In this video I have a look at a Chevy Cruise that is throwing an ABS code for Erratic Wheel Speed Signal. The customer has gone ahead and replaced his won right rear wheel speed sensor but the code came right back. Let's see what it is. -Enjoy!

If the sensor doesn't detect a problem until you're going 10mph or greater would that be the sensor instead of the hub?
I think Eric started youtubing so he didn't look as crazy talking to himself.
I've got the same problem in my garage right now. Little 2011 Chevy Cruze and it's showing me that both rear speed sensors were bad so I replaced both of them and all the lights still came on. And this car looks like it's been driven through the mud
Heck of an entertaining video to watch! Great info. I haven't seen many of these issues reported, but I'll be on the look out for them. I run several Cruze forums including CruzeTalk and like to keep an eye on potential issues on these cars. If you ever want an AMSOIL wholesale account for your shop, let me know and I'll set it up free of charge.
Missing toofs? How? I just got bit by the same problem. Both back wheels.
Sensor is the little flat ring,a magneticky thingy. Sensor is seperate.
Isn't this the crappiest car on the planet
My car is a Daewoo Lacetti Premier 2009 (the one which looks exactly like a Chevy Cruz. P0501 and P0700 came out besides P0141 & P0136 ( O2 sensors). The car's transmission is shifting erratically. TCM was further scanned and no codes were detected ( I was told that the TCM was fine). The other O2 sensors will be replaces. My question is: Where is my vehicle speed sensor? is it the same as the output speed sensor (located inside the transmission), or is is somewhere outside on the wheels? Another question: Do faulty O2 sensors cause erratic transmission shifting?
At work watching south main auto videos 😀 Great video again Eric O 👍🏻 Can I take this opportunity in wishing you and all of your family a very happy new year and hope 2019 bings you lots of happiness and good health. Stevie A from the UK 🇬🇧
There is a reason why Chevy is closing factories. Here is an example. I drove one as a rental. About as refined as a 1942 Jeep. What is up with the rear drum brakes on a 2012 car? Really GM? You cheap splines.
So. Let me get this straight. The guy changes the right rear wheel sensor and then goes mudd'n like it's a Jeep to test it out? Right.
That does it you get Mrs. O and the children and move to Texas
Awesome video as always! But hey brother.. don't quit your day job when it comes to singing bahahahaha!😆 Very informative and enjoy learning more when it comes to seeing the electrical side of the equation using the graphs. Rock on!😆
I live in New Jersey so I understand crudded/corroded up cars. New York ain`t that different from New Jersey but what the hell is up with that car being caked with mud like sheesh! its a chevy cruise for god sake!
So you're Eric the car guy, but also not?
I would definitely add to his "shop supplies" line of his bill for shop cleanup.
Eric, Maybe your customer put in a Right Rear Wheel sensor for the TPMS thinking that it was a wheel speed sensor?
Wish I had a garage like yours in England
I love this channel, One of the most informed as well as one of the most educated YouTube channels out there. I too have some repair videos on electronics and have been out of the YouTube experience for a few years. I am wanting to bet back in to the game but can not decide on an acceptable video editing package. Can you tell me what software package you use? Thank you Eric O and the SMA channel. Absolutely great.
So Eric…is this guy going to have you order up the bearing assy?
Just showed up but did last week
Um
good thing it wasnt pig poop covering that Cruze ! LoL
Awesome that Eric turns the car back to a DIYer. Most shops would want to do the work also. I wonder what SMA's diagnostic charge is?
Cheapest on RockAuto is $48 + S&H.
I usually whistle an Eagles or ZZ top tune.
@ Mr O
Do you use the awg mode on your pico to output signals to verify wiring and computer interpretation ?
Don't recall seeing you use it in any vids, can be pretty handy diag option at times …
Drum brakes? What year is it? 1985?
@South Main Auto Repair
Eric , my mother has a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan – when you place the heat toward The Floor —- no heat is directed toward the Floor, it comes out the top of the dash — as tho it had been placed on the windshield defrost setting. Any heater switch setting that involves it going to the floor, it will bypass the floor and blow fine out of the other setting eg. windshield , striaght at you etc. Everything else works as it should for the heat/ defrost / ac / and fan speed.
Car only has like 22,000 miles on it. So i am just wondering if that's something common you've run into? p.s. ( i told my parents not to buy a dodge )
Darn, No wrenches or ratchets.
quick ? is there supposed to be in and out play on ps shaft?
I've got an 08 hondoo element that had the rf wheel sensor replaced/has the missing clips.
They must have lock tighted the crap out of it because the moment i put a little pressure on the bolt it snapped off even though i treated the crap out of it with penetrating oil and heated around where it bolts to the hub.
Now I'm going to have to remove the hub assembly to drill out the bolt.
After watching this video i think i may just order a new hub if i can find one at a reasonable price.
Thanks for all the wonderful education😊
Don't have a truck so I went mudding in my Cruze. It's toothless.
Years ago a speed sensor problem aborted a space shuttle launch.
Thank you Eric. Good job
Have a good day. I appreciate your videos.
toof toof toof, no teefs. sounds like someones been in a bar fight :))
good Johnny Cash cover, it was written by Shel Silverstein
That car needs a dentist……..and a bath……
The more of these videos I watch the more I think Eric O. is some kind of diagnostic genius. I been working on engines since I was 10 years old or so. Still pretty sure I can't do everything Eric can. Of course some of them fancy shmancy tools would probably help the average appearance of my diagnostic IQ. Maybe a little 😉
Up here, in Ca-nada, they call the mud bath Newfie Undercoating. Another great video, thanks.
how do i get a sticker like i see in older videos?
Dear Dr. O,
You can do it. I can't! I have no scope!
Sincerely, Scopeless in Seattle! Or actually TENNESSEE!
Eric, maybe you should insist that customers, if able, wash the mud off their cars before you can effectively work on them, especially work on the undercarriage.
I love these videos. Reminds me of working on my friends cars when I lived in Erie… all the salt, mud, snow, rust, crud… I don't see how you do it. Best of Luck.
