In this video I bring you along as I diagnose and repair a Chevy Trailblazer that has a blower fan that will not shut off. I show you why not to use a NAPA # BR532. Please refer to a shop manual for the proper repair and testing procedure.

Napa sucks
Your a Gem Love it, Great Vid, now I can try to fix my Brothers No Shut off fan problem. You should be a Marine mechanic with same troubles on parts, luckily I always ordered OEM parts from the Marine Distributor. Thanks so much.
I had a blower motor repair on my 2016 colorado done by the dealer. Mis diagnosed the problem. Took 3 weeks to get parts that didn't fix it. Cost me 700 bux to fix what turned out to be a bad blower motor. Then they didn't put all the screws back in.
Eric, you need some OE cheese for that A-M whine! I'm still looking for that cheese myself.
I watch a few Mechanics on here and your the only one that does the best job on electrical, great job..
Epic rant bro
Never made sense to me why napa and Autozone and orileys and advanced auto don't sell blower motors or Resistors or multiple other parts that have the same plug always have to be cut and spliced its like come on it was ordered based off the make and model and year how hard would it be to make it with original connection it does get frustrating Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Eric, I have been a tech for 35 years now. I watch your videos whenever possible. Everything you say, I can relate to. The logic, the humour, the frustration… I find myself chuckling with you every joke you make. It's all so true. Thanks for everything. You really make a difference in this world. Keep it up brother.
Great video, my 05 trailblazer scared me with the blower not working, checked the fuse, nope, so figure it's the resistor cuz NOTHING us easy or cheap with this truck. After taking I no out the fuse, putting it back, just for shits & giggles tried it again, fired right up. Not working RIGHT, but blowing hot, which is what I need on a maine winter..still plan on replacing c the resistor, don't trust it..thanks for the heads on Napa part
I have the same blower on all the time on my '04 Silverado. There is about 7 different versions of this thing. That one would fit my truck no problem. My problem is trying to find the right one at the parts store and GM didn't have one. The next thing is that the GM one cost about a hundred bucks more. Rock Auto is my friend up here in Canada.
You sound a lot like me, Hate dealing with counter people, who just drag out your time, because they just don't care about our schedule, time is money,
Hey Eric, this is my favorite video at this point in your blossoming YouTube career! This is where your funny side came out 🤣. I think everyone can identify with you, and that's the point. Thank you so much for sharing and I wish you and yours nothing but good fortune. o yeah, I forgot that I'd watched and commented on this video 3 years ago..
I don't know why youtube is throwing these old SMA recommendations, but it's good to watch….. My, how you have become so much more enthusiastic since then Mr Eric O … 🙂
Bad days happen, and there is no shame in showing those days… Actually it's good to see someone show that mechanical/electrical repair are not always roses and sunshine.
Keep up the always awesome videos, whether good or bad results…. or frustration, anger.
Your subscribers and patreons show that we love you….. Wish I had a tech' like you around here.
I know it’s old but great video!!
— Eric, no malfunctions here, and I'm good at tracking down electrical. Starting to think, a main battery switch might solve some problems. Any thoughts on that?
Mr. Big O..bro blowers only have one way to suck in air even if turn wrong way it will reduce the air propeling but never going to suck air otherway arround like conventional fan blades.
Thank YOU!
You can shoot me Eric. I've replaced these JUNK parts at least 7-8 times over the life of my 03 Envoy. As of late, I am getting about 30 days of success before the resistor fries, evidence to me; "I could be wrong about this", by the burnt pin on the resistor body connection. Additionally, I can't get THE O.E.M. AC-DELCO part due to the planned obsolescence implemented by ALL MAJOR CORPORATIONS . What I would like to do is find a way to trick the computer if necessary, and put an old-school resistor and rotary switch in its place; the old school resistors rarely failed; you could actually see the wound coil on those; but alas, copper was involved; and that would cost a penny more to produce: "no corporate bonuses for that design"! This problem drives me nuts because I have to give the wifey my truck; which I have to unload all my tools, etc.; a major inconvenience; all so that some chubby corporate bankster receives a 7 figure bonus with another clever design that lasts 1 week to 40 days before disaster strikes. By the way, the sticker price on my 2003 envoy was over 50 k; now expect to pay 100 k out the door for the modern day equivalent replacement vehicle; which, sadly, is always in the shop. Another note, It's funny how you mentioned filler necks in this video. A couple months ago I ordered a new filler neck, etc. for the Envoy; claimed to be exact O.E.M.; Stupid junk kicked my "arse" because the hoses and weldments were totally off spec; totally unacceptable. Figuring out the filler neck issue in a rainstorm would send even the most patient person to the mad house. As a former automation electrician, good manufactures have gauge machines to either pass or reject a part improperly assembled. Clearly, the manufacturer; Likely 1 major manufacturer, under disguise of numerous other names , does NOT implement proper manufacturing principles. Sorry for the long rant. Incidentally, can you tell me how long the Napa resistor lasted? I need another one ASAP. Also, if anyone has a proven work around this particular junk, please post the link! Millions of people would appreciate that! One last thing to Eric O, I love your videos. You taught me, a regular Joe who has been doing brake jobs for 30+ years, about rust jacking in a brake video; a little detail that I wish I would have known years ago; tricks of the trade!
Thank you for your video. I always thought it was just me when running into problems when working on my vehicles at home. I thought mechanics just zip, zap, and done with no problems but now I feel more normal knowing it isn't just me.
Eric, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! My son is working gobs of overtime right now and his wife called with this same issue on their truck. I would have not known how to help her besides disconnecting battery or removing fuse. She stopped by and it tested just like you showed. I removed the module so he can go get the replacement part and we will put it on in a couple days. For now, at least, she doesnt have to worry about the battery running down or having to pull the fuse.
In truck and trailer repair. For outside in the elements use, Crimp and seal connectors fail 100% of the time. Failure time is 1-2 years but failure none the less
Exact Problem in my daughters 2007 Envoy with 120K miles on it, exact same problem with after market part. i would have never found the problem without this video. I followed the procedure in the video and it worked out so perfectly that i didn't have to stick the extra foam from the seal to bang my head against it! thanks Eric!
Sucks you have to cut the factory harness plug. I'd go to the junkyard and solder a male to male plug
Thanks for your help.
Made me bust a Gut Laughing, Great Video of a real repair, I feel the frustration and feel the pain. theres always something to piss you off. but I keep plugging along and make it happen. Thanks for the video
napa turned this 10 minute job into a 30 minute job to make an extra $1.00 selling that universal instead of original configuration. now i need to do this job tomorrow and i will not be cutting wires, i will order online if the the clowns try to sell me a universal. thanks for the video again
Just bought a 2002 trailblazer LT . Is it normal for the air flow to be low in all vent locations? I can hear the blower changing speeds in every setting. Thanks for any help. NO cabin filter installed.
Because if your video I fixed my trucks fan clutch on my 2004 Buick Rainer. Thanks for the information and how to diagnose the problem. Appreciate your knowledge and the videos. Have a great day!
GREAT JOB
Oh, i love this video, worked on trailers for 20 years, i ALWAYS ran into the same problem on trailer air valves, why in hell cant they just make the same valve they installed at the factory??? But NO, they always got to move the air line ports to the other side of the valve!!!!!!
I lost it when you beat your head on the foam!!!!!!
Omg I totally forgot what I was watching you for you sounded so much like me always complaining about people that work in customer service slash products slash whatever a so relate anyway you're great to watch again I forgot what I was watching you for . You just have that personality that just draws you in thanks
great diagnostic logic
I LIKE your videos I too own a tire an Auto Repair shop And when i'm not positive about a problem I watch one of your videos and you usually confirm what i was thinking. Your better than me with electrical. i'm not bad for having no auto school training but i can usually fix anything that rolls in. I can totally relate to all of your whining. i have all the same problems. But why i'm here is because i like them crimp an seal connectors. now on my mud dragster i solder everything. .we could sit back and drink a few an tell some stories. i'm south of st louis Thanks for the video I;M Z-MAN
Hey My Brother Hey mY Friend🙋..You are just like Mee, 🥁😎LoL!!.. I liked your video. In a lot of ways you are just like Me, LOL . You're very intelligent👍I hate STUPID People, LOL🙋.There. EVERYWHERE.🙃 Where I come from I see the same situations I'm always trying to make chicken soup out of chicken shit😎🙋.. And it's all because these genius engineers and college grads who Where's loafers and sits behind a desk amd can't tie their own shoes.. Yeah knoW🥱 One of those guys.. I swear to God I'm with you Man if we knew each other weed 🙋 B good friends. Yeah I go through the same head aches!! 😠 I'm like for Real? How in the hell did you get the wires in there IN the First time (place) They can't give you another half inch wire No The list goes on brother🙃 like there is always one fkn screw or bolt that Has to give you a major problem.
As mostly because of those genius designers and engineers that I feel need to to go back to school cuz Obviously A lot of them need to spend more time in school The longer they're in engineering school the easier my job Will be,👍sometimes🙋🥁 👍😎. Yeah, Alot of these genius designers, 🥱 engineers remind me of The brain dead Joe Biden 🥁😶. Keep up the good work man. Anda Don't let The genius designers 🥱 Or those rridiculousnessly great engineers 🙋cause you to get hurt when You have to work on some PolishChinese Puerto Rican Jackass creations 🙃 one great example of a great design is the nice looking screw called the torque🙃 Why they Put that starshape🥱 torque so deep? with the Slightly different sizes so shallow That causes them to strip out very easily We have a winner🏆👍 There's so many smartly designed junk outther 🙋👉😆👈 And I stay focused on that focus🥱
I know this is an old video but I just found it to help me figure out why they dont just make the same one. Yes very aggravating to work with aftermarket parts and the companies who make them. I've made my fair share of calls and emails to have the same results. Love watching your videos.
There is technical service bulitin on this junk from gm the module has been up dated and you have to change out the plugon the AC Delco unit also.your Napa module is probably a reboxed AC Delco unit because it is made in the USA. It's all junk now.napa is not the company it was in the late 70,s. Napa has closed down there distribution center here and closed up some local stores and private owned jobber stores.there parts are not as good as they once was
LOL bang head here
Naper: Not a sponsor…
Thanks for the help, I treid to change mine . Got new one at NAPA. Didn't work. I went to my fav shop McDonalds Auto Repair Hebron Ohio and it was the small black relay that is next to it on Chevy S10 2000. LOL the last shop that looked at it gave me a 2 hr estimate to look in the dash LOL.
To his day, that is the biggest complaint I here from mechanics. Bad aftermarket parts.
I just had to replace 2 year old CV joints. TWO YEARS OLD!
That is a lot easier than replacing the resistor on a 1995 Gmc Sierra 1500, which I have been doing all afternoon.
♡
You did that I have the same problem with my trail blazer
Wine and Cheese 😜
Whining is stress relief….
They do it on purpose so you can't return it once you cut the wire.
Life is like a garden dig it. Thanks for keeping it real !
It’s not whining if your speaking the truth
