Why on earth Chrysler never put the transmission oil dipstick in the Dodge Grand Caravans and Chrysler Town and Countries equipped with the 62TE 6 speed automatic transmissions is beyond me. In this video I show you a "life hack" so you can check the trans fluid your self in one of these with out going to the dealer! Why go buy the Miller special tool 9336A when you already have a "dipstick" in your vehicle!

Good evening, I have a Promaster 1500 with the 62TE. Same type of dip stick in the video and the chart they gave, but when I put the dip stick into the neck it goes to a point then stops. Ive measured that point which looks correct on the pan. But after completely flushing it and putting 9 qts as told, its not registering any amount. BUT, if you whiggle and turn the dip stick it will go past that stopping point and deeper into the pan. I figure the first stop is correct by the measurement I took, but maybe not???? Can you advise please. Thanks Chris
Bless you!! Great information!!! I just had one with leaking cooler lines, how much was lost..??? Now I can tell!!
10 quarts when you rebuilt the transmission and 4 quarts when you change the oil filter forget about this crap
Thank you!!!
Good job on the measuring on the dipstick. Other people are not GOOD at it. Thank you.
Did that cap say โ Dealer โ or โStealerโ
Just below lawn mower quality engineering!
It would have cost them a few pennies to add a plastic extension on that cap.
If people would donate 1$ for every and each viewings….you would just have 598,847 dollars in your pocket. You should post paypal for donations.
Is it the same measurement for the 3.8 vs 3.6
3.3l engine 2001 to 2007 had a dipstick! So they just want to screw you in 2008, all components the same. I do this on cvt trans too in Paatriots.
JENEUS!
Good Sir, I am in fact a rocket surgeon and I wanted to correct you: this is exactly like rocket surgery.
Can anyone tell me how to service the 2020 model? I don't have the dealer only hole.
Would of been nice if you would let us know how much trans oil to put in it. Thanks
THANK YOU! I'm a DIYer too! I couldn't find the specs ANYWHERE.
Love these videos, have learned so much. Would add a word of caution that the oil dip stick can bypass the stop for gauging the amount of fluid in the tranny. If you are changing the fluid and filter, once the pan is removed, put the oil dip stick in the tube then go under the car and make sure it hits the stop, then mark the dip stick where it lines up with the top of the tube. Several times my oil dip stick bypassed the stop which gives you an inaccurate reading.
Nice to have guys like I nead to do that to think you have a good day
Great job, thank you.
Would you have a similar hack for the 8spd auto trans found in Ram 1500 trucks?
You rock. Thanks.
How far down do you put it in the tube? A measurement from the top of the tube would be nice to have to make another scribe mark for consistent measurements.
Ironically I'm watching this video on a Friday 4 years later. Quite helpful though. I'm almost mad that I didn't think of that already.
Thanks cutie
Can that work the same way with my dodge journey 2010
I really like your style and sharing your experiences with us.๐๐๐๐ฝ๐๐ฝ
Some point he has his voice low and he sounds a lot like Beetlejuice…… Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
Free tip Fridays on a Monday lol
Cool hack but they sell the measurement tool on ebay for $9.99. Lol
I'm glad it's not rocket surgery LOL
Why in the hell the dealership wants you to pay 27 to over 30 grand for a car and not have a dip stick for the transmission that is retarded
Thank dude ๐จ๐ฆ
Hello, my car is a Chrysler Town Country2011.
There was smuggling but the specialist added oil to the car . Today I measured the oil level when the engine is running 5.5 cm, is it good or too much?
So nice.. would be the same chart for a dodge grand caravan 2011 3.6l
Leave it to dodge to create something as innovative as stow and go seating, but take away something as basic as a dipstick.
Awesome. Thanks for the solid video. Really appreciate your snark too, lol!
Great video. You sound like Beetlejuice at times. Thatโs dope
Thanks, Bro!!!
Dealer use only like they own it forever.very tricky they kept the dipstick so you go back to them. Amazingly evil..
Smart
Thanks so much!!
Just did a service on 2014 Dodge Journeyโฆโฆ thought it was one of the stupidest things for dodge to do ( not putting a dipstick for reference)
I WILL HAVE THE HOOD OPEN WITH THE GRINDER OUT AS WELL!! Tomorrow
Could thereโs better a sensor gone bad connected to the P0740 code because it says torque converter / open circuit ??
Great video…. my question is do I check it in neutral or park.. thanks
i just got a 2016 grand caravan with 63k on it, i doubt the trans fluid was ever changed, i know they say 100k change, unless its a taxi, police, etc. Do you think its ok to change it, or should i change it ? its a hair low maybe at 38mm hot( thanks for dip stick trick)..fluid looks ok clean not perfect? Any help would be great…thank you!!!
Mr. O this is awesome, been subscribed for quite awhile now. I have recently acquired myself a 2009 T&C love the van and now I can check the tranny myself. I look forward to more repair videos, and thank you for the tips.
Thatโs what it is all about. Keeping money in your pocket. Being self sufficient when../where you can. Thanks for your insight
I'm going to do this. I hate "maintenance free" stuff. I had a lawn mower that didn't have a drain plug and you just top it off. Terrible design
Thank you so much ! So useful and handy ๐
"ITS NOT ROCKET SURGERY" I DIED ๐ ๐
You just made me subscribe. Thanks much. Working on girlfriends 2013 t&c. Awesome hack. .๐
Great job. Thanks for showing the hack. My dealership insisted that the only correct way to check the fluid was with their tool. As a fellow technician I try to give my customers ways to self help. But did you notice that if they wanted to use the engine oil dipstick without marking it up they can use the already marked points. The 40mm mark is at the same location as the add mark if the transmission fluid is "hot".
โRocket surgery โ a rickyism?!?!
