TRD has always been turd for me and always will be 😉.
Will someone please tell these ignorant pavement princess kids trucks come with that rake for damn reasons. 😡
Ray, we love ya man but that had to be the sketchiest way to put those blocks in, shouldve unbolted the shock.
This video really amused me with the southpark clip smart guy😂
every truck i have seen with a so called leveling kit, actually gave it a squat. and the only truck i've seen currently that needs this is the extended cab f150 because the front is so much lower than the back. you always wan't some rake. both for payload and towing.
In my 30 years of building Toyota Trucks. I’ve NEVER seen a broken U-bolt that was reused. And I’ve reused A LOT of Toyota U-Bolts. Even when building Spring Packs for Tacoma’s by adding extra Tundra leafs to the stack.
Damn!
68k miles on a 3 year old Tacoma?
I only have 38k on my 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport 4×2.
Only put 6800 miles on for 2023.
The owner of this one must be a real road warrior.
Unfortunately it’s no longer a truck. Trucks have STEEL Bumpers. Minivans come equipped with plastic bumpers. This is part of the planned feminization of European Men.
Do you have to align the headlights?
Don’t all mechanics drive Toyotas?
I prefer a 2'' shackle to blocks….
what about the length of the shocks ????????
There’s no better security than every vehicle having it’s own individual cut ignition key. Push button ignition systems are a product of un-necessary complex, over-engineering from German car engineers, that should have stayed in German cars, in Europe. If your vehicle’s radio fob transmission & push button ignition system fails. Good luck footing the bill for a new system. Even having to re-program transmitter fobs is a major, wallet digging chore!!! ….that is unless you know a good hacker.
Ray your shop has really come a long ways. I remember your first vid with you walking in and talking about your plans for the shop. Great job!!
Why not use a deep socket.
Hithe is not a word
I haven't read farther down, but am I the only one wondering if the reason the "new" "leveling" spacers up front were installed and the lower shock/strut bolt was tightened while the suspension was fully drooped down, resulting in unexpected extra height? (Bushing captured under zero suspension pressure resulted in unexpected extra ride height?)
Turd eh?Keep driving Chebby trucks Ray.
Wait a damn min it to me a minute to realize that this is right down the road from me
thats one clean turd i mean trd
NICE JOB ILLEGALLY MODIFYING A VHEICLE FLORIDA HAS A MAXIMUM REAR BUMPER HEIGHT. ALSO CHECK HEADLIGHT ALIGNMENT.
I need AC work on my wife's car but I am worried about the quality of work others do. Could you provide an estimate if possible?
Is it worth explaining to people that with Independant suspension the wheels move in and outwards as well as just up and down, and when placed back on the ground the tyres don't move as much as the suspension needs to and that is why they hold themselves in and the vehicle up higher until the tension comes off the tyre and releases the tension in the suspension? or is that too much of an explanation?
So one of the first things my boss got me to do when I started my new job was to fit new springs to his ute. (because in my previous job, all I did was suspension, day in and day out…) It's just one bolt, and it makes it so much easier, safer and quicker to just unbolt the shock and let the spring and diff housing move how you want it to, rather than have the shock pulling on the components you need to line up again.
"Sorry to European types?" You mean the entire globe right? Since only USA, Liberia and Myanmar use imperial. We are not the exception…
Hey Ray, TRD stands for Toyota Racing Development , focusing on tuning and performance for the automaker. TRD develops auto parts, performance products, and unique accessories for Toyota models across the country. Model-specific wheels, suspension upgrades, and superchargers are all products offered and developed by TRD.
If I have to hear Taylor Swift one more time I am going to loose it. Why do people keep talking about this nobody?
Why do people do this? Seems pointless and dangerous.
Never understood why so many use a sawsall when a grinder would work. Soo much faster.
They should have known better. Just as Chevrolet should have known that "Nova" was going to mean "Doesn't go".
Taylor switft is something fucky because her boyfriend is being sponsored by the government to direct a film.
So here is a question. This is a two year old vehicle. Depending on miles damage ect. Why is this going back to Toyota for warranty. If it is a defect Toyota should take care of this. Call se Toyota.
Passenger side rear was 37.75 actually, so closer than you were thinking at 38!
Ray, please, just please, put a closer on that person door. Or are you just waiting to make a video about how all those people were right?
Man. Struggle bus. Why wouldn't you just remove the lower shock bolt. No sketchy prying and not taking the shock to full extension.
Uplifting is successful!!! You are the man Ray!!!
Not much point of measuring other than maybe at the back to see the difference…. Just stick the spacers in and done by your logic.
Hi ray and wife unit and two young gentleman just finished watching video excellent job been watching for long time now sure learning a lot I enjoy even if it’s short or long remember it Educational to me and as always you all be safe 🇺🇸🇺🇸
had you left the bolts on the first side loose it would have been possible to move the axle without resorting to the use of ratchet straps.
He’s gonna need longer rear shocks
Would have been a good opportunity to fit airbags to the rear axle. I did it to my RV, a much smoother ride and I could raise or lower them individually to level out the habitation area so that the shower drained properly!
I found out long ago that new U bolts are the way to go when I blew the threads off one U bolt . I see on other channels they reuse the crap out of them. Good video.
Would be better adding a extra leaf to the spring pack than doggy lowering blocks
Funny how those post impact driver 'clicks' (16'30") happen sooooo quickly… even before the nut starts to turn sometimes ….reeeeee much better on second go (26'00"). Luv ya vids!
So a micro nanometer would be a millionth of a nanometer? (1 x 10 ^- 54}
You Americans still use bananas? Metric is in, Imperial is out!
Oh damn i miss a couple videos and theres a new guy
Why did you put a stand up the rear tow hitch? If the weight comes off the rear, the vehicle will tilt forward, not back.
"Danger, Will Robinson, Danger"
I just luv it when hacks and weekend warriors know more than the engineers. If it was that easy, it would be an option. Oh wait, it is the TRD package! Ray, do a follow-up when they blow the OEM shocks or complain that the ride sucks…
Always enjoy your videos Ray
Another awesome video!👍👍👍
sorry its the grappler they have a web site that every cop should view for there safety and the public's.any cop that's qualified for a pit, this is more simple .i dont work for this company but as a ex cop i want to protect cops and the citizens thank you
the grabber looks pretty good any 1 seen it used there's vids on you tube and no pit required anybody ?? seen 1 used ??
Swifty is playing tomorrow night in Melbourne she flew in today
nice truck
Those rear shocks are way to short.
That was easy to install ray
Going to be a rough ride the shocks are fully extended.
Nice looking TRD . What did it smell like inside ?
Wow they forgot to paint that truck. Or they could not afford the paint, so left it in primer.
It's a TURD!
Not sure if anyone else has this problem. But that 1/2 inch would bother me. Not sure why. The wife says that it's just how I am. Things nobody would see, but I would know about, bother me. I'm 50 and have been this way for as long as I can remember. When I was an apprentice for someone that built NHRA Pro Stock engines. He told me one of the main reasons he took me under his wing was because of my attention to detail. Although sometimes I feel it's to the point of being a flaw.
That pry bar sliding gave me a bloody nose
I'm surprised the lift block did not have at least a °3 taper to adjust the pinion angle. Perhaps one or the other could be rotated °180 which would be a very not good RAY!
Hack job on cutting the U-bolts bro. Should have cut them off the truck on a vice so they are all the same length. Toyotas deserve better than that.
Toyota tech here. The rear shock holds the axle. If you unbolted the bottom shock the axle wouldve lowered and wouldve been so much easier. Also i see it had a pre collision system. This system is very sensitive and requires recalibration after any suspension modification or to be disabled for liability. Be careful, you can get blamed pretty easily if that wasnt recalibrated and they get in a collision.
"TRD doesn't stand for turd…oh, it's a push button turd." 😂
If you're unloading weight from the rear of the truck, wouldn't you want the jack stand under the front to avoid truck from tipping forward ?
Centimetres make it much easier to measure and remember.
Ray man doing Ray man things as per norm. Keep em coming
Getting to see the wife unit is one of the highlights of your videos
Interesting
Do I detect the mispronunciation of the word “height?” Words… 😉👍🤓
Hey just wondering does the orientation of the blocks matter, I noticed they looked tapered
what would be the outcome if the impact tightened the bolts too tight. then you use a torque wrench set at a lower setting than the impact socket the torque would click and it could be too tight???
Could have saved more time and effort by taking the lower shocks loose. Much easier. If you all do this at home take the lower shocks loose.
OH a TACO MA
Ree! I have an invalid opinion as I am not a mechanic, an engineer, nor a metalergist.
Because I have an opinion, I must take to the interwebs to contest your assertion error in on the side of caution is advantageous when accepting the risk of working on a custo.er's vehicle in the state of Florida.
And as for Taylor Swift, them saying it's not a PsyOp meand it has to be! To the Aluminum Foil Deflector Beanies!
lift blocks are hot garbage. 100% guaranteed they will flatten out the springs in a year or two. You can do it cheap, or you can do it right.
hey Ray, I noticed the tail brake lights are out on driver side
why does a 3 yr old truck have saggy rear springs.?
We always tightened ours in a criss cross form
Gas tank on left side and fuel causes the minor difference vs right
Now that's anal.
Hurray🦊
Or as I refer to it as a TuRD have you seen the video of the entire tear down of the 2022 TUNDRA to replace the short block 😂😂😂 what a mess
Psssssssst…..Ray….there’s centimeters on the right side of the tape…..your daily PSA.
that is a nicely built truck, usually just see silverado, ford garbage on here
Passenger rear 38? and the rest 37.5? Nice truck
Seeing the trouble Ray had with getting the one side lined up is one reason i won't do leaf springs or replace the rear axle itself. Never did like doing that
First Toyota work? I don't recall any work on those in the shop.
You call yourself a Floridian! A true Floridian would have installed another block instead of cutting the bolts.
Shouldn't it have different shocks with a longer throw?
