In this video we have a look at a 2002 Chevy G3500 Express Van with the 5.7 liter that has a customer complaint of "bogging, lack of power after a hot soak." This is a fairly common complaint and symptom. It can be caused by many things such as a plugged catalytic converter, a failing fuel pump, or as we see in out case an oxygen sensor that is on the fritz! -Enjoy!

The white balance is fine. Youโre just a bit backlit. Thanks for the upload!
My 2009 Chevy cargo van shows that the van is overheated( but when o check is ko hot at all) and the air condition stops
To work saying that engine hot, ac turned off, I Change the sensor, cables, and still doing the same! Only works What can be??? Thanks
The ball cap under hat trick also works on big coats:)
When I talk about gdi… maybe 80% of people have no clue.. what I'm talking about.
I have a 2004 Chevrolet express 3500 cargo van 6.0 I loss all the power every where no light no start no switch power nothing what do you think problems can be can you give me some ideas to tackle the problem??
What does negative fuel trim mean? What should they be? What does fuel trim tell us? I love your videos but need some more explanation on these diagnostics to understand what is going on ๐
My car does this. I pulled 2 codes..P01684. P0442 the 1684 is a electrical connection problem somewhere. UPDATE.. I found the problem. Loose MAP sensor on intake manifold.
Friend of mine had an ancient Honda motorcycle 305cc engine, sorta an enduro/street bike. Thing was indestructible. He dumped it and wore a hole through the engine cover so we used JB Weld and fused a quarter over the hole. He dumped it again and tore off the shift lever. Being clever we just stuck a pair of vice-grips on the and shifted with them. Okay, every now and then you'd get your foot in there wrong and snap the vice-grips off. Nothing is as fun as limping the bike in 2nd or 3rd gear back down the road looking for your shifter. How we survived those years I do not understand.
i love the time you take to diag your cars! im in a dealership and its always hard to get paid for the time spend vs time paid for diaging cars. but i always enjoy these and feel like ill be able to take what i learned from your videos to appy to my own work for that wonky car i may get one day!
Lots of information to digest, which means I need to go learn what an O2 sensor is… ๐
What does the heater control have to do with it? The left side went bad (heat only) I unplugged and removed it. Now I use vise grips of course. Could this be the problem? 05 1500 4.3.
Thanks a lot for all your videos I am learning a lot from you, greetings from Mรฉxico
Does the vehicle go in Closed Loop for cranking, even when hot?
Great vid Eric, keep on keepin on. LOL Red Green FTW.
Stay gold.
Second time watching video. A+
Air charge temperature sensor, maf are 2 potential issues. O2 sensors do have a limit to how much they can adjust the ratio.
Give it the beans!
Egr and evap systems not supported, does that mean a 2500 series 8600 gvw and up truck/van will drive ok if these emissions components are not functioning as designed? This could eliminate some process of elimination for me. I can't even afford a 150 dollar live data scan tool, not that I could do much with information anyhow, shooting from the hip hanging parts dealing with gm's evil engineering, complicated by the questionable notion that local auto stores sell possibly failing parts. Thanks for the education, this shit is starting to really hurt me and many others. I'm going to end up breaking my knuckles and or head on these pos. Must be why my van is exempt from inspection, goment and manufacturers made some slime ball deals as per usual.
registration in the glove box has the year on it.
The whole Spiel๐๐๐Greetings from Germany, great channel!!!๐๐
it might a need ECT sensor…..
Cool progress found the green puss and the crusty wire and connector
You just can't beat the SMA channel – every video is a winner. We come for the knowledge, but we stay for the company. Unbeatable.
Understood good job again
What kind of rain is that on the windshield??? [SORRY] that Florida guy! ]…lol
If the weather was warmer, the "Italian Tune Up" could possibly work, but then again NY State Troopers would put the kabash to that. It's easier to do the Italian Tune Up in the Southwest or in Texas where Interstate Speed Limits are 75-80 MPH out in the Rural Areas.
Love the snow!
Thanks for this video.
Today's American Cars especially Chevrolet are nothing but Lemons I give them Like 30 years or maybe less to be in Bankruptcy If ever the Only one in the industry will be Ford

MAC tools must be a sponscer
Well done Eric. Sam
Just subscribed.๐๐ awesome videos.
A car with a built in scan tool holder! that should tell you something….
Love that door Handel love it love it love it
Nice job very good
I once attended a Bosch mini seminar about their O2 sensors. Their factory rep told all of us about how important it is to use the square box connector that comes with the universal sensors. Reason being that their sensors do not have the little holes just above the sensor body. This is for reference oxygen (air) for the sensor to operate properly. The Bosch sensors get their reference air between the actual wires and their insulation. The plastic box allows the reference air to enter and travel down the wires to the sensor. He said never leave out the plastic box with Bosch sensors. Just something I remembered from a 2012 automotive seminar including many manufacturer's representatives.
Yup had to do a rear O2, gut the cat and a front O2 on my 99 Ram. So basically all the problems. Been good since though…
my blazer when I first bought it it would do that when hot turns out it was the mass air flow sensor replaced it and problem solved not sayin that whats wrong here
Seeing the vice grips on that door handle made me think that Mrs. O might have to take in her own hands again.
thank you for your detailed work, and your honesty when you do these jobs.
My Chevy Astro van has the same problem I'm glad you are doing this video man
And remember. "If it ain't broke, you're not trying hard enough."
(A Red Green saying)
1 Ton van. GM Rattle Trap.
Great explanation of the problem AND the repair methods used.
Mrs O, you dont need him you can do it yourself…..if I can do it, you can do it!!! Lol!!!
It's a chevy, when did it ever have power?
