Ford f-150 six-liter diesel v8 day number. Three. I've figured out what's wrong with the ac system put in a condenser, a compressor, a belt receiver dryer a new orifice tube. I removed the old two orifice tubes that were in there, but the system still didn't come on.
After some careful probing with my meter device here, we discovered that there were two fuses that were open, one of which was the ac uh compressor power supply fuse number 15 or 15 amp. I think used 20, something like that. Anyway, i threw a couple new fuses in there. Should fire right up here, let's put our thermal meter in the dash and see what kind of temperatures it makes be back in five here we should probably take our goodies out of here.
Yeah there's one of the blow it up fuses, oh, come on there all right. What is the let's verdict? What we got survey says that idol we're doing 58 degrees. I can accept that better than 100 a rat okay, i'm still waiting for a hose barb to show up. So i can extend this hose a little bit and then i'll refill the coolant, and this one is done so mission accomplished.
Success achieved all right. Let's back this thing out make some space - i'm not gon na leave this in the stall for just for one little piece of plastic. Let's get out of here. Can i get out looks like it yeah we're good, oh cute, little horn, that's coming with me all right guys! That's the me wrap for this one thanks for watching this short little video.
I know some of you wanted to see this thing through to conclusion. Again, thank you for watching. Most importantly, don't forget to have yourselves a great day see you guys later for powering down.
Thats how it goes when your a hot commodity. 🤣😇😊😉
Sooooo, you threw a buncha parts at it, then checked the fuses?
Should alway check for cause of blown fuse.
🤙🏽🤙🏽
Good mechanics have Swiss Army Thumbnails
Great videos, you do good with one hand think how fast you could go with 2. Could you mount a camera on your head like a motorcyclist. I was a mechanic for 10 years, don't miss it a bit, those holes were in the wrong place I would have taken a hole saw and made some new ones to line up with the bolts, then tapered the bolt ends to help line them up too
Your shop phone… can you change the ringer? My husband is watching your videos day and night, and prrrRRRrrrrr prrrRRRrrrrr.
This one was quite the job!
That's a hell of a lot of parts cannon when all it needed was a fuse.🤣
Its making what?!!!?? I can't hear you!!!! 🤣
I gotta get me one of those thumb nail screwdrivers that you put the fuse panel back on, that was pure professional! Thanks for the video, as we all say we all learn something each tiime.
Fun "ship in a bottle" job. Nice work, but just be glad it's not a NY vehicle. Up here, that job could easily escalate to pulling the motor, as everything from wires to fasteners would be salt eaten, especially with that kind of mileage. NO walk in the park on a Florida vehicle either, but you nailed it. There are so many things to go wrong getting to the buried accessories on these newer vehicles. Some repairs require a minor miracle to pull of as described in the book. Thanks for filming it, it's gotta be tough on a job like that. Looking forward to tomorrow, don't know how you do it.
I suspected the fuse as well but I cannot understand why it should blow. The magnetic clutch was not shorted to ground, it did not work but it was jammed up against the compressor, This should not have caused more current to flow. Please let me know what I am overlooking
As the compressor died it drew more and more current until the fuse protected the wiring and prevented a fire.
I bet the frozen AC compressor caused the fuse’s to blow!
Well that was a challenging fix. It was really, really broken. Great to see you got it running properly again Ray.
I identify as a WORLD CLASS MECHANIC – I should now be able to fix all the problems on my beater.
👏👏👏👏alright stay tuned for part four. Patiently waiting for it
Dang it Ray, you didn't do clicks on the fuse panel cover, it's gonna fall off and be a come back!!!!!!111111qqqqqqqqq. lol
Yay!! Success!!
But you didn’t take us through the process. I feel incomplete. You said it was a ground. 😃
Eff Tree Fiddy
Ye ole fuse popparooni
Love them fuses….
Great job Ray!!! Very impressive gent to observe on his mastery of mechanical ability and know how!!! Thank you for sharing all the work on this vehicle!!!
Glad you're finally done with that POS and can move on with your life 😉
Wow so much work on that piece of crap,so happy you got it buddy
I called it last video.
Yeah, you want to add that segment of hose, so that when the engine rocks back under acceleration, it doesn't pull out.
makes sense a fuse was blown with the compressor locked up. It can't continue to engage the clutch when seized.
I think the Ford needs to turn into a silvery rado. 😏 Or, in this case, a yellow one.
Why use a screwdriver when you have long thumbnails 🤪🤪🤪
The question is, why would it blow two fuses? One I can see however two fuses is not likely a coincidence.
Money light is still on ?
WHEW!!!
Thanks.
Wouldn't you check the fuses first before replacing all the i'm just kidding. Watch the other videos first before saying anything like this nubcakes<<<
The old thumbnail screwdriver trick. 😀
Very involved repair. You are a patient person. Thanks for the informative video.
Comment added…
Glad to see that there's a light at the end of the tunnel for you, Ray 🙂 I do IT for a living and nothing's better than finally fixing an issue that just wouldn't go away.
I learn something every time I watch. I very much appreciate all the good mechanics who take their time to make content like this. It can only raise the educational level of both the mechanics and the consumers.
Hate to say told you so… 🤣🤣
When the comment section actually has a WIN!
Good Work Ray! Man that F350 was named right, a 350% pain in the ass.
Almost forgot how loud the 6.0 was.
Looking good!
I was confident you would get it to work. If this were my truck I would've smashed it into a tree by now, lol.
This wasn't a fully loaded parts cannon fired for two fuses, was it?
👍😎👍🇬🇧🇱🇷 m-E-m
Finally Done
Yeah, there were commenters yesterday that predicted a blown fuse. Congratulations to them!
You the man Rainman.
Good fix, I like happy endings and for some reason I didn't fall asleep on this video……
Fuse did its job! Mission accomplished! Ordeal ovair! Thanks for the series. Hope the owner had enjoyed the savings from using the wrong parts in a previous repair.
nice thanks for making the follow up video!
Please explain to me how 58 Fahrenheit is acceptable for a completely new AC system from A to z. You should be in the mid-40s.
Combat pay you should get. great job,
Great to see it was an easy one to finish off! (I have to admit I was dreading hearing that the belt or something had eaten part of the wiring loom!)
As an internet expert Ford 350 diesel mechanic, I agree that the fuse was the problem all along. /s
G’day Ray and greetings from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 your a good technician and I wish you were down here, you follow through even with the most complicated problems to find a solution. I enjoy watching the channel look after yourself regards John
Which comments told you the end of the last video. Remember to always check the fuse first.
Good vids big guy
You quite often quote bolt sizes in mm and AC charges in kilograms any chance you could use Celsius as well.;-)
Had similar blown fuse on 2001 Jetta, fuse holder was corroded.
So a little Probing interesting 🤔 blowed up Fuze!
I wish we could see a customer's reaction sometimes or hear the total price of the job.
You're a toolaholic Ray👍😃
Wow,Rays new tester lights up like a hockey goal red lamp.
nice job cool man alot of awkward hard work
The 6.0 powerstroke doesn’t have a check engine light, it has a change engine light.
Where's the Pew ? How do we know you shut it down if you didn't do the pew?😉😅
Hi ray. I have the same engine except in van form and I'm wanting to do this same job on mine plus a new transmission cooler……can you give a ballpark on what this job that you did cost?
Go Chiefs
fords and a stick of dynamite go together
If you had to replace the compressor, I wonder if we’d see a 60 minute video of flying F bombs and wrenches!
134 or 134 qrst
I've had that happen, get so deep into a repair and spend so long on it, you're just ready for it to be done and a simple little thing escapes you. Cars and PCs, they can be complicated.
What did it cost them to get all that fixed??? Ballpark number???
Ray a really great video and I must say the camera angles you manage to get are fantastic unlike poor Ivan from pine hollow although his videos are entertaining as well, great work and great result itwas only a fuse to wrap it up as the owner was in for a hefty bill as it was. 👍
One for Chunks one for Bubbles…
The owner surely is impressed by your skills and brings this truck in for additional repairs. 😀
Smartness goes a long way!
Hose barb. Nice . An uncle of mine ( ASE certified ) will sub out automotive part with home improvement parts if possible and save customer money while doing shade tree repairs.
Nice work! How did you handle that ground wire mess that you showed when you were taking it apart in the first video?
Why dont u do the sound after u turn it off anymore it so funny and me and my wife like it alot please continue
I learned Something new, If air condition failed check fuse First.
Of course…it's a Ford. The epitome of questionable engineering practices.
I wouldn't mind seeing a video of you shopping inside the Snap On truck, if the guy will let you. i bet there are some sweet tools in there
i imagine when it ate the belt it overloaded the fuse and popped it. when you put in the new parts the fuse was still popped and that was your problem. should be all bueno now
👍
Back to Rule No. 1: Check the simplest things first.
I knew this video was coming 😂
Up to the next.
After major parts canon and it was a fuse. That will be $1500 for a blown fuse.
As usual, great video sir.
Bet your glad to get rid of that one.
Ray, what a sense of accomplishment you must feel when fixing such a monstrosity like that. What a PITA!
⁰
Ray, how did you reattach that frayed(?) ground wire to the frame???
Did you charge the guy for all the parts and work before you found it was the fuse?
that ground wire that was screw to the frame
