In a previous video ( https://youtu.be/RLyDJvnomj4 ) we had a look at a 2005 Buick LeSabre and determined that the rear integration module (RIM) had failed. I now have the used one from the salvage yard so let's see if I was right. -Enjoy!

Thank you I’ve been trying to figure this shit out lol now do one on the tail lights lol
Boy I wish you were near me. I have a 2003 Buick Lesabre with only 55k on it and the three doors (excluding drivers door) have stopped responding. I’m sure it’s a module issue.
good diagnosis. What was the part number on the rim module?
you never said what rim is
Do I half to reprogram? What do I need to get to reprogram
Good call, SMA.
Nope cigar lighter push in and they hold heat and release most often poor grounds
I can't watch your videos without learning something new, wish you were closer I'd drive my Buick over and have you fix my rear window defogger.
What ever happened to these features just working with switches and fuses? Why the heck do you need a separate module to "control" them? One more thing to break and pay for just so the computer can read them…. Idk
i have the same car and the cig lighter will only stay in and light itself on the right side 12v. not sure why.
Great vid very informative.
Dealership has my car right now said it would be $587 for exact same problem, charged me $132 for diagnostic, going to get my car right now to fix myself..thanks!…..3 hours later my 2000 Buick lesabre is fixed!! Thanks again!
Once again good job south main auto 🚗👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✋
Watching SMA Videos makes me wanna send my vehicles to them for Repairs such dedication to his craft
I love your videos, but PLEASE don't call it a "rim job." you're killing me here. lol
I have a 2005 buick lesabre and it will not crank with key or stay running no communication to computer windows wont go up or down my gear selector light doesnt show what gear its in trunk button doesnt open trunk radio shows time but will not play music! I wish i was closer to where you are so i could take my car
Don't have a R.I.M. issue the video was most helpful as to the process (my brain is very similar to yours on (Diagnosis.)
Thanks for the Buick R.I.M. diagnosis video. I actually was looking for help in the heater control Blend Door issue!
Did you tell customer about the battery gas vent isnt there?
What is a rim module?
Did not know that Buicks had air ride suspension mine was newer than that and it did not good job
Your so funny Eric O 😆👍🏻🇬🇧
Awesome
Thx for the follow up. I had the exact same problem, except the rear air suspension worked before replacing the RIM, now does not. I do not have a Tech 2 anymore, so my gut tells me it's a calibration issue, that I cannot do. I did get a used piece though.. So who knows.. GM said they do not make them for my customer's 03 Park Ave anymore. So gotta find someone that has the scanner capability. Thx again!
Great video eric
Nothing like a good rim job…
Yet to have a "follow up" RIM job….yet….
Thanks for the follow up.
Just curious, how do you know the rear suspension problem is not blowing the RIM? What is the scanner/tablet that you pull up those wiring diagrams so fast on? Thanks for the video.
Great job like always A+
Junkyard FTW – Yeah! Well done Dr. O!
Nice follow-up Eric. Your Mom would be proud brother.
Cool fix 🙂
I was wondering if i saw correctly. You said that the part was used from the junkyard but it was wrapped in plastic? or was that something else?
So this job requires a 3K scan tool to complete the repair?
I googled "rim job" on the internet looking for this follow up. Wasn't disappointed…
I was watching an American Picker show a while back and they had the son of the guy that created the LeSabre, Corvette, etc. He was the concept car artist that first drew those models. Very cool stuff to see.
And that's how it's done! Super job as always Eric!
Good job. Back when I was young and dumb I wouldn't buy a car unless the cigarette lighter worked! Needless to say I always bought junkers. Thanks for the video.
Just told my wife I’m watching a R.I.M job on YouTube! Didn’t bat an eye.
I love those old Buicks, they're great highway cars.
Just installed a pair of Monroe 90007 conversion shocks on the back of a 01 LeSabre yesterday. Kit comes with two coilover shocks and all the hardware. Brought the ride height back up to where it needs to be without the pesky air ride BS.
Good job Eric.
Your my hero.
WOW, I had never, ever seen the 3 port fuse port system….How cool ! (It proves, 1 day an auto engineer that had his head outta the sand for that particular day)… very smart.
When you were correcting the no cig ltr, on the La sabre, it reminded me of the time my dad left me and my younger brother in our 1951 Chevrolet and went in a store. I guess I was about 8 and my dad was a smoker so I pushed in the cig ltr and when it popped out I took it and pressed the very red hot unit on to the plastic steering wheel. Of course, it melted a perfect little target in the plastic. My little bro. said, can I do that ? Of course you can. When my dad got in the car we were both sitting in the back seat looking out the window. We burned about 10 little targets all over the plastic steering wheel. I sure you can imagine how much trouble I was in.
Cheaper to get a set of universal air shocks from somewhere like autozone
Man…. whenever I put something back together before fully testing I ALWAYS get burned… Nice rim job Mr O.
Hate to be the one who has to say it but, you missed 2 opportunities to use your PP IV. The probe is insulated, so it wouldn’t short against the ground in the lighter or power socket and, it has a built in ground so you wouldn’t have to wiggle your ground clip on a rusty strut bolt.
I know, I know… I’m not a PP fanboy either. But, since I finally caved in and bought one, I find it handy on occasion. I have a Load Pro, too. I’ll even admit to using it from time to time. We’ve all done things we’re not real proud of!
