In a previous video https://youtu.be/yfxufORZNyU I replaced the front brakes on this Caddy ATS. It's now to to replace the rear pads and rotors then move onto the radiator. -Enjoy!

talk more about what your doing instead of editing and other things. Not sure what you did after you polished. No idea the grease/lube you used, no idea how you installed the hardware because you were talking about how you don't like editing. – roughly 12 min into the video. If you are going to do a how to video, explain how to!
Thanks…just bought a '15 ATS with 50k…any vids are appreciated….including differential/transfer case and anything else they have! 🙂
You probably have to pull the entire bumper cover off to change a head lamp bulb. I had to do that on my STS. Stupid design. The engineers/designers at Cadillac needed to be taken out behind the wood shed for an attitude adjustment
Great video ! Do you have one on adjusting the parking brake ?
That's how all brake jobs SHOULD be done and NEVER are. Bravo my good fellow. 10/10
using extensions doesnt bother nothing
OMG WHY ARE YOU USING A CHROME SOCKET ON YOUR IMPACT!? HAHA just kidding I don't give a crap. Good video as always Eric! Amazing lad you are sir!
Thanks for an outstanding video. I haven't replaced my rotors in forever and needed a refresher. Good stuff! 😀
Thought she was trading it in? Must have seen the price for new ones ! Still don’t understand why you don’t flush brake fluid when doing a complete brake service. Standard practice for me.
Great video! You may have missed your calling. You would make a great stand up comedian. Keep up the great informative videos.
Lol I hear ya
I worked at New Pig Corporation in Tipton Pa. where that pig mat was made . 8 years . Nice place to work for , should have stayed there !
Down south maybe its ok to crack a bleeder to push the piston back. Up north forget about it unless your thinking of replacing your caliper. The bleeders snap off just by touching it and thats even if you can get a wrench on it. The rust has already dropped it 2 sizes and round. Ive never broke a bleeder free for a standard rotor pad swap and havnt had a issue in 12 years of doing brakes.
Clop clop clop bang … amish driveby
Don’t worry man. I won’t listen to you.
Did any of these ats cars have drum brakes?
Back on the rear back back on the back back…were back on the rear brakes 😆
Just so you know ya ding-dong, your jokes are exclusively why I'm here. That and the mainland china references. By the time you see this the election will be over. And that should mean the end of the rona. And remember to vote out your governor Cuomo. Shutting down the state and closing the economy is solely each governor's decision. But as an aside, brake videos are strangely theraputic. Except porsches. I don't like unexpected engineering, let's call it that way. And even if you did get .06% of the Rona, .006% chance of dying. And you ain't dying anytime soon. Not health related anyway. All bets are off if you pick fights though.
Cady my kind of cars good job I listen to you today for about 5 hours I’m a fan wish your garage would be where I live I know you have plenty of work I still feel for Subaru people
I just checked German E-Bay for Fluid Film and found several offerings. That stuff is not cheap, like $ 11.00 a can, but I will check it out 🙂
Yay, another brake video!! Honestly, I really enjoy watching these videos!! Attention to detail is beyond awesome!! Wooohooo!! Hope you keep them coming… Merci
Could you send me a sticker?
I need to buy some of that fluid film and that purple brake lube but damn is it expensive to buy in the UK
Thanks for the brake burnishing advice! I'm going to do exactly what you do the next time I do brakes, and if anything goes wrong, I'll blame Eric the Car Guy.
The same way i doo it just shove them back
Question- Does this ATS have the air ride suspension in it like the XTS? If it does- does it need to be reset when the car is put up on the lift? Thanks
Wow, i never new Avocado was so big!!
Burnishing in brakes??? Oh, seems I've being doing it wrong for 39 years oops
Need more brake videos.
I almost thought NASCAR was back til you hung that right turn…
Rattleac
Yeah, the 'Dude, Bruh!' brigade can get all butt-hurt about a piston being pushed back in, but if it's not binding or corroded, why not exactly?
I'm admittedly a cheap bastard, and I'm from a location pretty much the opposite of the rust belt. E.g. it's unsalted and dry as a… you get the idea.
So I have rebuilt brake calipers with new seals after disassembling and picking/brushing/dremeling out all the filth, but if it ain't broke, why would someone being paid by the hour fix it? Hell, my time is worth a fraction of Eric O's and if it was moving freely enough to push back with a big flatblade or a C clamp, I would do that thing and drive it until something else broke.
Edit: If I gave it to a shop to do brakes, I'd get them to do a flush at the same time. Especially if I lived in the land of road salt and snow. But it the customer isn't paying then why snap off or round a rusted mess of a bleeder screw to drain the caliper as it's piston is being pushed in? I mean there might be a bit of crud, water or filth lurking at the very bottom of the fluid in the caliper. But being pushed in that slowly it's not likely to go anywhere.
T-shirt without a pocket is just a rag.
How about a rear brake shoe replacement
Why don't you flush the brake lines with a Mity Vac while you're in the brakes? Probably an extra charge – more important than you think. (Upsell a littlebit).
Like the traveling music.
You always state that NAPA is not a sponsor, yet the sign above your garage shows you to be a NAPA Car Care Center.
Opel right ? Not GM this is a trick question!
love to see you take the same care as I do on ensuring the pads slide nice in those brackets. I've replaced so many worn down rotors because the prevoius shop didn't take the time. Wasted money. Love your videos.
What? No brake clean sound effects?
Good score from fliud film! I am about to buy a coffee mug from you, be cool to find one of your million fluid film stickers just dropped in the package! Good tip on the burnishing process, so few know or care care enough. Thanks! Stay well.
Great video Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Every brand that makes pads have there own break in procedure and following there procedure is best way to be safe just like Eric O said @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
I enjoy seeing your town
Even ford service data tells you on some models to just push the piston back on the calipers no opening bleeder unless your bleeding brakes
Didn't mention the car model, it's a 2010 Hyundai Sonata
Mr. O, not related to this video have you ever done a video on power window repair? The passenger side windows don't go up or down from the driver's side master switch, but work fine if I use the switch on each door. Fuses all look okay. Can't figure it out.
I would bet even the GM dealer mechanics don't torque brake caliper hardware, they will tell you they do but, yeah, right. How can I say this? A friend had his brakes done at the dealer he bought the ATS from, he came to me with a rattle, the caliper was LOOSE. Now they do NONE of his work.
