Hello Everybody! Good day to you and welcome back! We are returning to the Part Two episode of our Infiniti G37 Correction, it's actually a G37S on this particular unit. Uh, in the last video, we had the rear end apart and the differential was removed in order to replace the bushings that go inside of the crossmember of the rear end. This video is going to be the part Two of that particular repair. If this doesn't work I don't know what to do, might have to actually get the uh a regular OE bushing cuz that has the metal and it's not going to deform trying to press the unit in.
That's what I'm afraid of here. Okay, let's tighten that uh Fastener a little bit. Is it working? I think this is working hings the hood. Here's our brake rotor.
There was our break rotor. Is this working or am I in it? Yes, it's uh, about both. It can be both. Let's back it off some.
Yeah, it's going in. Oh man, my light died again. Let's uh, do one more full send on this. We need like a quarter of an inch.
a wrong quarter of an inch wrong way. I Think it's it's in. Yeah, yeah, we're We're real close now. Very very close.
This is, uh, this is good. What I'm doing is moving this around ever so slightly just to concentrate the Press effort. a little bit up high. Oh too.
I Want to do that. Squeeze it out. Move it up high again. Oh man, it's so so close.
So amazingly very close. Let's take the tool apart once more. Maybe try to pull it from the center one last time. so thread, put a rod back in, set up all the uh oh.
Here you know what. Got another piece little spacer here. Save us a little bit of time in threading and unthreading. it's not moving.
We're so close. So very close, yet so far away. Get tired of dropping stuff? Bend down. Pick it up.
Bend down. Pick it up. Bend Bend down. Pick it up.
Bend down. Pick it up all day long. I Want to hose clamp this once more, making sure there's none of the none of that, uh, rubber is exposed. I Think that's about right.
that hose clamp's a little loose. It's happening. This is ridiculous. Never doing this job again.
Yeah, now we're going going some more. Good. Oh yeah, it is pulling it through. We are moving and this hose clamp is flush with the metal.
Which means we're not squeezing that bushing and damaging it. Good, good, good, good. Oh I See a little bit poking out up top. Time to stop, regroup and do it again.
Back it off. We are so incredibly close to getting this on. It's like right there. if we didn't just get it I might have just gotten it.
gotten it in. Is it in yet? Ooh a little bit farther up top. a little bit more up here, not squeezing out. Let's SC of that clamp.
I See, no bushing material up here. It's in there, but it's slightly off center. Sucks. Yeah, we're so close, but it's a little bit sideways.
What we can do: I'm going to shim this right here with just this little piece of metal. That way it only pulls from the top and then we'll do one more pull with the impact. and if that doesn't draw it in even then. I I don't know what else will cuz there's no going back and no taking this out and trying again there. let's try that. So this should make this, uh, little assembly thing, walk sideways just a wee bit. see that it didn't really work. Kind of worked, but not not really.
All right. How close are we eigh of an inch off? Okay, okay. next attack attempt again. I'm going to use this little half uh, half cone that goes to ball joint kit and try to only press on the top of this unit this pushing and make an attempt to straighten this thing out.
You like that? We'll try it like that and see what happens next. This should work right? Sure, it's totally going to work. It has to I Frustrated. So we're just going to get these bushings out instead.
This will be easier. Look at that there. That's an easy one. Yeah, got to make some kind of progress here.
And since I'm behind on that I might as well just catch up on this. then I can at least feel better about the total progression so far. Need to take a break and think rethink my life on that other bushing. Yeah, these ones are no problem.
Air hammer. You get up under it. Air hammer my finger. There we go.
Got up for for going into it. Walk it right out. Yeah, that was easy. Hooray! Yeah, then the new ones.
They just kind of go right in. no problem. Look at that. That was.
That's fantastic. That's what we want to do there. All right. Back to repeating the same action over and over and over again, expecting different results.
Let's keep doing this. Got a big washer shimming this up so it comes in sideways. That's all we get. There's no other.
there just ain't no way. That's all we get. Ain't no way. I say ain't is not a good word to say.
but I say there ain't no way and maybe it moves some I'll just keep repeating getting noodle arm too something. Oh, almost killed you guys Ni let's switch it out to a smaller piece of thinner metal. again. Okay, well.
we're down to a 16th of an inch off. Uh, that's it. We're not going to get any more out of it. That's that is what it is.
starting to break things and deform stuff so it's not exactly 1,000% perfectly straight. but that's how it's going to be. That's that's the way it's going in. So now that we, uh, got this guy in position, let's go get the Uh differential and get it back up into its home over here.
Woo! Okay, Dip's coming in Ran You guys over with a the flow. Jack Here, let's run this uh differential up after we turn it around the correct direction. Here there we go. Go and run it up.
Get it. Uh, over and around and through. like tying your shoes past this sway bar. And then we'll get the back peg this.
uh, this little bolt right here that goes through the bushing. We'll get that in and bolt it in. then. uh, reassemble this this thing. I Almost, uh, spoke disparagingly of it. Reassemble this unit. There we go. It's a fine piece of engineering.
Truly a fine example. Yes. now. get in there.
Tired of looking at you more up? H There's a sway bar in my way. Now It came out with this sway bar here. Why won't it? Go In what is this? Moving up some more? Yeah. I Can feel the back of the bushing where that bolt runs through a little bit higher up it's in line.
Pull it back there we go. That bolt is now inside of that bushing here. Let's get that nut, thread it down onto the bolt. It's actually more of a stud, but you all know what I'm talking about.
Or we can drop. Look at that. I Dropped it and stuck it on backwards. Get out of here.
No way. This is. this is silliness. Let me reach on the front of it, push it upwards.
There we go. We're threading good. Electron ratchet coming in. let's run that nut down.
Click. Very nice. Okay, so let's go around to the other side of the vehicle, the side of the diff rather diff rather words and we'll get. uh, we get those front bolts set up next.
Those threads are. get them lined up here and started. Go on in there. Please get in there.
Okay, those ones are started good. Where's my 17 okay wrench coming in? Let's get a couple threads. Uh, run down on this. Fastener Good now.
I Go ahead and drop the uh the lift out of here. make sure that's stay a and secure. Yep, go ahead and get the trans jack lowered down. goodbye trans jack.
Clear up my floor space and the other Fastener on the left side. Get that guy started. Sweet, that one's in good. Okay, 17 coming in.
let's get these front bolts tightened down or tightened up. The these ones are going up. That one fell out thought I had it click. Those bushings are in and the one out back.
that one's in as well. Okay, so now drive shaft is next, then the CV shafts and we'll do the sway bar and whatever else. uh comes up after that. Okay, so let's go around.
Let's go around this side here and we'll use a we'll get this drive shaft back in its home. I'm going to have to pull that carrier loose again to effectively shorten the shaft and then get the pilot shaft over the uh, the main shaft. Pull that down, put an angle in it, push it up, line it up, line it up more. it's not lined up.
H Still not lined up? There we go. Got it. Okay, pair of 14s good. Next is going to be the uh the bolts on the shaft yolk, which it is out of alignment as we speak.
Okay, fry driver yo. how can I assist you sir? Ooh look at those headlights. Hang on here. Let's go check out out a rods lights there.
that's an alignment. Good intermission. What those lights doing? Let me see. Hold on, What can I have a soda? I Would like a A Mexican Coke around here we call this pop. It's not pop. This isn't soda. It's not pop. It's only pop in in.
uh I better not say that. I'm going to offend everybody up in the cold land here. Man, Show us these illuminators you put in. Didn't put the headlights in yet I Just put these ones in.
Check out they stay Six says 67 on the headlight bulb. Yeah, I Seen that. Which one did you put in? these are cool switchbacks. Check them out.
So if you guys have the Superduty and you have the running light in the mirror, so this is it running, get it running. It's not doing anything butun it's running turn signal. check out what it does. What? So it's white? Yeah, but then turns to turn signal.
I Like it I Oh, that's why you call them switchbacks cuz they switch back. you look like a snowboarder. Hey dude about to hang 10 Man oh man. All right.
back to the Grind Okay, Fasteners coming in, get all this stuff bolted together. We're uh, we're in what I call the home stretch now, which is a very nice place to be. I Like it here. Yeah, that's three of these units.
bolt number four or number three I can't count that's on the back. We didn't see it coming out and we're not going to see it going back in. It's fine. We can hang out right here Here we go: Electron ratchet, spin them down and then the uh, big old Flex head to tighten him up.
uh-oh my flexi ratchet is failing to ratchet a click. There we go. and then the back. one top one far away, one the one you can't see if we didn't see it, it didn't happen.
a You're right, Kcks there we go. That guy is in position well here. since we're working on axles. let's go ahead.
and Bolt the CV axles. back in on both left and right side of these differentials. Get that guy in position right there. Oh, you know what? I failed my order of operations.
You see I need to rotate this differential to get these bolts in and the cars in park. and I put the drive shaft in. So I'm going to have to put the car neutral and rotate the drive staff. I had uh I failed I failed myself and I failed You guys, That's fine.
I'll make up for it later. No worries, we can at least put some of the bolts in right while we're here. Sure, why not get three? They're on my hand so I might as well put them in the in the vehicle here. We' got to get the Uh speed sensors bolted in as well.
the wheel speed sensors that is ha haa. and I'm starting to lose it getting a little loopy. there's the bolt. Yeah, we'll just circle back to these things.
Uh, later on. Circle back bunch of corporate double speak right there. Yeah, we'll Circle back to that later. Going to circle back? Like why are we going to circle back? We can just do it Right now.
There's no circling going around in a circle wasting efforts. We're going to circle back another one up top. I can actually tighten up most of these without rotating it around I'm going to try that. Just see what happens. Yeah, let's just see what happens. here. I can't reach the top one. not with the tool I can reach it I can thread it over here.
but I don't think I can tighten it. Yeah, that's not going to go in there so we can kind of almost click. Get this all the way in all but one. Okay, that side's good.
Good move it on over here. can't reach bolt. not enough space to ply torch H I wonder if I can just turn it a bunch? Use the wheels. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's working.
I'll just turn it around. Yeah, we don't need to put it neutral. we just need to try harder and slip the clutches in the diff. Got one more over here on this side.
so listen, while you guys weren't looking. I uh I put the the sway bar back up and I put uh a couple of the plastic panels back up to save us a little bit of time here that it's tight. Almost rounded it off. Oops.
So here let's plug in. got a speed sensor on this side. Let's get those tight and then uh, we'll get the exhaust back together. Okay, 12 mil fastener for the Uh speed sensor.
one on either side that makes two two cookies. Ah ah ah Aon's like what? what are you talking about Guys over here talking? Ah, two cookies. Ah ah ah uh. it's better than me talking about? power stroke in it.
That was funny I thought so h ah ah kick. All right. Speed sensors are tight. uh no, we're not doing diff oil on it.
It was, uh, it was already replaced at some point. CV Axles are all tight. Those guys have all had attention paid. Bolted in, bolted in, sway bar bolted in some of the skid panel little business covers are on.
They're not tight yet, but they're on. So I think it is time to get this exhaust back in position here. y So here's what I'm going to do I get her set up in the on the studs up front at the Wi pipe, raise it back up. one of the Mufflers is right above you guys and then I'll take the little bracket here.
Uhoh need to go more up? Bear with me Guys bear with me trying to get everything lined up all at once there. Now the bushing. I'll use my Noggin literally using my Noggin bushing. There it goes cool that one's on.
Did you guys see that? or is my camera all, uh, discombobulated, You saw it. Camera bushing Muffler Muffler Here we have one more bushing hanger. Yeah, it's getting late. I'm running out of the ability to recall the proper vocabulary and vernacular here.
There we go. Get in there. almost. Come on.
get in there. Yeah. I don't have a tool to put them back in. We only have a tool to take them out there.
Now it's back in Ha. Cool. So backing it up again. Let's get the nuts on and then I'll tighten down all the panels.
Okay, time for the nuts. Got two of them R here and left side. two more ratchet's ready to rock and roll. Yeah buddy. Ah. I ran out of socket. See that completely ran out? That's fine. I'll switch it to another.
Yep, we'll tighten it manually. That's what I'll do. But before I do that, let's head back up to the front and we'll get, uh, these ones set up as well. I It's come by with a handheld wrench and finish these off.
That'll work. Yeah, these are the shallow shallow socking F on the wobble. Okay, 14 mil regular wrench. Just finish this guy off.
I may have, uh, underestimated how much thread we have left here. In fact I guarantee that I did no matter. We have time, right fellas. We have time.
That's all we have is time. What you doing? What? What Do you? what? Why? You're messing with me. He's messing with me. Aaron's got the purpley gloves there clicky jaction.
all right. Back it on up. Let's go tighten down those other four those other four nuts we have back here and I've got a a couple bolts left on the the uh, what you call it the little panels down below. We'll finish those off and then uh I think this operation's good to go a little bit more click and click.
Got that one there. we go. four down, two to go there. we go last one.
Oh yeah for the exhaust. Anyway, here we go. All right. Got it.
So real quick since I lubricated like this entire rear end area when I was trying to press all that stuff out. Let's get get her cleaned up a little bit. just a little bit of shiny action. same with the exhaust.
There we go and we have one more panel Down Yonder to get together here. Let's circumnavigate this chemical waterfall that I've just created right here and get these last, uh, last. Fasteners on this panel rep position right here right now. Oh yeah.
Excited! we're almost done. Start with the tens. thought I Had some other Tens around here see I got the ones on on that panel. Those are good.
Two more 12s. Uh, excuse me, four more 12? these are. There's four of these there, got him? Okay, let's do a quick uh kind of recap and recheck of everything. So we've got: CV Axles on the exhaust is on.
Bushing is in. That nut is tight. Two front bolts are tight with new uh, new bushings. Sway bar is in and tight.
Panel's tight. Panel tight. This cross member's tight. That panel's tight.
Those guys are tight. Everything's nice and tight. No fluid sensors are in, the vent, hose is back in position. I'd say that this job is complete.
It is successful and it is Phito. However, I'm not done with the car. Uh, we still got to do an oil change on it and I know you guys don't want to see that. So we're going to skip that part or this was a performance part upgrade that doesn't go there.
He didn't get it. Yeah, this was a performance part upgrade with a slight repair mixed in. That's nice. Urathane bushing are highly promoted by the aftermarket industry. Highly over rated in most cases.
Can't help but notice u didn't put the top flat washer on top of the two front new bushing . When taken it apart there was a big flat washer on top and bottom . Like the one u used to push the rear in with .
Just curious if the yellow marks on the diff and the axel shafts needed to be lined back up when reinstalled?
What was the flat rate on replacing that bushing from hell?
Hi Ray, what I really like about you is your positive spirit, and you're a real mechanic, not a fitter.
Would silicone grease not have worked? Or what about using a metal brush attachment to smooth the surface inside the orifice for the bushing? just my line of reasoning and methodology😅 this is an annoying job to say the least.. ive run into this kinda resistance more than my fair share of times working on my own vehicle projects.
Must be a delight to remove exhaust bolts with these much ease..

not epa approved but would it have been possible to get a cup and pour some 134a into the cup and then put it the bushing.

After watching Ray fight this I got curious and watched several other videos of similar installs on the Infiniti G37s. No one seem to have as many issues as Ray did. One difference in the other videos is that they all removed the metal insert from the new bushing and then pushed in the rubber part by itself. Then they pushed the metal insert in the installed bushing. I wonder if having the insert installed caused the rubber part to balloon out more? Another guy used the outer metal ring from the original bushing like Ray attempted to use the hose clamp to contain the rubber from ballooning out when they were pushing it in.

If i remember correctly (and there could if been a modification to the part) the brass center bush originally came out and you virtually pushed the blue bush in from the OTHER side, just drawing the last half in then reinstall the brass center (lubed up) which again you can partly push in then use the installation tool to draw it the rest of the way through, normally done with none air tools but they help and takes no time at all……. you live n learn 😂

I wonder if a ball joint kit might have worked THAT WAS DIFFICULT FOR SOMETHING THAT SMALL. I WOULD HAVE BEEN CURSING and a flying tool once or twice
If anything, Ray, you may’ve compromised the torque strength of your electric tools, with this one, in my humble opinion. Could you have greased the outside of that bushing? A lotta work for a needy Nissan.
Part of this install not going smoothly is the rubber bushing absorbing the hammering effect of the impact tools. Rubber=no hammering effect. That's been my experience anyway.(and causing hearing loss too). That was NOT an easy job.
A more appropriate title would be Murphy’s Law in action.
Installing blue bushing is still better than being in sub zero winter weather.
Installing hot rod parts comes with no warranty.

ree😉 bush possibly pulled in the wrong direction, probably should have been the reverse of removal and the tool te the other way around using the cup to avoid squeezing out of siae?. Also drive shafts are not matched to the original orientation, the yellow paint marks are not alligned. probably ok but could introduce vibration.
I find using silicone lubricant really helps those polyurethane bushes slide into place. Oil based lubricants cause them to stick when fitting.

It not silliness it called rushing. You do not work for a dealership anymore you own the business. Take your time and do the job right no one is or can firer you. Your customers come to for your professionalism and service not speed.
Try using the air hammer for the top of that stubborn bushing. Using a flat hammer tool of course. Just a thought…

That pickup with tires way out past wheel wells is as dumb as it gets. Kicks up rocks debris breaks windshield on other vehicle. As illegal as it gets, and the drivers are easily known as a you know what

Wowza, these type jobs do indeed test a persons ability to hold onto our ability to step through adverse situations, easy to see your mind was tired as you found the latter part of the video difficult to talk the appropriate words while mentally drained. Totally understand, I have seen and been in these similar life experiences, it’s growth of our human resilience as you are also partaking in through this job 👍👍

Wasn’t there a metal washer between the bushing and the body when you took it apart?
why do you have to use a whole can of brake cleaner for one small spot like you do that is wasteful.
I have met steel that is weaker than the polyurethane of that nightmarish bushing!!!
Offhand trivia. Sometimes i magnetize sockets to hold onto awkward nuts/bolts when feeding them into a tricky hole.
I was watching to see if you tightened those nuts on the carrier. I have had garages forget them 3 out of 4 times on my F-350, which is a pain.

What was the purpose of replacing perfectly good bushings?
Aaaand the NVH engineer that spent years studying and likely at least months developing those bushes just died a little bit inside. The owner will now have to convince themselves that the drone and vibration they now suffer from the diff has made it faster…..
I was surprised with the lack of lube on install (needs to be dry fit so there's no possiblity it spins in the housing? IDK) , but hindsight is always 20/20! One of those tough ones you want to forget about…..
The yellow alignment marks on rhe half shaft flanged don't line up with the rear end flanges like they were when you unbolted them.
specs schmex …. a ball cyl hone brush is your friend here. That POS should even come with one.
I wonder if more prep work on the hole after you removed the old bushing would have helped. Use a flap sander and then a polisher. Light silicone lube on the parts and then sweet talk it a bit.
I don’t know why you didn’t lube that bushing up after freezing it before insertion, lube make everything better
I suppose that liquid nitrogen might have been better. When warm, wrap in a series of hose clamps, freeze, take clamps off. When done cooling, use rosebud torch on hole. Along with dingle berry hone on hole.
Just an idea, not a mechanic.

For those suggesting that Ray get the "dealer" or OEM part, I don't think the dealer sells just the bushing. I believe you have to buy the whole subframe with the bushing installed which is quite pricey.

Ray… If the dif is open you should be able to rotate the wheels and the axles even with the drive shaft on in park they will just rotate in different directions on the wheels

This was the most difficult struggle I've ever seen you go through. Maybe the bushing was meant to come in from the other side to avoid getting off center? All I can say is that the pain was real, and I felt it here in Ireland.
Interesting that the additional torque provided by the long handled ratchet was abandoned for the weaker right angle impact wrench when struggling with the last 1/8" of the top of the bushing. Power tools are not ALWAYS the answer. 🧐
Methinks those Blue bushings won't last as long as the factory bushings. He'll be baaaaack!

I have a 2020 Nissan Sentra (worst car ever). It has the same problem. There is a recall out for all these cars. The problem is we've been waiting for parts for months. It's so bad, it feels like the rear end is going to fall out, making the car undriveable. Never again.

How can a Bushing cause so many problems. Some engineer made it a tad to big. That 1/16 " is it going to mess with a 4 wheel alignment down the road ?
After learning lessons watching this debacle, I would have pressed out the rubber and torched a slit in the outer steel tube–then installed OEM bushing. You, sir, have grit.
I found tge secret to the sleeveless bushings that are tight is to use all thread that is sticking out 6-7 inches then use a nut and packer to start pulling the inside in first once started use the all thread rod sticking out past the first pusher plate to bolt on a pipe with outside diameter the same as outside diameter of bushing weld a thick plate on the back of 6 inch long pipe drill a hole and slide it over the all thread then use second nut to individually pull the outside into the housing by pulling the middle in first then the pipe on the outside it negates the bunching effect on the outside diameter it doesn’t matter how well it is lubed it all gets wiped off and it binds up so the pipe will look like the cone pusher you used in video only it has the full diameter pushing on it, it took me a long time to learn that lesson but it really works and cuts the repeat 500 times trying to press those suckers in
