard there is a seniors complex in Florida that uses Shower Poofs to convey what kind of swinger you are. True? 😂
Well – you added 'blinker fluid' to the left rear!
Gah I hate coming across the high beams.always on drivers. Swear the thought process must be "the little blue light means my lights are on".
Bruh. The whole light bulb part had me cracking up. Not because I'm laughing at your frustration but I kinda am because I've done this before! LOL!!!!!! Afterwards I was like, really? Ha!
Yes, but did you refil the blinker fluid? 😉
Young man that was a very honest decision you made so the customer didn't have to spend unnecessary money. We need more people like you in these businesses take care….
You're a good man Charlie Brown.
You're a good man Charlie Brown !
Im a pest control tech in Mobile Al just have to say while dobbers have stingers they are extremely unlikely to sting they are not aggressive at all love the vids though sry just couldnt stop myself
So what you’re saying is that had the lady not been of senior age then you would be more than happy to recommend, fit and charge someone for components and repairs that are in no way needed 😮 It is mechanics and shops like you and where you work that give the industry a bad reputation. Your the most dishonest mechanic I’ve seen yet on YouTube, but also rather dumb to admit such on camera. You should be ashamed of yourself and that con shop you work for needs to be shut down for what they do and for what they allow hacks like you to do. 👎🏻
OEM wiper parts are typically refills and cost 30% less than aftermarket cartridges. It takes 20% more effort to refill vs replace. It makes no sense to replace the whole unit
Thank you ,I'm a weder in small town and u gave me confidence ,not a mechanic but I'm the go to giy
Reeeee you handled that bulb with your fingers and didn't clean it with alcohol afterwards. Reeeee!
The problem will persist. Get a new dealio
Didn't see any blue water being long distance poured into the washer fluid reservoir. We would know that had been done by the washer fluid reservoir cap click after said fliud reservoir fill. We didn't see or hear a washer fluid reservoir cap clip, so we are all going to assume you forgot to do that. You'll need to bring that customer back for a complimentary washer fluid reservoir fill and cap click service. I think that should be a video so we all know that said service was performed.
What say you?
Lot of Hyundai
What about the washer fluid? It didn’t spray when you tested it?
I never use my highbeams. Since they moved the dimmer out of the floor I don't have time to figure out where it is before I brightlight someone so I just leave it on low.
Ray thanks again 👍
I have a 2014 sonata….those light bulb tabs are impossible
The situation with you trying to put in the light would have made a good Peter Griffin cutaway for Family Guy (e.g. Move whale w/ forklift)
Just curious if one of the other shop techs would be replacing those axles if they were assigned that car?
"Dude, what happened to your GoPro, Hurricane Ian?" Ray droops his shoulders and head shakes "Nissan Versa…."
🔥🔥 great as always 😎
Good ethics my friend you are one in a million 👍
Een honestly and Thanks for saving the money to the customer
Hello! A well-car check to see what a car might have wrong with it once in a while makes sense — and once in a while cents. Fixing the bulb socket so that the rear light works makes much more sense than selling an entire new brake-light kit. [I had a car for a couple of decades which had a melted light socket. To keep the light working I simply added solder to increase the height of the contact on the proper side of the bulb. I only expect that whoever ended up taking care of the car — assuming it held up for the next owner — might not have understood such a fix. __
Ray drops the GoPro Nissan "OMNOMNOM…BURRRP!!!"
Damn, that's a big battery for such a small engine.
Bulb repair 1.99..installation 27.50..lol 😁🇨🇦👍
Customer could easily get another 30-60K miles out of that half-shaft before replacement would be needed, so yeah, no need to do it now. If anything, possibly consider just a boot replacement in the near future to prevent premature failure.
Ray, what about the non-spraying windshield washer? Was it out of cleaner? Clogged? Pump not working? Could be a safety issue.
The bulb was free 99, but had an hour labor for correct tabular alignment.
Somebody… or maybe two somebodies can't park today…
I like the idea of being a "seasoned" citizen!
More than half the Sonatas i see on the road have either or both of these marker lights not working. You'd think there would be a recall on the sockets.
FOR SEVERAL MINUTES A CHALLENGING BATTLE OF WITS WAS RIVETING BETWEEN THE ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND A NON-LIVING, UNINTELLIGENT PIECE OF PLASTIC (LIGHT BULB SOCKET). AS THE SOCKET HAS THE BATTLE ENDURANCE, IT WAS THE MECHANIC WHO ULTIMATELY WON THE CONTEST-YAY !!! LMAO
Good job Ray. A little hair on the hole next time might help but we have to keep the channel G rated. Have a great day
Im shocked!!! No brake cleaner to clean that under car shield 🤯
Good to know you dont recommend blinker fluid and muffler belts to us elderly folks 👍👍🤣
Bulbs are crazy. LOL
I would love to offer a constructive tip… Whenever you take those rear wipers off (even though you CAN break it free) and they're very rusty, just for the sake of not putting too much stress on the gear train or the very thin sheet metal mounts of the motor assembly, you should always use penetrating oil before loosening those wiper bolts. I specialize in small Japanese cars, and I can tell you it takes SHOCKINGLY little torque to at the very least bend or tweak the mounts for those rear wiper motors. It may not look like any damage was done, but you may have at the very least put additional strain by making the shaft of the wiper motor not align with the hole, hence more friction to work against and seals that can get worn down… Love you Ray, just my two cents for extra style points. 👍
I appreciate the compliment about looking good. In fact I may not look all that good, but I am satisfied, by watching your video, and also by pulling out and taking apart the Dana 80 rear axle out of my truck. Tomorrow it begins the rebuild. I never would have dared to try it, but for your inspiration – thanks again…
A video a day helps keeps Ray a happy YouTube king.
How many car mechanics does it take to change a lightbulb?
Whatever happened to replacing CV boots? why do you replace a whole axle for just a rubber boot are they not available any longer?
I come for the cheerful attitude, the humor, the silly playfulness, the nonstop energy to press forward to completing the job- also the analysis and strategy of your troubleshooting approach, and last but not least to see the the wrenches actually getting turned and stuff taken apart then put back together. Your positive attitude is contagious, and I always NEED more of that in my life; the technical material covered puts me in "the zone" where fascination induces learning, and I always WANT more of that in my life. So, when people ask me "why do you watch a car technician at work on You Tube?" I tell them it's simply a case of needs and wants.
I put clear spray paint on my tools to keep them from rusting.
Nissan quality 👌
I've noticed that a lot of your customers have DISGUSTING cars on the inside. Like….clean your shit. I hate when mine gets even a bit dusty lol….these are just awful
Its a Nissan lol
Hope your honesty rubs off on others
Time to go get some moar coffee, Ray!
“This will be free bc it was easy” * struggle is putting the bulb back in* charge 1/4H labor
Hyundi is the WORST on lights
Hey brother… How about a vid of you un-rusting your tools!
"it needs a socket" Like really? That's the first thing that comes to mind when the bulb works intermittently?
I would think corrosion and faulty connection and go from there, try to clean it out and fix the connection.
Glad you used the pick to pull the contacts up.This is what separates you from the rest.
Use a towel and wipe bulb. Grease from fingers will still affect all light bulb life span?
Nice opening thumbs down to high beam drivers lol.
I have a Nissan Tiida (that is the name of the Australian and other markets for the Nissan Versa). My top engine mount (torque rod) also needs replacing. It should arrive today. I also had a bugger of a time putting in the right rear stop/tail light holder in ha ha! The left rear went in okay, go figure.
The gearbox dip stick is to the right of the radiator cap, and quite low. It also does not have a coloured handle. Of course they may have deleted it for the USA market.
I do not have an option to turn off the Anti-skid (DSC), I saw a button on the one you wee working on that had this option. Different options for different markets depending on Federal & State laws in each country I guess.
People need to clean their cars
Did the window washer get checked out?
Tail light replacement. Fold tabs ABC into slots DEF. LOL
That damn AC water. WHEE WHO
Love your battery charger bank.
on the lightbulb… I feel your pain… I was struggling with radiator hose earlier today, gave up and put a little grease on the inside of the hose to get it to slip on easier…. wouldn't normally recommend that, but after an hour of trying all kinds of other ways, I just settled.
Your an honest guy. Good job
Ray, you did miss one critical issue with the Nissan. The oil fill cap was not oriented correctly. (I could not resist) Love the videos, take care.
Great job fixing the rear tail light bulb Curly! Roflmao
Sonata tail light Connectopr needs to be replaced or the copper contacts for the bulb has to be pulled out to make a solid connection same issue with my sonata and getting the bulb in is a pain.
Hi Ray, I see you have an x tool scanner. What do you think of it?
Anti seize on the wiper arm spline please?
@RainmanRay
Come on buddy i know you read these comments. What is the light kit …
