In this video I take you through a bit of the diagnosing this 2006 Chevy 1500 truck that was towed in with a no start no crank condition. It was a pretty simple one but would have burned me if I just took a big fat guess. That is why we test right 🙂

It's a hairline crack in the copper wiring in the fuse panel under the hood Chevrolet is notorious for this right now there's 43,749 people stranded on the side of the road in any and all Chevy vehicles because they make cheap ass s*** and they should be ashamed for not trying to beef It up that's what it is it's a hairline crack which is why it's intermediate and when it heats up it spreads apart to where you lose power it won't start won't crank won't do nothing then you come back the next day when it's cooled off and it'll start right up and run like his brand new and then you go about 20 miles and it does it again and again it's a hairline crack in the copper wiring in the fuse panel under the hood
thank you so much for this video. fixed my problem!! on a 01 gmc 3500 van
Good job!!
Eric your videos are phenomenal, you definitely present right way of troubleshooting and diagnosing the problem in a very clear and systematic approach. I have learned quite a bid watching your videos they are very educational and informative. Many mechanics out there just swap parts till the issue is fixed not real techs. Keep up the great work you do contribute massive knowledge to the guys like me and others. Thank you for the great lessons you share with us.
my truck has no crank no start. fuses and relays are good and replaced the Ignition switch but still no power from the S wire?? anyone have any idea? much appreciated 🙏🏽
Another culprit is the Discrete Logic Ignition Switch (DLIS) Fuse under the hood. Great video that walked me through all needed checks for the exact same symptoms, but ultimately ended up being a corroded DLIS fuse (2A).
I’m having the same problem but the door chime works and when I crank it the door chime stops. Gauges are lit up but not working. Radio headlights windows all work. When I crank it just a clicking sound from the fuse box. I just put a new battery alternator starter transmission on it. Truck is a 2004 Chevy SS and I’m the first owner. Has over 126,000 miles and when it had around 40,000 miles I had the same thing happen. Back then I put a new starter relay fuse and odometer. My question is do you think it’s the starter relay fuse again?
I was always told when changing the battery to connect 9 volt battery into the cigarette lighter to keep it from going into the anti-theft mode so is that not necessary. Just wondering. I still think the video was an excellent job
Good job on that Battery, Vice Grip Garage would approve with that go handle on it.
That starter fooled you by working that one time.
glad you went thru the troubleshooting the way you did. Good job!
how about a hybrid no crank no start?
I really like your style of video production in addition to the knowledge you share. Very well done and very interesting. Subscribed!
All your videos are so good. Canada here not sure where you are. got a 2001 Jimmy, new pump, starts for 15 sec quotes
. Think it is a ground issue. Haven`t come across anything like that with your channel. Bill
? Some time my truck will start other time it won't do nothing all light are on any suggestions could something be getting warm and not working could the master fuse be bad
This was well done and helpful, and that's why among all the videos about this issue I am posting the following comment:
If it is the battery as it was with mine, you have to actually INSTALL the new/good battery, NOT just jump it – that will not work. After viewing a dozen videos and forums that's what I finally found out from my shop. I believe them because any other problem with the system would have cost more to fix. Plus it did work.
The explanation from the shop is that it has to do with the computers and complexity of the charging system, and the need for direct cable connections. Jumper cables do not provide the necessary power feed.
Thank you for your vast knowledge and I know I can do it!
Mine was for same strange reason didn’t have nothin , no power to starter relay or crank , and fuel relay didn’t have nothing either. Did a relearn on vats twice and still nothing was going to hot wire it but all of sudden heard fuel pump loading up . Put all stuff back the way it was and it started like nothing was wrong , what in hell would of that would be wrong , cause you no it’s going to come back at a real bad time.
Another great video. I like your diagnostic trouble shooting process. removing the starter underneath you stated “the black sockets don't work”, “need to try the chrome ones”. why did the black not work???
98 gmc changed starter got new one and would work not work now my original think is solenoid but jump starter off cables starter works open for suggestions
Great video. Great job.
I wish all troubleshooting videos were this good.
I’m having the same problem now but how or where did you get the fuse extender
We are having the same issue. But with no fire to the starter solenoid
You got a great site very informative appreciate it
Now I know how to properly troubleshoot this issue on my 2004 Sierra. Only problem is it's so intermittent I can't get it to fail when I'm sitting in my garage and able to test.
I have a 04 2500 HD 6.0 was driving down the street the doors start locking and unlocking now won't start can't figure it out
Where did you find the relay/fuse extender/tester?
When I went to work for Sears Automotive they sent me to school down in Atlanta, GA for starter, alternator/generator, and battery school. That was my first ASE Certification test….Next was alignment training. All this happened almost fifty years ago.
On mine the dashboard don’t light up and once it does … it starts right up ! So idk what it could be 🥲
Had the same happen to my 2011 Silverado 1500 and all I did was disconnect battery for minute and it started right up and been working for few weeks now but I know it's just a matter of time before it does it again
Food for thought Last winter my 2001 chevy 1500 started this issue. I used a wire to get myself home. It only does this when it gets cold( Texas 40 degrees).it cranks like a champ 1st time every time in warm weather. Thanks to your video i am going to put a starter in and hope that stops my problem. Thank you.
Very good. I suspected and replaced my starter relay and put silver oxide grease on the prongs thinking I had had flaky connections. Now I think my neutral safety switch is flaky because I had to put the truck in park twice to start it. This is a once inawhile problem. A 2003 Chevy 3500 Coachman motorhome. I'd rather drive my Hemi truck than work on my Chevy truck.
Good testing. Thank you for sharing
Got a 2003 no crank turn key to start the dash lights will go out let it go they come on jump the relay it cranks and starts the fuel gage and oil pressure gage don't go back to zero and no key chime the crank fuse has no power till you jump relay also the single wire on starter no power till jump relay also a wire on ignition switch have replaced everything including computer, starter ignition switch neutral safety no green wires checked grounds I'm going crazy trying to fix this truck have you run into this problem can you please help me ???
I've been watching your videos for a while now but I never came across this video which was extremely helpful. I've been having this exact problem with my 03 suburban and now I can finally fix it. You're a lifesaver!!
Could u have jumped on the starter relay?? Pin 86 or 87
Hi. I have a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 hybrid. Didn’t start. Was told it was hybrid battery. Changed it and still won’t start. Anyone have any suggestions?
I jumped to conclusions and changed the ignition switch and still won't start. Balls!!!!!!;
if i have a remote starter and it still starts with that is it safe to say it would be my ignition switch?
I'm having no crank no start and I have Power to the B terminal but no power to the S terminal, I'm guessing maybe the ignition switch 🤔 I have tested relays and fuses and they are good.
O2 Chevy Silverado 1500 no start no joke, needs a new ignition switch I put that in and going to put a new starter in it also great video learned a lot preciate it enjoy the day
can you please do a video of a s10 with a no dome lights and curtsey lights I give up I cant find it I wish you lived around Norwich ny
I have a very similar problem.
I had to change out the ignition lock, new one is installed and it's doing exactly the same thing.
I have that same milwaukee rachet.
Usually start at the starter and work back to the switch, battery cables ect.-you show the procedures well.
I’m having the same problem with my 1992 gmc 1500 2 wd 5.) sometimes after driving and parked go to start it when you turn the key dash lights light up but it will not do anything seems like it acts up after driving it and it sits for a bit only has 82,000 miles
What program do you use to get all of your wiring diagrams? I’m diagnosing a no crank/start situation, and I’m blowing a 40 amp fuse.
That was a very good video sure helped me on my 2003
Figured out what the issue was for my 98 suburban! It was the stater relay coming loose after a turbulent ride around the city. The relay comes loose just a bit but shoot is that enough to keep you stumped and testing everything ! And still have you scratching your head! Under the hood located in Fuse box ! Simple I know too good to be true! Nope at least not for me! Just give it a shot next time might save you a few bucks and a head ache!!!
I just need some kind of information
