Customer Customer States Mechanic Fails Engine Transmission Gas Diesel off road race 4x4 street car daily driver scam dealership dealer technician how to

Hello everybody! Good day to you! Welcome back! Glad you guys are here! I Am super glad to be here. We are going to be returning to our 1999 Uh Ford Ranger XLT with a 3-liter V6 Customer stated that the wheel fell off uh while driving and uh, it did we. Uh, we checked this out and disassembled it in the last video. I've been on a parts hold for a few days because naturally collecting all these components for the front suspension is a little bit difficult on a 20-something year old truck.

But we have the delivery, The parts have arrived and we're gonna go ahead and get this thing uh, kind of reassembled and put back together and perhaps it will move again under its own power. Thank you! All right! I've got a Ford Motorcraft four-wheel drive front wheel bearing assembly. It does not come with the Hub so I'm gonna have to take that locking hub off the old bearing. Let me see it there it is.

I'll have to pull the locking hub off this old unit transferred over to the new unit. The new one has the well, it's got the bearing inside, there's an inner and outer bearing and then it's got this little pilot bearing in here which is what the CV axle is supposed to ride on. I have a replacement CV axle over there in the Box We had to change it out because this one has got a boatload of damage on it. Let's get a little bit of light on the subject.

We can see the Uh the splines are torn off at the end of this. CV axle. Uh, that happened when the wheel bearing assembly let go and the wheel started to fall off. Uh, it ended up being held on by just the brake caliper and the bracket.

The thing was running like stupid sideways and I guess while this thing was flopping around in there, it took some damage to the axle. We've also got a great deal of damage to the uh, the brake caliper bracket. You can see that this ear on the bracket is kind of bent in and folded outwards a little bit. or bent out and folded in.

or what are those words? This thing's bent right here. and after the Uh the event, it ended up pulling the threads for the bolts that bolt this bracket to the steering knuckle. It pulled them out, ripped them completely out of the bracket. Look at that thing.

bent sideways, stretched. there's a crack in it. Okay, so uh, over there in the parts pile. I've got a new rotor.

I've got a new caliper and bracket. We've got a new replacement. CV Axle I've got a wheel hub assembly. Um, the backing plate.

I Was not able to locate a backing place so we're gonna have to reassemble this without the splash plate. It is what it is again 20 something year old truck. Other than having a little bit of rotor on the brakes, if you're driving through puddles I Think this thing will be okay without that backing plate Again, we're just trying to piece this back together with Uh without spending a fortune or totaling the truck. So let's go ahead and get back to it.

Let's get these parts unboxed, wheeled on over here and we'll start the reassembly process. So stay tuned because this is going to be a very good video opening. Z Hood this is our brake rotor. There was a great Rudder Alrighty, So one of the first things I need to do here to get started is finish removing the CV axle right here.
it's running into the differential right back there. and I think if I just get behind it with this pry bar I can pop the thing out. That's that's pretty easy. Yeah, it's gonna come out unless it's hitting the shock absorber and I'll have to pull the shock off.

Yeah, you don't know I didn't want to do that. Yeah, the shock absorbers got a hold of it. so I might have to unbolt that thing harder than I thought it was going to be. Maybe I'll keep prying that and see if I can't squeeze the thing out.

If it comes out, then that's great and if not, then well, I'll disassemble more components I suppose I think I can squeeze it through. Is it coming out? Well, it's kind of close to coming out. We get this. Uh yeah.

I think it'll come out if it does. The question is going to be next is can I get the Uh the new one in? Maybe maybe not. come here. Got her there.

It is all right. Just the same as I snuck that old one out. Let's get this new unit in position here as long as I can get that inner joint past. Yeah, this one's a little bit smaller.

That's gonna go in nicely. I think almost. Maybe Yeah I can't really get a sometimes you can. There you go.

Just like that, you just kind of tap the axle with the axle and it'll push the clip back in and it'll seat so that thing's fully now engaged in. the differential. Axle replacement is a success now. Normally I would go ahead and get the Uh, the steering knuckle hung and reinstalled and put back on its ball joints.

However, I forgot to order this seal right inside of here. See that guy right there? It's designed to keep dirt and water and whatnot out of the uh, the locking mechanism inside of the bearing and I forgot to order that so that thing's on the way. so I will be able to do any more assembly until I get that new seal. However, I can go ahead and switch over the brake caliper and get all that stuff prepped and ready to go.

I do have a caliper with a bracket Over Yonder So let's uh, let's pop these pads out of here because I'll reuse those pads and come here pad. and then we can get that other caliper unboxed and assemble and then get the hose switched over. see I Think you have a plan and then you don't have a plan. That's the non-plan plan in action.

There you go. Brake pad removed. Set that aside. We're gonna kind of cruise through this brake work rather quickly.

Let's check the part. Let's see the bleeder screw is going to be at the top when things bolted on, so this is the correct part. All I need to do here is pop this guy off. We'll get to the uh, the shims and everything installed.
and then we'll slide those uh Slide the pads into this new caliper assembly here and get that guy bolted in. Snap that on. There we go. and then we've got one shim.

just gonna go over here. and the other shapes and colors. right? Oh, and gravity. Oh shapes, colors of gravity.

That one in good. A little bit of Lube on these pins. Yes, I Understand that the slide pins on the calipers do have lubricant on them, but I like my purple Lube So that's what I'm going to use there. We go watch this.

We'll slide that back together. now. The caliper is reseeded with its bracket and take our pad. slip that thing down into the shims.

We'll do that on both sides. Get on there please. I've got to push down that little spring thing as well. See that Spring right there on the caliper that has to be pushed down.

Hope I can do this? Uh, off the car I Might have to take it apart. See, give it a push. Get in there. almost.

Come on. you can't get it past that. uh, that shim. Everything is a hammer.

so we'll push the pad back. it's now seating against the Pistons and we can put the outboard pad in next and then get this thing hung up and then bolt it on all right outboard pad. Let's slip this thing in again into the bracket. I've got to depress that little clip that's in the caliper and then this caliper assembly will be loaded.

There we go now. I Know what you're thinking: Why don't I change the caliper and the rotor on both sides? Because this is going to be a budget repair. so we're getting. We're doing this with as minimal Parts as possible.

Yes, in an Ideal World I Would want to change both calipers and both rotors and put a set of pads in it and put hoses on both of those, but that's going to be exceedingly expensive considering the situation here. and uh, so we're trying to avoid running cost up as much as possible I Don't like it, but that's kind of the way it's got to be on this particular repair. I mean I Kind of can't believe I Have to say that you know I'm not ignorant I do know better and Believe Me by all means I would love to sell more parts, but you got you can't always do that. Not always I mean sometimes you can, but not all the time.

This is not one of those times that way there we go. all right. So what I need to do is just zip that thing out with a gun and transfer this hose over to the new caliper same orientation and then we can re-hang it back up now. I Would like to prevent a bunch of brake fluid from running out so we're gonna screw this little clamp onto the hose somewhere.

Probably here is best and that's just going to clamp off this uh caliper hose and prevent all the fluid from running out. These are specifically made just for caliper hoses. They've got a curved face right here and that pin face is also curved so it doesn't put like a pinch on the hose clamp pickage. All right.
All right, let's go ahead and disconnect this guy that's a 14 millimeter. This is a banjo bolt. It's a bolt that is Hollow in the center and it allows fluid to pass through that hole that's drilled in it so the fluid can go through the hole past the center and that's how it can transfer from this little manifold block thing into the caliper itself. So I'm gonna switch out and replace these Crush washers.

They are copper making the same orientation. We'll pull the caliper down, move that out of the way. then without dropping everything. stay bro.

We'll bring the count new caliper back up. pull the plug out. This actually might be a banjo. You'll see it the mirror.

Bolt Oh yeah, yeah, that's a new one. Saved it. Come here. Yeah, that's a new one.

So I'll just trade this out with the new one. There we go. keeping the same orientation. careful not to twist the hose.

flickage all right. Take our clamp back off, let this caliper fill up with some, uh, some brake fluid. Alrighty. I Have acquired a replacement seal so we need to go ahead and drive this seal out of the knuckle that.

I Think it's supposed to go that way? I'm going to try going that way first. If that doesn't work, we'll flip it around and drive it out this way. Yeah. I think it goes.

Maybe not. Is that metal? No, that's just part of the seal. Yeah, we're gonna try that way first. see how it works out? No.

I don't know. Let's just see what happens here. It's moving. Yep, okay.

it goes out that way. at least. Uh, that's how it's going to be. Show: Let's get that new seal in position.

Hammer it down. I'll have to find a big socket or something to get a hold of this to help drive it in or use the old seal. There we go. It's an error, air or in judgment.

No worries, we'll pry that back out before it turns into a problem there. I'll use the flat side of the Chisel that'll run it in good more I See much more Ah that's pretty good. It's like 97 where I want it? Got it good. Now here's the cool part.

Remember that mangled sealer retainer that was in the back I Uh, took some pliers and attempted to unmangle it. So now I can get this thing back, installed or reinstalled. I'm trying to put this back together as much as possible I was not able to locate a replacement seal retainer Sue It looks like the unmangled version is how it's got to be a couple forward. Clips here.

Yeah, that's about as good as that's going to get there. we go. So I've got access to the bolts again and this thing is now in position. Alrighty coming in.

Now it's time for the interesting part. Let's uh, let's get this knuckle back on. and I need to slip the ball joint here into the bottom of the knuckle and then we'll get that sort of fastened on. I'm not sure the order of operations here through the axle.

they mend the ball joint. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. okay. so I'll screw that ball in.
Get on there. Please go going in with the 27 mil. let's tighten up. Oh, grab me.

let's tighten up that axle or ball joint nut. All right. That's going to draw this knuckle upwards and we have an issue here. Things been turned up on the torsion bars.

Those are actually the Springs They're like a twisted spring. It's been turned up so much that can't get proper alignment set up here. see: I don't have the space to get the axle to reach the knuckle. so I either need to put a floor jack under this and bring the front of this up.

or well, yeah. I think that's what I'm gonna have to do I just need to floor jack the bottom of this. uh, control arm here to bring it up and that's going to swing this assembly towards the center line and then I can get this axle lined up properly. I think I'm gonna have to do it like that.

Okay, exactly how I intended this to go. just I Don't really like that idea because this truck is already kind of racked up A little strange as it is because of its lifted configuration and uh, which particular rack we're on. plus how we had to set it up. it's sort of.

It's almost like got the Carolina squat to it. Um, yeah, you know what. I think I'll put this right here and then I'll let the truck down some that way we have wheels closer to the ground so it's more stable. Yeah, let's just try that locks disengaged.

Let's bring her down some for safety coming down, coming down, coming down. there we go. Okay yeah, my concern is is putting too much up pressure on this corner of the truck and then the thing Falls over off the rack. So I'm just gonna make it.

so if it does fall off the rack, you won't fall anywhere. That's probably that's probably the safest option here. I don't need so much working ride height anyway. Okay, so back wheels are on the ground and looks like the nut is starting to disconnect from the rear.

So only we've only got the uh, the front lift here holding things up or the front lift arms. rather, that's good. Now let's see if I can't get this, uh, this, uh, control arm to turn. Yeah, those torsion arms have been cranked all the way up.

Sketch-o-matic It's okay, it can't fall that far. see how we're coming up a little bit on that arm? It's not dramatic, but it is coming up and now we're picking. I think we're picking the truck up off the lift arm over here so with the spindle raised up, some in the axle somewhat in position I Want to get uh I want to get this caliper out of the way? We'll just hang that off to the side if I can if I can manage it here. Hmm, not much to hang off of really, but I don't want to let that I don't want the thing to dangle off of the hose either.

There there we go. we'll split the weight. Okay So we've got uh, the axle and the knuckling position here. Let's get this upper ball joint in and that's going to tie.
Get in there, tie everything together. Get that guy. Down In the Hole We need a little bit more down action. There we go.

Oh, that's Sketching Attic. There's our bolt. So now this upper control arm and upper ball joint is locked in. the axle's in position.

here. the knuckle's locked in. So now we can get that bearing slipped over top of it and then get that guy bolted on. Okay, now I know that I said that I could not find a replacement backing plate for that, but we actually have a backing plate.

It's the one that came off of it and I kind of went to work at it a little bit with the hammer and a block of wood and straightened it out some. So I'm going to attempt to reuse this. uh, this. Shield right here.

As long as it doesn't touch anything and make a bunch of noise, it should be okay. I mean I guess Worst case scenario here is that I've got to take it off. so I'm gonna at least try it. and then if that doesn't work, then, well, it doesn't work.

But I can bend it enough to, uh, at least make it fit and then bend the bent Parts out of the way so we're gonna. We're just gonna go with that because again, it's better than no backing plate, plugins and things all it's ruined. It's bent up pretty bad, but you know, like this area here I think I can bend that back. Um, nothing over here is going to really touch anything if it touches the rotor.

I could just bend it back Some you know. The point is, it's just got to stay off of. uh, it's just gonna stay off the brake rotor and it should be fine. There we go.

Okay now. Bill Bearing in position here. see how this is gonna work out? I Have gone ahead and removed the wheel speed sensor on this unit just to, uh, try to make this installation a little bit easier. Believe that it went that way because it can't really go any other way.

I may have to pull it back in, plate off one more time just to get that that unit back on and then run the wire behind it and under it and through because it's got to come through like right over here. Anyway, let's get the uh, let's get these bolts in reaching around from the back side here. we'll get them started and torque down some. See how this is going to work out with uh with that mangled little Shield Plate thing back there.

All right? Well, we can see that at least right here. I can't get that bolt past uh I can't get it past that little Shield So I'm gonna try to bend that thing out of the way. Some let me get at least one of these in I've got to bend that little Shield out of the way to get the bolt head past it. uh I will try that with just some pry bar action here.

Again, the whole thing's been bent and mangled so if I gotta bend it more then that's fine I just need it to not make noise. pry hammer. All right coming in 15 mil. Let's just see if we can't thread past that.
get on there. see that threaded right past it? Let's get the top one in a little bit here. We're not going to tighten them yet because I have to get one more in on the other side. Let's turn this thing around and as long as we can get the threads past that that little Shield thing and I should be able to put some torque on this bearing and then we can bend that Shield accordingly to keep it on there.

And it's not a super critical component, but it goes there. Pickage all right. Nothing's pinched in that that's good. Okay, where's Muter Inch? Put some torque action on this unit.

Oh, there we go. All of them. Okay, that's one that's tight For sure it's been. uh, spin this thing over, get those other two tightened down and do that one by hand.

How about that? Pretty tight clearance is in there, that's for sure. I can barely get the wrench on it without bending that little uh, what you call it a little Shield thing. There's our bar now. I'll take Edge a little more.

Okay, that one's tight. Come off and let's get some torque on this upper bolt right here and that bearing will be uh, secured. Maximum Security I'm glad I didn't have to replace these bolts because they, uh, they did not exist I was looking. Oh, there we go.

That's good. Okay, that all appears to be in good working order. I don't think it's rubbing. Okay, not bad, not too bad at all.

All right, let's bag up some more here and I'm gonna fetch the rotor. we're gonna Bend this backing plate out a little bit more and then we can get that Hub transferred over and I think we're uh, we're gonna be in good shape. Alrighty up front. on the Hub side.

I Want to get a little bit of grease in there on those splines? We're not going to load it up, but we do need some lubricants in there, so about a quarter or a half dollar sized bit of Grease smeared around that should be sufficient for spline lubrication. There we go and I'll put the remainder inside of the Hub Locker right here. All right. This thing just kind of snaps over the little lip.

That's uh, on uh, there we go. Okay, so now we're locked. see that it's turning the axle, see the axle turn in there and unlock. and now the axle's free.

so that's all in good working order. Good to go all right now. let's see what we can do about getting this rotor fitted a little bit. Gotta I need to bend some of this backing plate back because it's still a little folded here and I'll probably have to get after it with some pliers.

but I'm gonna fit the rotor next again. it's a new rotor. Just make sure that's got clearanced. Yeah, see that it's rubbing over here.

Can't have that shoe more bending. Thank you Hammer that guy back. It might be ugly, but it's gonna work I Hope it's gonna work. Adventure yeah we're getting closer.

It's flared out at the top up here in a couple other spots. Let's uh, do the crescent wrench method here. send that guy out that's not working there. That worked.
Yeah everything is a hammer. okay right here and a little bit right here. this is the nasty spot. that's where it was all folded up.

next on raised metal working show like oh my God What a hack job I Can't believe you put that on the internet. Terrible. and we need a little bit more down at the bottom to get it away from the base of the rotor. Bottom section: Gravity has a flashlight down.

good for one. Every video that flashlight event I'm in too far now. I've got to succeed on this. Cannot let it defeat me right here.

Pretty close. All righty. So I think I got it. About as good as it's gonna get now.

I need to pull this plate back off and get that wheel speed sensor reinstalled on the bearing. So I was gonna do the one Bolt whatever's left of it. we'll pull that away and I'll slip the wheel speed sensor in behind. You know what? that's that was? silly.

Two bolts, three bolts. I'm just taking it back off. mostly. there we go there.

that was gonna be difficult and silly and I wasn't gonna I wasn't gonna get very far with what I was just doing. we'll take it back off more work path of least resistance. So here let's take our plate, put it back on, and make sure it doesn't pinch the Uh The Wire and I think the wire routing looks good. Let's go up top next to that little vacuum hose.

that's where that's going to go and we'll get the uh little bolts back in each day. Stay stay stay stay safe. Here we go. Bottom bolt all the way off to the right.

Let's get that one in pickage twice and Thrice so that's good. Give it back. Okay, one more test fit on that on that rotor. no scrubbing.

We have clearance and excellent. Okay, so we'll take our hose or uh, our wheel speed sensor wire. I'm just going to stick this off to the side. for now.

we can run that later because next: I Want to get the caliper reassembled. Oh, we also need to get the nut on that bolt for the upper ball joint too. Can't forget that failing to secure the Nut could result in loss of upper control arm and then the wheels will fall off again. We'll be in the same bolt.

Same boat, same boat. Bowl I Want to do that. Hold the other side linkages. Good to go.

Upper ball joint is secure. Let us hit our caliper reinstalled and as I said earlier, by some type of miracle, I was able to get replacement bolts for these caliper brackets. The store actually had that stuff in stock. Would be crazy.

Anyway, without twisting the hose, let's get this lined up and we'll slip our pads over our rotor and we can get these bolts in position here through the knuckle and into the nice brand new holes in this caliper bracket. Come here, please become aligned. There we go. That one started.

Let's get the bottom one. That one in wonderful. Let's get some torque on these bad boys. The bottom one all right looking good.
It is going back together. Check it out. Not too shabby says that. all right We're making really good progress here.

I Went ahead and I ran the wheel speed sensor line and connected it. I did that while you guys weren't looking. It was, uh, somewhat meticulous and kind of boring like. so I figured I would just skip that part.

Any wazers? let's go ahead and get our uh, our tie rod back in in position here. Get in there tie rod please. It's not listening to me. probably because I got this little Shield thing all bent in the way here I guess I need to flex it and bend it back.

make that go into its home there. Come on. I guess I have to blend it out and then bend it back again. Okay, it's fully custom.

It's a custom job. The whole job's custom here. We'll give it a push and some down. Yeah, usually I don't have to hammer in tie rods, but this is a special circumstance here.

so hammer tie rods nice out. That's how it's going to be. Get this guy tight, put some clicks on there cotter pin it and I'm gonna need to bend this thing back out again away from the rotor out of here. Hammer My there we go.

Okay, that fits. again. good. let's see if she's busy.

darling. Can I have your assistance please I Need your foot I Need your foot Please bring your foot. Thank you Okie Dokes What I need you to do is hop up in this. Hereford You're gonna turn the steering wheel to the right a couple turns and then uh I need you to pump the brake pedal three times and then hold it.

and I gotta open the bleeder down at the uh, the caliper there and then Purge all the air out of that caliper. Got it here? Allow me. Oh thanks. You're back up.

Back up. back up. There's a thing there I know I Just all right. Climb on in.

CH Step there you go. Good job All right. Turn the wheel. uh to the right please.

I'll tell you if you gotta stop. keep going to the right. Oh, turn the key s off. There you go.

now. turn it. give it a miss. All right.

Go ahead. Uh. pump the pedal up please. Like three pumps I have the wrong size hang on standby, wrong tools.

again. let's try this one. They're gonna work. Yes, it is okay.

Go ahead and pump it up and hold it. Keep going. It's all the way down. Hold it okay.

Let it up. Push it down. hold it. Get locked in that time.

Okay, let it up. Push it down. Yeah, it's starting to work. We're getting there.

there. We go. Okay. Pump it three times.

One two, three. hold it. there's some air. Pump it up.

Yep. Pump it three times and hold it. Tell me when you're holding. Okay, okay.

let it up, pump it. and hold it. Very good. Still getting some air one more time.

Pump It Up Nice. You can tell when she's holding it because it flexes the hose one more time. Holding good. Okay, that's pretty good.
Seems to be air free. All right. Thank you. You can hop on out.

Appreciate you turn it off. Yeah, you can turn it off. Is that good? Good? Thank you. Okie dokes.

So I got the uh, the tie rod and the ball joint down there. Cotter Keyed. Uh, we've got a bunch of, uh, some brake fluid here and some, uh, some hand prints or whatever. so we need to get all this stuff washed off.

I Got the big can. Check it out. It's larger than the regular side stand. It's the pro grade.

Great clean can for extra shiny. Get all this fingerprints and nasty off of here. Clean this guy out. Get that out of there.

good to go nasty. Clean the floor off too. Okay. remove that stuff.

stinks all right. Back it up for some air. I'm gonna let this thing down. We can go ahead and get the uh, the wheel bolted back onto it and then, uh, we'll take it out on the road and see how it runs.

For drives Or runs and drives. You know what? I mean It's Not Over Yonder Dude. All right. 33 inch, 1350 by 16 tire.

It's a lot of tire ever. So little bits of tread. It's got more tire than it does treading that's not okay. Maybe smaller tires and bigger tread there? Let's put that on.

Dude. All right. lug nuts coming in. Now if you recall from the first episode, this thing came in with, uh, only four lug nuts.

There's also only four on the other side. The the owner is aware that they are lacking in the nut Department and that they need to remedy their lack of nuts situations. They're gonna take care of that I don't have to worry about their nuts. We're gonna do that all on their own.

Gonna make sure I bolt this thing on foreign. There we go. All right. straighten this thing out which I can't.

Steering wheel is locked. Okay, let's back it up. We'll let this thing down and uh, we're going to roll it out and take it out of the row ad and catch my Jack Get that out of here. Yeah Kilos, We're missing a nut and a stud on that side.

All right forward. Ranger Coming down off the locks all the way down, we are loose and it's held up by its own wheel. Once again, awesome. Needs a wheel alignment? guaranteed.

guaranteed. Needs a wheel alignment. Okay, now let's go ahead and give it a reach on in here and let us start things the engine. We have yet to do such things.

ring ring on our Ranger with 109 742 miles on the odometer here, that's good. Steers left, steers right. Okey-dokes It's loud. All right.

Let's clear the rack and take this thing out on the road and see if it's gonna run and drive and move forward. You need some tires. My dude need new tires. These are that's not okay.

You can't do that. Those are off-road tires, not racing slicks. All I know he's got off-road racing slicks. That's what it is.

That's what we got going on here. Off-road racing snakes all right. and Gatorade AC is cold. This is good.
those in England closes the door. Oh a cute little horn. Loud noises I'm not turning that on. No thanks.

All right pulling her out. Oh cool. look at this. Hang on.

It's got these little hood lights up in the front. right there we go. Hey, are the lights on? Is that is that what this does? He turns the lights on. Yeah, they're on.

Oh, that's cool. Bye All right, let's go. Uh, we're gonna give this a once around the block as long as the wheel stays on. I'm good with it.

We'll be able to go ahead and get out of here I Want to give it a couple break events. Uh, burnish that front rotor in and make sure it doesn't steer or pull when braking. There we go. that wheel's still hanging in all right danger.

Ranger Okay, waiting for traffic. We've got wheel bolts. We've got lower ball joint, upper ball joint, caliper brackets uh ABS slash wheel speed sensor wires see the locking hub is in place. The axle has been changed.

okay. I'm just going through the list of stuff that I did to make sure everything that I did it was done to the best of my ability to do it. It is loud in this thing. I guess the Mufflers cut off of it and I can't hear myself think so I don't know if it's making any weird noises or not because it's really too loud to tell.

Hmm yeah. brakes kind of feel like crap. pedals, pedals real soft on it. It's either still has air in it or it has some kind of, uh, some kind of other issue.

We're gonna drive it on top off the master cylinder. We'll bleed it one more time and then, uh, if it still has a pull. I Will advise that future repairs must be required, but that will complete. Uh, the operation that we have set out to complete which was mixing wheel stay back on it.

So that being said, think we're good to go. I'm gonna go ahead and sign out of this video right now I Will do such things as always by pulling out of traffic. As always, hope you enjoyed this video. If you did enjoy this video, you know the drill.

Please feel free to let me know about that in the comments section down below. Don't forget to drop that like button while you're down there. And most importantly, do Not forget to have yourselves a great day. See you guys later in the video and deferred end of wheel falling off into transmission.

It's wheel alignment alignment. Sure Yeah, this thing's scary. It's scary to drive stops and it goes so loud there we go. Put that mirror back where it goes.

Hey look. the audio system can hear feedback from the alternator. Watch this. We put a load on the engine and it slows down the engine speed which slows down the alternator and the speakers are telling us to change and pitch.

Electronical feedback. Parking is the auto. So I know we're doing this in a weird, uh, kind of a weird order, but we skipped out on it earlier so I'm just gonna do it right now. We are going to of course pop and see Hood Gotta get it in there at some point, right? You didn't do it at the beginning.
Oh what do we got in here? Oh my God it's ruined O'reilly's great! Food to the rescue Okay.

People should shuddyup. As a Ford Ranger owner (they went out of production [compact] in 2011) so finding parts can be a pain and NON wear items like bolts and backing plates are a scrap yard only part. IF theyre not rusted to shyt. I own alot of older cars (70-80s) and not popular cars so finding parts is like finding hens teeth. ebay doesnt always have it and automotive bolts are not home depot bolts. Even my 98 Mercury Grand Marquis's parts are getting scarce. I love that Ray knows that youre supposed to replace parts in pairs but is mindful of a customers wallet.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Leon Hart says:

On parts you can't find at a parts store you can find them at a salvage yard. Things like those bearing bolts, seal retainer, dust cover and such.
If you have a you pull it yard it may take pulling the parts you are after to find good parts. Things like bolts sometimes don't come out as usable. You might to want picking up extra bolts and such just to keep on hand.
There are other things that can be handy to keep around. Things like relays, lug nuts are things I collect when at the yard. They don't cost much and can save you a lot of time searching for them when you need it.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dirtyaznstyle says:

I don’t find it hard to find parts it’ll just take a few days for shipping. Gotta love the 10.9 bolts they use in the brakes, interesting those caliper pins didn’t have the rubber sleeve on one of em. You need a few cinder blocks to make a stand for those brake components to sit on

I did the same as you with the Subaru, extractor broke off in the block of a Nissan Sentra, I bought $300 worth of drill bits to drill it out and spent almost 4 days drilling on it. My step father was a machinist and he said “how do you sharpen a tool steel bit? With a stone” I bought a stone for my Dremel and had ground through the extractor in about 30 seconds. You can do it and save money.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris Hebert says:

Truck owner should spend the money saved on repairs on new tires. I'd hate to be on the road near that truck in the rain. Many years ago, I was young and had no money. Let my tires get too worn. Went around a left turn on the loop around Houston at only 50 mph (raining). The highway was 4 lanes. I was on the inside lane. When I hit a patch of water I slid all the way into the far right lane. Fortunately, there were no cars around me. I purchased new tires shortly after that episode, and I never drive on worn tires. It's not worth it.

  51. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gary Hill says:

You forgot the C- Clip that held the C/V axel into the bearing asy. Now of course you're not the first one in there and it may not have been there to start with? But I'm sure it's missing and it's one of them pain in the ars square C-Clips. That may be what took out the bearing asy!

Ray, I'm not ragging on you here, but it looked to me like a little file work on that axle could have saved it. You are the professional and I really like your videos. Just asking if that would have been an option to save a little more money? P.S. I'm happy to see you making it with your new shop.

  58. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars NeoMorph WTH says:

Ray should have had a look at the shield on the other side, taken a photo and reversed it horizontally… that would have given him an estimate as to how the shield should look pre-mangled.

The protection ring is a bolt keeper. Ideally you slide it up the shaft, insert the bolts, then pull the protection ring back in position.

  70. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joel A Peralez says:

Just advise in bill of repairs that you recomened both calipars& pads and rotors in the event that the pass side fails that refused any further repairs at this time . I had an issue and texas dept . Paid me a visit and lucky I documented a brake issue and cust had a major accident need I say more and that saved a major law suit.cause it was a semi truck that brakes failed.

Bombed out 20+ year old truck, with questionable maintenance, torn up tires, and a sound system that can be heard on Proxima Alpha. Yep, it a 'Murican truck.

  85. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Russell Styles says:

Disturbing number of parts not available for a truck that's not THAT old. Since the government CAFE standards prevent them from making trucks that aren't freakishly big, old trucks are necessary.

    I miss my manual XLT

  87. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Floodx4 says:
