Customer Customer States Mechanic Fails Engine Transmission Gas Diesel off road race 4x4 street car daily driver scam dealership dealer technician how to

Urgent breaking news and no, it's not the Corvette although that is a very nice looking Corvette Uh, we have somewhat of a Florida emergency Brewing uh I Guess what's happening? Uh, in the World At Large Today is there is a massive cold front coming down from Canadia and it's pushing all of the warm air outside of sunny. Florida And tomorrow morning it's going to be super cold. Like ridiculously cold. So we have to take action immediately in order to mitigate and survive the frigid upcoming winter temperatures.

Starting the engine, we need diesel fuel. That's right. We're going to solve this potential problem tomorrow by burning diesel. So there's a phenomenon in Florida that when it's hurricane season, everybody runs out real quick and they buy up all the generators that way.

if power goes down for a day or two, people have a generator so folks don't plan ahead. they just happen to just they go out in Black Friday generators I guess and they just do that every time there's hurricane out there. So uh I have taken action preemptively to prevent frostbite I went and uh ordered from Home Depot Land one of the uh, what what do they call them? It's not a not a butane, it's a diesel kerosene SL propane Tri fuel electric fired heater and I'm going to gas it up or fuel it up. We're going to fill full some Diesel power it up and test it out.

Uh I have already taken the thing out of the box. Uh, it was fairly simple. You take the take the box off and put the wheels on. So uh, we're going to go ahead and get some fuel prepared and I'm going to fill up this heater and we're going to test it out that way tomorrow morning when we come to work.

If it's cold outside, uh, we can maintain some level of comfortability in the shop. By the way, this is going to be a a quick video powering down. sort of a a break from my normul style of content. My door panel's gone.

That door panel is not gone. That one's shiny. but uh, hopefully I can entertain you. Nothing nonetheless.

Little black Corvette Yep, there's the heater unit. It's the Mr Heater it's a contractor series. Like I said, it's Diesel and electric fired. It turns on with electricity and then uses diesel to create the British thermal units or BTUs hey, real quick before I fuel this thing up and fire it up I Want to do something? Whoa.

how'd that happened I Want to do some maintenance on my fuel transfer system that has never been done before. I've got a new particulate filter here. It's for fuel tanks and transfer pumps and whatnot. and I'm going to change that real fast because this filter has been on this pump assembly since I installed it, which has been a couple of years.

So since we're here, it would probably be beneficial for me to go ahead and change out this filter. Well, you know what towel? I'm going to need a tow tow will that will prevent spillages. There we go. Well, it won't prevent spillages, but it'll keep me from having, uh, diesel saturated everything.
Hopefully this is the right filter. You can see this one is larger than this one. here. there's some fuel and I don't think that's going to fit.

Yeah, not a chance. look at that. the holes are the wrong ho size. Okay, well this will fit later.

but I might have to change like this manifold or whatever. Oh, that was an error. Sucks too cuz I bought this filter at the same Tractor Supply where I bought this pump. I'm wondering why they don't fit all right? well.

scratch that plan. sorry for wasting you guys' time. I Just uh showed you a video about not changing a fuel filter. Yay! Well since we're not changing the filter I guess I can go ahead and get this thing prepped and set up to be refilled.

I think I'll fill my truck up too I think the uh, the Tank's a little bit l So what? I've got to do here? Grab this guy and we got to reach. Climb up here, grab the neck, flip on. the juice pump is running now we can refill. See this wasn't a stupid idea after all.

Fill it on up, let it ride. there we go. This is lime flavored. It's even got a little gas gauge.

Check that out all the way up. H The gauge is not moving yet. Oh there it goes. It's starting to bounce I wonder if this is like a two or three gallon tank? How much is in here? I Can see the fuel.

We're almost full I Know shame on me for not running cherry flavored I know I paid taxes on this fuel I Feel bad. Nearly there. We're about at the top and the gauge says we're uh, coming up on fullness. Done.

Beautiful. All right. That guy is full here. Let's fill the truck up, set it, and forget it.

So now we'll take this guy, run this thing inside and we'll put some power to the electrical connector and fire it up and see if it runs. I Think it will. Oh it's heavy. Now that it's got gas in it, it's got a bunch of gas in it.

Plug it in, plug it in. Do it twice. Do it. Nice.

There we go. Okay, we have a pressure gauge. What else do we have here? See on Switch. Look at that.

Cheapo switch. Very cheap. What's this? Do this heater automatically controlled and may start any time. Okay, okay, so we set the temperature.

Do not burn down the Corvette Do it make heat? Oh yeah. Okay, yeah, that's hot. Dang, that's really hot I can't even touch my hand. Okay, let's go ahead and turn you off I Think we're good.

Okay, the thing works. Proof of concept. Complete disconnecting and powering down. Did I turn off the switch? No I didn't let's check the fuel tank in the truck.

Oh it just finished I think nope still going I wonder if I'm low on fuel in the tank? It sounds like the Tank's running out. Let's see, we'll go in there with a flash light and Visually identify our fuel level. look my. Auto Stop did not stop I think I just broke it.

Okay yeah, oops I need to put that on a like a toggle switch or something one day. maybe rig this so it stays all the way on and then run a relay in the Box here that will just Supply power to this when that relay kicks over. So this will always be on cuz it's kind of a pain in the butt to come up here and uh and flip this thing on and off I dis like it here. let's see what's left in our tank.
Oh yeah yeah yeah, it's pretty low. it's lower than I thought it was I thought I had uh thought I had more fuel in there than that. Thought this was full actually hope I didn't get robbed. that was a lot of fuel.

Anyway, that's good. the truck is full and I probably got about 10 gallons left in this tank after the five or six or whatever that I put in that tank. But yeah, cool beans. that thing works over there.

That means tomorrow. uh, won't be a wash I won't be sitting around freezing unable to complete my my tasks and assignments. So I'm going to call that a a positive and a win for the day. Flamable.

All right guys. Heater is fixed. Proof of concept Complete! I'm all done here. See you guys later.

Thank you for watching this short video in a day in a video in a transmission. Thanks for watching. Have a great day! Say bye Dave Bye.

I have a heater similar to this, 150K BTU. Worked great when I lived up north. It would heat my garage from 10° to 60° in about 10 mins. Smelled like the airport though.

Nothing like starting up a space heater, while only 8 feet away, you're pumping fuel into a truck. What could possibly happen? 🤔🤨

Picturing you having a power failure tomorrow morning,
and having to run the generator, to power the heater,
while you try to find a 'still powered' gas station to refill your pump tank,
'cuz you put all the fuel in the truck tank already.🤨

Was working on a truck and had to have my bay door open in 15 degree weather. Was running my propane heater for sure. Quite windy and wind chills in the single digits. On the other hand, I would probably melt in your highs. Im gonna be adding a propane forge to make knives and swords in the next couple months, so 1800 degrees should help to heat things up.

hi Ray. I was wondering if you can get red diesel over there in America that it usually used in things like tracters, stand alone diesel generators, etc instead of using normal road diesel because we have two main types in the UK, the red "rebated" diesel that is used for tractors and other stuff and generators and heaters like that one you have and it is usually cheaper thannthe blue diesel???

It clearly says on those heaters for outdoor use only. If you read the instructions you wont die. Carbon monoxide poisoning is the real deal. they are in no way intended for indoor use.

  74. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @hansjansen7047 says:

Many comments already say this but it bears repeating. Make sure you have ventilation, to blow out the carbon monoxide.

  75. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars @wellseverett5128 says:

Haha. So get a CO detector. Probably a big mistake using diesel. It will stink up your garage. White kerosene is the best. Ask me how I know. Biggest mistake will be using offroad diesel. It will run you out of the shop! And will take forever to clean it out of the tank.
On a brighter note. If you have a stack of aluminum wheels. Do like I do and put a few 2 high, 3 or so feet in front of the heater to soak up and radiate heat after the thermostat shuts it off. Your shop is big enough and vented that CO shouldn't be an issue.
Beware of the slightest headache. Leave a door cracked open a touch.
Diesel in these really sucks. Fine in an open barn working on the tractor in sub-zero temps. though.
