In this video I have a look at a 2005 Buick LeSabre that came in with the Air Bag light glowing. Service data and flow charts would have you hours deep into making the call on the faulty part. I think we can read the theory and operation and get the the problem a little quicker. -Enjoy!

Thanks for the volt meter comment. I have the same issue with my Buick but I havenโt determined if I have been molested by a squirrel or if the sensor is bad. The noise under the dash is probably an hvac actuator trying to get going. I truly enjoy your videos.
Lee say bray?
What kind of scan toll is that and where can I buy one thanks
Does the service information (diagrams, code criteria, flowcharts) come with the scan tool when purchasing? Or is it a purchase plus subscription?
Also there are no codes available.
I notice you havnt worked on a lacrosse im having an issue with. My 2007 lacrosse has been put on diagnostic and nothing was found wrong i have no check engine light on.but the car keeps stalling please give me an idea
Hay blow the air bag we just hit something lol
My 1997 corrola airbag light came on for a few minutes. I was very confused and afraid because the car has no airbags…
Eric O, I know itโs your Youtube channel but you should do a special one called, A day with Mrs.O, what a normal day is like for her. Just a thought.
Nice
You got rid of the red and yellow thumbnail text? How dare you change! I'm outta here.
Nah it's cool, I like the new look. Keep up the awesome diagnostic content.
My 2005 Buick Lasabre is in the shop right now and the mechanic called me and said the front sensor is bad and it is 200.00 for the part. I'm looking for one online to see if I can get it for less. So far no good. Guesss I;m out 200 bucks! Thank you.
Good lord what is the background noise
Great video Mr O. You never cease to amaze!
Nice job. Realize it was about the air bag sensor, but you went right by the strange noise behind the dash. Maybe you and the owner could find out what exactly is going on.
Good channel. I subscribed a few days ago. Very down to earth and a good variety of repairs and vehicles. ๐
is upstate still stuck in the 70's?
Local shop did auto body repair, airbag lite was on when I drove it off the lot, service manager did not mention the problem, said he forgot to, and the mechanic was not in for two more days.. Not trusting them, I asked a friend/mechanic to check it out. FIrst thing he asked, โDid it read out any codes at all or was it just lit up?โ No codes. Then I discovered this video. Iโm taking it in to mechanic tomorrow. Someone I can trust. I will admit that the body shop did great work. Not so sure about their mechanics, however. Also, the tire inflation monitor also lit, not red, no codes.
Noise in the dash, easy to determine that one, it's the emergency hamster driven battery charger, its wheel needs a spot of lube
Good simple diag and repair
Great video Eric O
Slick and there's nothing better then the smell of fresh asphalt in the morning.
so how much did you charge the customer for this repair?
Thanks SMA same thing is going on with my 05 xg350. Greetings from Phelps Ky, Thanks Dr O
Happy 4th of July Eric O an family, although not some thing we celebrate here in Aus hope weather kind to you all an you get enjoy your day an upcoming weekend cheers
have a question by any chance do you know where the headlight and foglight relays are on a 07 monte carlo / impala model because there not in the usual spot under the hood location trying to find out why my day time running lights not working as well as my fog lights want to check out the relays first. there not in the usual spot under the hood much help will be apreceated
For some reason every general motor products Iโve worked on in the past 10 years all had mice damage. There like cheese to them canโt figure out why.
Mmmm… The bearded man can check my oil anytime ๐
The Buick's dash is sending a Morse Code message…
Service data said it checks 3 times before setting a code, it did not say it would stop checking after that
WHAT?? They're paving already??? Geesh … here in MA, when they start a road project, it's a minimum of a year before anything gets done, most of the time longer! ๐ก
Good to know the SDM sends that signal out. I didn't know that. The one time I changed front sensors in a '07 Sierra, the problem was obvious – no testing needed. The things were swollen and blown out in several spots, with green crust oozing from each crack! Fantastic engineering, straight from Singapore. GM, hitting 'em outta the park, as usual! ๐
You and the fam-jam have a great Independence Day! I need to go look for fuse for my mini-cannon. ๐
Changed a few impact sensors, usually side impact sensors due to water ingress. The difference between a good and bad sensor at key on self-test really shows up on the oscilloscope a good sensors has a very distinctive pattern
Ive replaced a few of these on GM's they seem to be a common issue on northern cars. The sensor gets corroded at the metal sleeve where the mounting screw is. What's real fun is when that mounting screw breaks off in the rad support. On Chevy trucks you have to remove the radiator and condenser to access the broken carnage. Putting it nicely as Eric says it's a real pisser of a job.
kool! Dr. Eric! you da man! I'm ascared of airbags! thank you for enlighting me!
Nice Air Bag diagnosis video, Eric have almost nice tool Snap-on Autel Launch BOSCH.
Yes I could do it….. If I had a 3000$$ dollar scan tool. just messing around. Good vid
๐๐
I just had this problem and I couldn't find any information about it anywhere including my service manual so I had a garage do it for 450.00. Could a guy with no electrical testers do this job. Thanks
Good stuff.
Thought you were going to do a bypass with a resistor if that would work in this case..thanks for sharing
Speedo goes to 140…….mph or kph, no dual scale and didn't see label.
Would have been interesting to see what the signal looks like with the new sensor plugged in. It should be abel to send some kind of signal back to the SDM
You need to do a video on, "how to deploy an Airbag" as part of the 4th festivities !!! BOOM
But can she do it?
That's what I wanted to do also. Front probe it GINGERLY!! ๐ฑ๐
Not a comment about the fault/repair I'm afraid… How comes there's such a big gap between when they rip up the old road tarmac and when they replace it? (was it a month?!) They do it pretty much same day in the UK!
I wonder how many actually figure out the threads are lefties.. Would drive me a bit nuts if not specifically stated some place. Thanks for sharing.
Hello I just have a question I have a toyota Camry 2007 4cyl the code that is giving is p0101 and p0171 what is causing this and running rough in Idle. I don't live in the states I live in Puerto Rico if you have encounter this problem any help would be appreciated
I herd one time the air bag light came on then airbags deployed when the car was at a stop light
didn't the FSM instruct to drive head on into a wall @10 MPH, in order for the ecu to recognize the new sensor?
