In this video I come into work early because I started to second guess a diag I made on a Chevy Colorado. It wont crank over and I was 99% sure it was the ignition switch. I rerun through my steps just to confirm then make the call and replace the ignition switch as well as relearn the security system. -Enjoy!

Very well done, your a grea teacher. Thanks I've been able too get 7 of those done since 👀ing your video 😎
Do the next guy a favour and replace the sheer bolt with a bolt.
No one needs to know.
Yousing phillips screwdriver makes it much easyer to hit those retiners for steering wheel
Nice yob
greetings South main automotive my name is Charlie with keep it simple mobile auto repair in San Antonio Texas I ran across the same exact symptoms on the 2007 Chevy cavalier I started the car with my power pro be starter is fine after changing the ignition switch which I really thought was the problem I can't clear the passlock I have an x tool 7 scan tool so I can play with a few switches but I can't turn off the fuel lock out or the ignition lock out also have a radio lockout they came on at the same time after a lack of power to the battery for how to know how long that little voice inside me says BCM or ECM I just don't know which help me please
I got a Chevrolet Colorado with the same problem wish I can talk to Mr O
Thank You!
my Hummer H3 2007 has done exactly the same. Could this formula work on a hummer h3 ?
They should ramp your driveway
you don't say the sizes tools
Do you think that will cause it to have a constant short.
Just replaced the one on my truck and I’m having issues. Relearn process is not working. Passlock light stays on after trying to start truck. Any tips or ideas?
Very well done sir! I think this will remedy my dad's canyon. Gonna try it, after watching your video. Thank you, and God Bless!
Who else is sitting at home depot cause their colorado won't start?
How would I pull the ignition tumbler out if the key won’t turn
That was interesting super job I guess Fords would be different maybe you wouldn’t have to pull the steering wheel and everything camera work was great love your show,🙏🏻
Excellent…. You make it look so easy. And Thank You Always for All The Details.
I am at risk of dissolving if I get wet, because I am a crusty old Salt
What if this still doesn’t work?
I just seen that the airbag light stays on. My truck has the half doors that open backwards. My truck has the same thing going on and I found that if I open and slam the back doors the light will stay out. Has always been like this. I think it may be because the safety restraint system has the seat belts in the back doors.
I put 12v while crank with my power probe while it was already getting normal voltage and my cluster went crazy what did i fry?
This weekend I'll let you know how mine turns out
Thank you very much been having this problem with my truck for a month
Great job amigo thanks you so much
I have the same problem..
This is me right now lol 5 am fuck I hate this shit
Mrs O. What is wrong with Eric dressed in a 70s Suit?Don't forget the disco ball!
This Guy sounds just like me! Has the jargon and the mumbling Down. Required Credentials. Can fix anything. Bravo!
Thanks bro, great vid I just started having an ignition issue on my ‘11 colorado
So I followed you, finished it up and turned it over but no crank???? Going to wait the 10 minutes and see
I have the same truck with same problem.. where are you from ? I take my truck to you … please … frustrating waiting every time ten minutes before I can start the truck again 😬😅
Man you just saved me a trip to the shop incredible video thank you for the help
Awesome mechanic!
Would this be the same for the 06 monte carlo SS 5.3 LS4 V8?
Followed your instructions on removal and reinstalling the switch. Everything went well. For some reason I didn't have to reset the security system. It started on the first crank and stayed running. Restarted and ran every time I tried it since. Thanks for your informative video!
Your videos are awesome! Very helpful. But i think I’m having this same issue with my 2010 Chevy cobalt. No crank, no start, dash lights and everything gets power, but when key is turned to RUN/ON , dash lights go out then when I release the key, dash lights come back on, what can this be?? Please help 🙁 *all fuses get power*
great video was wonderin why the airbag light was still on Thanks
Eric, I have a 2006 Chevy Colorado that I bought new and the steering column never has locked. Now I know why – the lock mechanism is removed! Why would GM choose to disable the locking steering column?
Great video! Thanks for showing how to reset the security system.
Try 2 cycle weedeater carb tool for airbag springs
I have been doing repair work for 27 years and your one of the best guys I have ever seen !
Hey there same truck and same issue. Except my passlock light never goes out. Please help
Good shit my man first time ever doing an ignition switch on anything. Have a little hard time with the airbag but besides that everything went as you showed!
I wonder if you could have just changed the sensor. The black piece. And. Forego taking apart the the steering wheel
Awesome video bro ! 👌🏻
In my girl I watch your channel all the time good stuff I have a question kind of related to this video but not I want to put a 2.2 l Chevy S10 and a 5-speed in a hot rod and I need to figure out what components I need and how to bypass the BCM ignition system can you hack the BCM and avoid the ignition key or any other advice would be appreciated
Eric, You sound like me when you're not sure about something. We're o. The same page
It was totally unnecessary to to the column tear down to replace out the switch.
After taking off the shrouds you will see the switch at the rear of the cylinder housing. After removing the two Phillips screws you will pull and it will not release. You have to advance the key position from “Off” to “Run” and the sector gear in the housing will be timed to allow the switch assy. to then release from the rear and you replace it. It takes 3 minutes.😂
No programming of the 48 Megamos chip…no shear bolts to contend with…no airbags and clock spring.
Kinda shocked you never even entertained that quite frankly.
Just did one today and it was done from the time I put on Hey Jude on the radio to the ending of the song.
78.00 bucks from Piston Ring….
I replaced only the passlock sensor and not whole housing due to lack skill/tools ha BUT my issue is during the relearn process my anti theft NEVER blinks it just stays solid. I turn the key and cranks over and immediately cuts out. Is there something inside the housing that would make a difference or do you think my problem is somewhere else?? BCM maybe??
